This paper proposes an adaptive sliding mode control scheme for an autopilot design of Skid-to-Turn (STT) missiles. The feedback linearization controller eliminates nonlinear terms in STT dynamics and makes the entire system linear. But the modeling errors in dynamics and the external disturbances exert bad influence on the performance of the feedback linearization controller. To handle these uncertainties, an adaptive control scheme is developed, where a bound of the uncertainties is estimated by an adaptive law based on a sliding surface. The asymptotic output tracking is proved by using the Lyapunov stability theory. Simulations for STT missiles illustrate the validity of the proposed scheme.
An adaptive observer for rotor resistance is designed to estimate rotor flux for the a-b model of an induction motor assuming that rotor speed and stator currents are measurable. A singularly perturbed model of the motor is used to design an Adaptive sliding mode observer which drives the estimated stator currents to their true values in the fast time scale. The adaptive observer on the sliding surface is based on the equivalent switching vector and both the estimated fluxes and the estimated rotor resistance converge to their true values. A speed controller considering the effects of parameter variations and external disturbance is proposed in this paper. First, induction motor dynamic model at nominal case is estimated. based on the estimated model, speed controller is designed to match the prescribed speed tracking specifications. Then a dead-time compensator and a robust controller are designed to reduce the effects of parameter variations and external disturbances. the desired speed tracking control performance can be preserved under wide operating range, and good speed load regulating performance. Some simulated results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Proposed controller.
Incorrections between model and plant are parameter, system order uncertainties and modeling error due to disturbance like friction. Therefore to achieve a good tracking performance, adaptive discrete time sliding mode tracking controller is used under time-varying desired position. Based on the diophantine equation, a new discrete time sliding function is defined and utilized for the control law. Robustness is increased by using both a recursive least-square method and a sliding function-based nonlinear feedback. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is proved by the results of simulation and experiment.

In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive sliding-mode method which has a sliding surface vector including new boundizing function is proposed and applied to a two-wheeled welding mobile robot (WMR). This controller makes the welding point of WMR achieve tracking a reference point which is moving on a smooth curved welding path with a desired constant velocity. The mobile robot is considered in view of a kinematic model and a dynamic model in Cartesian coordinates. The proposed controller can overcome uncertainties and external disturbances by adaptive sliding-mode technique. To design the controller, the tracking error vector is defined, and then the sliding surface vector including new boundizing function and the adaptation laws are chosen to guarantee that the error vector converges to zero asymptotically. The stability of the dynamic system is shown through the Lyapunov method. In addition, a simple way of measuring the errors by potentiometers is introduced. The simulations and experimental results are shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

In this paper, the adaptive fuzzy system is used as an adaptive approximator for robot nonlinear dynamic. A theoretical justification for the adaptive approximator is proving that if the representive point(RP or switching function) and its derivative in sliding mode control are used as the inputs of the adaptive fuzzy system, the adaptive fuzzy system can approximate robot nonlinear dynamics in the neighborhood of the switching surface. Thus the fuzzy controller design is greatly simplified and at the same time, the fuzzy control rule can be obtained easily by the reaching condition. Based on this, a new method for designing an adaptive fuzzy control system based on sliding mode is proposed for the trajectory tracking control of a robot with unknown nonlinear dynamics.

This paper deals with a new adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller and its application to an inverted pendulum. We propose new method of adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control scheme that the fuzzy logic system is used to approximate the unknown system functions in designing the SMC of uncertain nonlinear systems. The controller's construction and its analysis involve sliding modes. The proposed controller consists of two components. Sliding mode component is employed to eliminate the effects of disturbances, while a fuzzy model component equipped with an adaptation mechanism reduces modeling uncertainties by approximating model uncertainties. To demonstrate its performance, the proposed control algorithm is applied to an inverted pendulum. The results show that both alleviation of chattering and performance are achieved
In this paper, a second order fuzzy sliding mode control that combines with a adaptive self-regulating technique is proposed for a nonlinear system with unknown dynamics. The chattering effect that is a representative disadvantage of the sliding mode control is avoided by using the second order sliding mode control instead of the first order sliding mode control. The proposed sub-controller is composed of the equivalent control that is approximated by an online rule regulation sheme and the hitting control that is used to constrain the states of the sub-system to maintain on the sub-sliding surface and used to guarantee the system robustness. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller
