  • In this paper, we propose the adaptive Odd/Even Multi-shell Median Filter(adaptive O/E MMF) to improve the defect that Modified Multi-shell Median Filter(MMMF) can not recover missing lines of vertical and cross direction. This filter uses odd/even multi-shells and new proposed threshold strategy The performance of the proposed filter is evaluated over image 'airfield 'by using MATLAB. As the proposed threshold strategy eliminate the number of redundant replacement, it suppresses impulse noise and recovers missing lines.

  • This paper presents a 3-dimensional diffusion simulation with adaptive solution strategy. The developed diffusion simulator VLSIDIF-3 was designed to re-refine areas. Refine scheme was calculated by the difference of doping concentration between any of two nodes. Each element is greater than tolerance and redo diffusion process until error is tolerable. Numerical experiment in low doping diffusion problem showed that this adaptive solution strategy is very efficient in both memory and time, and expected this scheme would be more powerful in complex diffusion model.

  • This study employs a novel beam-type wavelet finite element model (WFEM) to fulfill an adaptive-scale damage detection strategy in which structural modeling scales are not only spatially varying but also dynamically changed according to actual needs. Dynamical equations of beam structures are derived in the context of WFEM by using the second-generation cubic Hermite multiwavelets as interpolation functions. Based on the concept of modal strain energy, damage in beam structures can be detected in a progressive manner: the suspected region is first identified using a low-scale structural model and the more accurate location and severity of the damage can be estimated using a multi-scale model with local refinement in the suspected region. Although this strategy can be implemented using traditional finite element methods, the multi-scale and localization properties of the WFEM considerably facilitate the adaptive change of modeling scales in a multi-stage process. The numerical examples in this study clearly demonstrate that the proposed damage detection strategy can progressively and efficiently locate and quantify damage with minimal computation effort and a limited number of sensors.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effect of adaptive/maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relation between perceived spouse's covert narcissism and marital satisfaction. For this purpose, 300 adults who were married in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were subjected to covert narcissism, marital satisfaction, and cognitive emotion regulation strategy scale and analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The results of the study was followed. First, perceived spouse's covert narcissism showed a significant negative correlation with marital satisfaction and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy, whereas it showed a significant positive correlation with maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy. The marital satisfaction showed a significant positive correlation with adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy, but a significant negative correlation with maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy. Second, adaptive/maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies partially mediated the effects of perceived spouse's covert narcissism of on marital satisfaction. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • Single-user spectrum sensing is susceptible to multipath effects, shadow effects, hidden terminals and other unfavorable factors, leading to misjudgment of perceived results. In order to increase the detection accuracy and reduce spectrum sensing cost, we propose an adaptive cooperative sensing strategy based on an estimated signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Which can adaptive select different sensing strategy during the local sensing phase. When the estimated SNR is higher than the selection threshold, adaptive double threshold energy detector (ED) is implemented, otherwise cyclostationary feature detector is performed. Due to the fact that only a better sensing strategy is implemented in a period, the detection accuracy is improved under the condition of low SNR with low complexity. The local sensing node transmits the perceived results through the control channel to the fusion center (FC), and uses voting rule to make the hard decision. Thus the transmission bandwidth is effectively saved. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively improve the system detection probability, shorten the average sensing time, and has better robustness without largely increasing the costs of sensing system.

  • This paper presents a design of fuzzy power system stabilizer (FPSS) using adaptive evolutionary computation (AEC). We have proposed an adaptive evolutionary algorithm which uses a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary computations. FPSS shows better control performances than conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS) in three-phase fault with heavy load which is used when tuning FPSS. To show the robustness of the proposed FPSS, it is appliedto damp the low frequency oscillations caused by disturbances such as three-phase fault with normal and light load, the angle deviation of generator with normal and light load and the angle deviation of generator with heavy load. Proposed FPSS shows better robustness than CPSS.

  • The major difficulty of using Bayesian probabilistic inference for system identification is to obtain the posterior probability density of parameters conditioned by the measured response. The posterior density of structural parameters indicates how plausible each model is when considering the uncertainty of prediction errors. The Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is a widespread medium for posterior inference but its convergence is often slow. The differential evolution adaptive Metropolis-Hasting (DREAM) algorithm boasts a population-based mechanism, which nms multiple different Markov chains simultaneously, and a global optimum exploration ability. This paper proposes an improved differential evolution adaptive Metropolis-Hasting algorithm (IDREAM) strategy to estimate the posterior density of structural parameters. The main benefit of IDREAM is its efficient MCMC simulation through its use of the adaptive Metropolis (AM) method with a mutation strategy for ensuring quick convergence and robust solutions. Its effectiveness was demonstrated in simulations on identifying the structural parameters with limited output data and noise polluted measurements.

  • With the growth of the massive amount of data, the failure probability of the cloud storage node is becoming more and more big. A single fault tolerance strategy, such as replication and erasure codes, has some unavoidable disadvantages, which can not meet the needs of the today's fault tolerance. Therefore, according to the file access frequency and size, an adaptive hybrid redundant fault tolerance strategy is proposed, which can dynamically change between the replication scheme and erasure codes scheme throughout the lifecycle. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can not only save the storage space(reduced by 32% compared with replication), but also ensure the fast recovery of the node failures(increased by 42% compared with erasure codes).

  • Compressed sensing in image reconstruction has attracted attention and many studies are proposed. As we know, adding prior knowledge about the distribution of the support on the original signal to CS can improve the quality of reconstruction. However, it is still difficult for a recovery framework adjusts its strategy for exploiting the prior knowledge efficiently according to the current estimated signals in serial iterations. With the theory of information geometry, we propose an adaptive strategy based on the current estimated signal in each iteration of the recovery. We also improve the performance of existing algorithms through the adaptive strategy for exploiting the prior knowledge according to the current estimated signal. Simulations are presented to validate the results. In the end, we also show the application of the model in the image.

  • This paper presents a model for supporting the adaptive interaction between the computer and the learner. To design an adaptive interaction model, the strategy to support the adaptive interaction in the web-based educational system was established. And then. the necessary components for executing each strategy were selected. Also. the logical relations among the components were verified. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive interaction model, we applied the existing web-based courseware and the new courseware using the adaptive interaction models to two groups respectively, and then measured the performance of each group. Experimental results reveal that the adaptive interaction model actually has positive effects on the learning activities of the learner.
