Purpose: This study was to investigate factors influencing the Framingham risk score-Coronary heart disease (FRS-CHD) according to gender and body mass index (BMI) of adults who participated in the 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V-3). Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with secondary analysis with KNHANES V-3. The FRS-CHD scores were measured with ages, sex, blood pressure, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, smoking, and diabetes mellitus. With demographic characteristics, family history of ischemic heart disease, types (intensity) and days of physical activities, perceived stress, drinking, menopause (in female), and BMI scores were measured. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regressions. Results: FRS-CHD was significantly associated with types (intensity) and days of physical activities, educational level, occupation, and marital status, explaining 19.1~76.8% of the variance in men. FRS-CHD was significantly associated with types (intensity) and days of physical activities, menopause, and education level, explaining 55.0~59.5% of the variance in women. Conclusion: Factors influencing FRS-CHD were significantly different according to gender and BMI. To reduce the risk of coronary artery disease, it is necessary to develop gender-specific physical activity programs according to BMI.

Luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs; $L_{IR}$ > ${10^{11}}_{Lsun}$) are the most powerful objects in the local Universe. Previous work suggested that dust re-processing of starburst and/or active galactic nuclei (AGN) activity, triggered by galaxy interactions, is responsible for their enormous infrared emission. To understand the nature of LIRGs, it is essential to determine their spectral types. Optical spectral types of 115 ultraluminous infrared galaxies in the southern sky are presented using CTIO observations. The AGN fraction is on average 50% and increases with infrared luminosity. Near-infrared spectral types of 36 LIRGs are also presented based on AKARI observations. In the sample, 12 optically elusive buried AGNs are found. To investigate the evolutionary sequence of LIRGs, star formation histories of ~6000 LIRGs in the SDSS and IRAS/AKARI matched sample are derived by comparing observed optical spectra and stellar population models. AGN-dominated LIRGs are currently massive relative to starburst-dominated LIRGs, which originates from an enhancement of star formation at intermediate-ages. For ~1100 early-type LIRGs, optical and NIR fundamental planes (FPs) are constructed. The FP of LIRGs is significantly different from that of normal early-type galaxies, but the difference is minimized in low luminous and AGN-like LIRGs. These findings support that the importance of AGN is growing as infrared luminosity increases and that LIRGs follow at least in the high mass regime the standard evolutionary scenario: starburst LIRGs evolve into AGN LIRGs and finally into normal early-type galaxies.

To investigate the regulation of plant histone H2A gene expression, we isolated two H2A genes (TH254 and TH274) from wheat, which encode different types of variants. Both genes had an intron in the coding region. In the promoters, some characteristics sequences, such as Oct and Nona motifs, which are conserved among plant histone genes were also found, and they were located in a short region (about 120 bp) upstream from the putative TATA box. Analyses of promoter activity with H2A-GUS fusion genes in the transient system using tobacco protoplasts revealed novel types of positive cis-acting sequences in the TH254 promoter: a direct repeat of a 13-bp sequence (AGTTACATTATTG) and a stretch composed of an AT-rich sequence (ATATAGAAAATTAAAA) and a G-box (CACGTG). A quantitative S1 assay of the mRNA amounts from the TH254/GUS and TH274/GUG chimeric genes in stably transformed and cell cycle-synchronized tobacco cell lines showed that the promoters of both genes contained at least one cis-acting element responsible for S phase-specific expression. Histochemical analysis of transgenic tobacco plants carrying the chimeric genes showed that the promoters of the two H2A genes were both active in developing seedlings and flower organs but regulated in different manner.

본 연구는 창작활동을 위한 인공지능 플랫폼의 종류를 조사하고 활용방안을 탐색하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 창작활동의 대표적인 영역인 미술과 음악 창작 영역에서 인공지능을 배우기 위해 인공지능을 체험하고 간단한 프로그래밍을 할 수 있는 인공지능 플랫폼의 종류를 조사하였다. 그리고 각 인공지능 플랫폼이 학생들의 생각을 풍부하게 표현하고 창의력을 높이는데 사용되도록 활용방안을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 인공지능 플랫폼이 창작활동에서 학생들의 표현력과 창의력을 높이는 도구로써 활용될 수 있음을 시사하였다는데 의의가 있다.

A genomic library of a mesophilic cellulolytic anaerobe, Clostridium sp. KCTC 8440 DNA was constructed in Escherichia coli using plasmid pUC9. Clones of E. coli exhibiting carboxymethyl cellulose-hydrolyzing activity (CMCase) were isolated and divided into seven types based on the restriction enzyme patterns of recombinant plasmids. E. coli strains carrying type A genes showed activity on carboxymethyl cellulose about 7-8 times greater than clones carrying genes of other types. Restriction maps of the cloned DNA fragments were determined, and homologies between them were investigated. The results suggest that Clostridium sp. KCTC 8440 has seven distinct CMCase genes.

Children develop in direct relation and response to their physical environment, The purposes of this study were to investigate the current interior design conditions of classrooms in kindergarten and to provide interior planning guidelines for children's behavioral and developmental improvement and better educational environment. Data were collected through interview and questionnaire survey. The sample included 239 teachers who were employed in 23 kindergartens located in Pusan. The data were analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings were as follows; (1) Wood and wallpapers which provide various colors and patterns are recommendable as a classroom finish rather than paint which looks monotonous. (2) Teachers preferred 7 or 8 activity centers in classroom and furniture or partition is the best when dividing space. (3) Classroom should be large enough to locate various types of furniture that designed based on child-size and objects to store. (4) Activity centers should be lit by different types of task lighting such as floor lamp and backer to provide sufficient level of light.

New types of constrained geometry complexes comprising rigid silacycloalkyl group incorporated into the bridging position between cyclopentadienyl and amido functionalities were prepared. The catalytic activities of olefin polymerization were influenced by the change of exo-cyclic ring size on bridge-head silacycloalkyl unit. It has been noted that the activities of this unique series increase with increasing size of the silacycloalkyl bridge and reach the maximum in six-membered silacyclohexyl-bridged CGC complex. It is noteworthy that conformation of silacycloalkanes gives rise to enhanced catalytic activity of the titanium center although the cyclic ring and titanium center are far remoted from each other.

This study examined the effects of closeness of peer relationships on intersubjectivity in young children's joint story making of wordless picture books. The joint story making activity of 32 five-year-old children was videotaped and transcribed, and the structure and negotiation types of interaction were examined by Goncu's (1993a) measure of intersubjectivity. Results showed (1) closeness of peer relationship was related to the structure of intersubjectivity children working with very close peers exhibited more turns. (2) Children working with very close peers used more extension and acceptance negotiation types, whereas the children working with non-close peers used more building-on of own ideas and irrelevant acts of negotiation.

In this paper, we propose a new progressive image transmission system including the image coding scheme that efficiently uses the relationship between the properties of a spatial image and its wavelet transform. Firstly, an original image is decomposed into several layers by the wavelet transform, and simultaneously decomposed into 2"x2" blocks. Each image is classified into two image types according to the standard deviations of its blocks. And then each block is categorized into two regions by different thresholds according to the image types, i.e., significant activity region (SAR) and insignificant activity region (IAR). Simulation results show that the proposed coding method has better performance than the EZW and SPIHT in terms of image quality and transmitted bit-rate. In addition, it can be applied to the applications requiring the progressive image transmission.nsmission.
