Purpose: The purpose of this study is to derive the residential environment design elements that affect suicide, and then analyze the actual situation in terms of suicide prevention and suggest implications. Methods: The study was conducted through literature analysis, field surveys, and interviews with stakeholders. Results: As a result of extracting the variables related to the residential environment that affect suicide suggested in a total of 18 papers, 15 variables were extracted and organized into major categories such as housing type, health and welfare facilities, leisure and cultural facilities, and living environment. Next, we selected a public rental housing complex with a relatively high suicide rate among multi-family housing as the case, and conducted a empirical analysis. It was investigated that the facilities were insufficient, and apart from the quantitative satisfaction of the rest, various problems were exposed, such as the classification of users according to age and insufficient management in terms of the actual use of residents including suicide attempters. Implications: First, it is necessary to search for the design direction of the residential environment for suicide prevention. Second, it is necessary to find a way to solve the exclusion phenomenon that appears in space and programs. Third, when planning a space for suicide prevention, understanding of the behavior of high-risk groups should be reflected.

Recently, various researches for the improvement of Han-ok performance carried out. But, most of them are tend to come from the viewpoint of suppliers rather than that of Han-ok habitants. It means that environmental elements which real habitants feel are not reflected in the design of initial Han-ok design. Therefore, it is necessary that many researchers should analyze the degree of dwelling satisfaction derived from real life. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find the avaliable factors that need to be considered in the process of initial Han-ok design and construction through the analysis on the living performance satisfaction ratio of modern New Han-ok's habitants. Method: To achieve this goal, surveys were carried out in 83 Han-oks which actual habitants were living, located in 14 happy villages Jeonnam province. Following are survey items about residential environmental conditions; kinds of wall material, gap(connection joint between wall and wood columns) reinforcement or not, kinds of window, kinds of facilities around windows, kinds of heating source, heating types(single, multiple), financial burdens, selective heating or not and so on. Result: The results of this study may be used to improve the living performance satisfaction ratio of new Han-ok habitants and as a basis for the specifying the desired thermal comfort environment of dwelling.

The actual situation of the rural house already improved since 1970's by standard plan of rural house was surveyed, to find out residential problems and farmers'intention to the improvement, and to make some space composition. The floor space of a living room and sanitary and bath facilities be required of larger dimensions than present. Facilities of sanitary and bath should be stayed indoors. The using-much-room is necessary to washing · and dressing after farm working. The space composition of rural house be variously developed on the basis of farmers'characteristies.

This study aims to propose alternatives to improve the residential environmental of National Rental Housing for Elderly. To proceed the study, we draw elements of plan for apartment housing for Elderly through literature review, explore actual conditions of residential environment on National Rental Housing for Elderly in Ha-dong, Kim-Jae, do IPA analysis using survey data, and finally, propose prior alternatives for the improvement of National Rental Housing for Elderly based on IPA analysis results. In the results, a lot of the planning elements of apartment housing for Elderly was applied for this site. But living conditions of residents need to be improved based on the result that importance (3.55) is higher than performance (3.18). this study is critical in drawing the direction of plan and improvement alternative by surveying actual residents, and will be used as the source for the National Rental Housing for Elderly project.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the present conditions of children' Practical use of playing fields and playing facilities within their residential area, and to provide essential data relavant to building outdoor playing field for children which are fitted with children’ developmental features and also are corresponding to their needs. The subjects for this study were 866 children of the 2nd. 4th, and 6th grade living in Taegu. Data were gathered through questionnaires and analyzed by frequencies, percentile, and Chi-Sqaure test. The main results of this study are as follows : Firstly, it was found that the Playing fields children preferred most was 'within their house'. In terms of frequency making use of outdoor Playing fields. 'do not use' held the hightest proportion of children. Second, the playing facility in playing fields, being most frequently used by children, was a slide, following it a swing and a horizontal iron bar took the second, the third place respectively.

Light is a critical element for people to live and do creative activities in residential buildings. Especially, light in dinning room is the most important thing for psychological and emotional effects but people are living under the poor light environment. Most people even isn't well aware of good lighting environment. Also, the domestic lighting designers just follow the Korean Standards illuminance but it isn't appropriate to our cultural and social sides. This study investigates illuminance and color temperature of dining tables, and also analyzed the results of those in actual residential buildings.

The purpose of this study was to investigate actual condition of the modern adaptation of interior elements (wall floor ceiling door & window) in traditional house. The examined objects were 316 pictures of residential interior spaces from the 5 different monthly magazines between Jan. 1993 to Dec. 1997 The results of this study were as follows; 1. Mostly they were either parital adaptation from the original or partially transformed adaptation rather than entire adaptation of the original 2. Of the traditional interior elements adapted in residential space only specific elements were being adapted. For example. partial adaptation from the original were oiled paper flooring(Jangpan) rice papered wall (Hanji) a ceiling finish that left the rafters and beams exposed (Yondunt-chonjang) and window or door frame which is vertical lattices accented with horizontal lattices grouped into three sections(Ttisal-mun)And partially transformed adaptation were wood flooring(Chang-maru) rice apered wall(Hanji) Yondung-chonjang wind or door frame of Wan character(Wanja-mum) 3. In regard to space the mostly adapted spaces were bedrooms rather than living or dining rooms.

In today's aging society, stable residential environment is essential for the elderly living alone to be able to do activities of daily living without restrictions and cherish a satisfactory quality of life. We developed a safe and convenient multifunctional sofa by removing complex combinations and decomposing processes of the multifunctional transformable furniture, appropriate for the use by elderly living alone. We deduced the 4 main keywords and details related to the purpose of sofa by analyzing the users' physical and mental characteristics through literature review and by using 24-hour scheduling, interviews, and actual measurement. Finally, by applying this to furniture planning, we designed 4 different types of multifunctional sofa system. Production was done in cooperation with AND Co. for 2 weeks using materials, colors and adhesives selectively chosen with careful consideration of their effects on the physical, mental aspects of the user to give optimal comfortability.

삶의 질적 풍요로움을 추구하는 21세기에 생활수준이 향상되고 삶에 대한 욕구가 다양해짐에 따라 주거의 질에 관한 관심이 점점 커지고 있다. 삶의 만족도는 주거만족이라고 하는 기본적 욕구가 충족된 생활로 볼 수 있으며 이러한 욕구의 충족으로 삶의 질은 높아질 것이다. 인간은 누구나 사회관계를 맺으며 생활하고, 사회관계는 다양한 측면에서 개인들의 삶의 질에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 이에 중장년층의 주거환경과 사회적 자본의 실태를 알아보고 주거환경과 삶의 만족도와의 관계에서 사회적 자본이 미치는 영향을 실증연구를 통해 밝히고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구는 자료 수집을 위해 중장년층을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 설문지 500부를 배포하여 490부를 수거한 후 결측값이 없는 484부를 SPSS Win Ver. 21.0을 이용하여 실증 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 중장년층의 주거환경이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중장년층의 주거환경과 삶의 만족도 간에 사회적 자본의 조절효과를 분석한 결과 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과에 따라, 향후 중장년층의 보다 만족스러운 삶의 질 향상을 위한 방향과 우리나라 주거정책 수립에 유용한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
