Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness acupotomy and spine decompression therapy for HIVD patients. Methods : Clinical study was conducted to 40 patients who were treated in Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Wonkwang University Oriental Hospital from September 2011 to January 2012. We divided into two groups. The group A(20 subjects) was treated with acupotomy and spine decompression therapy, and the group B(20 subjects) was treated with acupotomy. To estimate the efficacy of treatments, all the subjects were asked to complete the VAS(Visual analogue scale) and ODI(Oswestry disability index) before and after the treatment. Results : 1. In both two groups, VAS and ODI of patients were decreased significantly in the statistics. 2. In group A, VAS and ODI of patients were decreased more significantly in the statistics than VAS and ODI of patients in group B.

Purpose : In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of Carpal tunnel Syndrome. Methods : From 7th May, 2008 to 10th May, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome(clinical diagnosed) was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The patient's both hand numbness, both wrist pain & puffiness were remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has notable effect in improving symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Purpose : In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of herniated lumbar intervertebral Disc patient needed operation. Methods : From 17th April, 2008 to 17th April, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as herniated lumbar intervertebral Disc at L4/5(right postero-lateral extrusion type)was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The patient's chief complaints - Low back pain, both buttock pain, Right. leg paresthesia were remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has notable effect in improving functional disability and symptoms of lumbar radiculopathy. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Purpose In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of Achilles Tendinitis Methods From 4th August, 2008 to 14th August, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as Chronic Achilles Tendinitis (clinical diagnosed) was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results The patient's chief complaints- Lt. heel pain and stiffness, dorsi-flexion limitation, nodules in the achilles tendon- were notably improved. Conclusions This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has significant effect in improving symptoms of achilles tendinitis. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Methods : From 10th June, 2010 to 19th June, 2010, 1 female patient diagnosed as Peroneal nerve Palsy(clinical diagnosed) was treated with general oriental medicine therapy (acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The patient's left foot drop was remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has notable effect in improving symptoms of peroneal nerve palsy. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Objectives This case study aimed to investigate the effect of acupotomy and fascia chuna therapy on talipes cavus-type plantar fasciitis. Methods We classified the foot arch type using a podoscope and estimated the outcome by evaluating the numeric rating scale, pain disability index, and EuroQol-5-dimension measurement. Results After treatment, heel pain decreased and the quality-of-life score improved. Conclusions This study suggests that treatment with acupotomy and muscle energy techniques based on the foot arch type may be effective for plantar fasciitis. A limitation of this study is the small number of cases. Further clinical studies are required.

Objectives : The objective of this case report was to observe the effect of musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided acupotomy therapy on common peroneal nerve palsy. Methods : From June, 2010 to September, 2012, 3 patients clinically diagnosed as common peroneal nerve palsy were treated with general oriental medicine therapy (acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The foot drop of the patients was remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy hasnotable effect in improving symptoms of common peroneal nerve palsy. As though we had not widly experienced in this treatment, more research is needed.

Purpose: In order to estimate clinical effects of acupotomy and venesection in a patient with peripheral neuropathy and upper limb lymphedema following breast cancer surgery. Methods: From 17th August, 2009 to 29th August 2009, 1 female patient with peripheral neuropathy and upper limb lymphedema following breast cancer surgery was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy with venesection. Results: The patient's chief complaints- Lt hand numbness, Lt arm edema, Lt. wrist flexion limitation - were notably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acupotomy and venesection therapy has significant effect in improving symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and upper limb lymphedema following breast cancer surgery, as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.

Background: The aim of this study was to examine whether the effects of acupotomy therapy were beneficial for the treatment of protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods: The number of patients (n = 80) were equally assigned into treatment group and control group. Treatment group was given acupotomy therapy twice a week, and control group was given acupuncture 3 times a week, for 4 weeks. The beneficial effect and changes in score of the Japan Orthopedic Association (JOA) for low back pain were observed. Results: Among 40 cases in the treatment group, there were 25 (62.5%) with an excellent effect, 13 (32.5%) with good effect, 1 (2.5%) with a medium effect and 1 (2.5%) with poor effect, with the total experiencing an excellent/good effect of 95.0%. Among 40 cases in the control group, there were 11 (27.5%) with an excellent effect, 17 (42.5%) with good effect, 10 (25.0%) with a medium effect, and 2 (5.0%) with poor effect, with an excellent/good rate of 70.0%. The result of the rank sum test showed Z = -4.923, p < 0.05 in the comparison, indicating a significantly better outcome following acupotomy compared with acupuncture. JOA scores increased in both groups after treatment (p < 0.05), which was more significant in the acupotomy treatment group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Acupotomy therapy has a beneficial effect on protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc.

Objectives : Polyarteritis nodosa is a progressive disease of connective tissue that is characterized by nodules along arteries; nodules may block the artery and result in inadequate circulation to the particular area. This report is intended to estimate the efficacy using oriental complex treatment on a patient with Polyarteritis nodosa. Materials and Methods : From 19th March, 2012 to 12th May, 2012, One male inpatient diagnosed with polyarteritis nodosa was treated with general oriental medicine therapy : needle-embedding therapy ; acupuncture ; pharmacopuncture ; acupotomy therapy and herbal medication. VAS(visual analogue scale) was used for evaluation of both leg pain. Other subjective symptoms including night sweat, tinnitus, upper heat were evaluated by percentage comparing the symtoms before and after treatment. Results : The patient showed a certain degree of improvement in both leg pain and other subjective symtoms. Conclusions : Oriental treatments such as needle-Embedding therapy, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, pharmacopuncture therapy, acupotomy therapy and herbal medication can be effective for controlling pain and other accompanied symtoms due to polyarteritis nodosa.
