There was no clinical report on functional assessment of ankylosing spondylitis. In order to evaluate the effect of clinical treatment, it was necessary to apply valuable and useful of assessment. Methods : We evaluate 1 cases of diagnosed patient with askylosing spondylitis by AIMS2, M-HAQ, K-HAQ, BASFI, and BASDAI after a series of herbal acupuncture treatment.(Solution of herbal acupuncture is made of vaporizing extraction method from the prescription Sineumheo 1.) Results : Herbal acupuncture had relieved pain and morning stiffness successfully and recovered ankylosing spondylitis functionally. Conclusion : 1. Herbal acupuncture had relieved pain and morning stiffness of ankylosing spondylitis. 2. AIMS2 was not useful to evaluate ankylosing spondylitis because of long evaluation time and low specificity. 3. Although there is no translation version of them, BASFI, and BASDAI are clinically useful of assessment, because of short evaluation time and high specificity. 4. K-HAQ with M-HAQ is useful to evaluate the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis because of snort evaluation time and high specificity.

Methods : Patients were treated with MA, which was performed once per week for three weeks. A headache score, visual analogue scale (VAS), and neck disability index (NDI) were used for the evaluation of treatment effects. Results : In cases 1, 2, and 3, the headache score decreased from 4 to 1, 3 to 0, and 3 to 1, respectively. The VAS score decreased from 8.5 to 1.9, 5 to 0.4, and 5.3 to 2 in cases 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The NDI score decreased from 28 to 4, 50 to 4, and 38 to 16 in cases 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Conclusion : MA appears to be effective for the treatment of cervicogenic headache. Further data should be collected and a comparative study using other treatment methods should be performed.

The treatment groups take herbal medicines at the same time in 16 studies, and proton pump inhibitor(PPI) and histamine 2 receptor antagonist were used as a comparative treatment in the most of studies. Acupuncture or moxibustion treatments were done daily or 2~3 times a week for 5 days~18 weeks. All of studies reported higher effective rate in the acupuncture or moxibustion treatment group compared to the western medication control group. Conclusions : The results of this study could be used for the future practice and the clinical research about the acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for GERD.

Methods : We investigated 40 cases of patients with peripheral facial palsy, and devided patients into two groups: We treated one group by scalp acupuncture with usual acupuncture and did the other group by usual acupuncture only. To evaluate the effectiveness of treatment applied for two groups, we used Gross Grading System of House-Brackmann(H-B grade), Yanagihara's Unweighed Grading System(Y system). Results : 1. In H-B grade group B(common acupuncture therapy and scalp acupuncture)'s score was reduced than group A(common acupuncture therapy), but there was no statistical significance. 2. In Y-system group B was higher than group A, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions : There was no stastical significance between two groups : treated by scalp acupuncture with usual acupuncture and usual acupuncture therapy only, on peripheral facial palsy.
