4륜 조향시스템이 차량의 주행역학적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of four-wheel steering system on vehicle handling characterisitcs)

  • Equipments of passenger cars with modern technologies are gaining their importance. Related with such developments, the four-wheel steering system (4WS) was introduced recently to a few passenger cars in the market. The most important research goal on this new steering system is improvement of active safety, in other words, improvement of handling characteristics of vehicle stability and maneuverability. This paper presents a computer-based study about the effects of 4WS system on the vehicle handling characteristics. A simple bicycle model of 2 d.o.f. is used for the development of four wheel control algorithms of 4WS system, and the rear wheel control strategies are applied to a complex vehicle model of 16 d.o.f. for simulation of selected ISO-driving tests. The 4WS systems, which reduce the sideslip angle at the mass center of vehicle to almost zero, show much improved handling characteristics compared to that of the conventional 2WS system. These 4WS systems, however, result in vehicles with eigen-steer characteristics of extreme understeer behaviour.

Active Cancellation of PMSM Torque Ripple Caused by Magnetic Saturation for EPS Applications

  • This paper deals with a control method to reduce the torque ripple of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for electric power steering (EPS) systems. Such an application requires a very low torque ripple in order to maintain a good steering feel. However, because of spatial limitations, it cannot help having a partial saturation in the iron core of the PMSM for an EPS system, and this saturation results in a significant torque ripple. Thus, this paper analyzes the torque ripple caused by the magnetic saturation of a PMSM and proposes a method with respect to inductance measurement to verify the partial saturation. In addition, it is shown that a compensation current is needed in order to minimize the torque ripple when a PMSM is driven in the high torque region. The estimation process of the current and the torque ripple decreased by the current are presented and verified with test results.

  • With the popularization of autonomous driving technology, safety has emerged as a more important criterion. However, there are no assessment protocol or methods for AES (Autonomous Emergency Steering). So, this study proposes AES assessment protocol and scenario corresponding to collision avoidance Car-to-Car scenario of Euro NCAP in order to prepare for obstacles that appear after the emergency steering of LV (Leading Vehicle) avoiding obstacles in front of. Autoware-based autonomous driving stack is developed to test and simulate scenario in CARLA. Using developed stack, it is confirmed that obstacle avoidance is successfully performed in CARLA, and the AES performance of VUT (Vehicle Under Test) is evaluated by applying the proposed assessment protocol and scenario.

상호 결합을 이용한 광대역 E-면 H 섹터 혼 위상 배열 안테나 설계 (The Design of a Broadband E-plane H Sectoral Horn Phased Array Antenna Using Mutual Coupling)

  • H 섹터 혼 안테나는 일정한 빔 커버리지를 가지면서 빔 조향을 하는 광대역 위상 배열 송신기의 복사 소자로 유용하다. 본 논문에서는 상호 결합을 이용하여 3:1 주파수 대역과 ${\pm}60^{\circ}$의 빔 조향 범위를 갖는 광대역 E-면 H 섹터 혼 위상 배열 안테나를 설계하였다. 주자계면에서 반전력 빔 폭이 $30{\sim}50^{\circ}$을 갖는 H 섹터 혼 안테나를 설계하였다. 도파관 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 상호 결합을 포함하는 능동 반사 계수를 계산하였고, 광대역 주파수 범위에서 상호 결합에 의하여 능동 반사 특성이 개선되었다. 이러한 결과를 이용하여 $8{\times}1$ H 섹터 혼 위상 배열안테나를 제작하였다. 주자계면에서의 반전력 빔 폭과 능동 반사 계수의 측정 결과는 시뮬레이션 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 빔 조향된 복사 빔들의 첨두치 패턴은 능동 소자 패턴과 잘 일치하였다. 3:1 주파수 대역과 빔 조향 범위에서 능동 반사 계수는 대부분 0.3 이하로 측정되었다.

Calculating Array Patterns Using an Active Element Pattern Method with Ground Edge Effects

  • The array patterns of a patch array antenna were calculated using an active element pattern (AEP) method that considers ground edge effects. The classical equivalent radiation model of the patch antenna, which is characterized by two radiating slots, was adopted, and the AEPs that include mutual coupling were precisely calculated using full-wave simulated S-parameters. To improve the accuracy of the calculation, the edge diffraction of a ground plane was incorporated into AEP using the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction. The array patterns were then calculated on the basis of the computed AEPs. The array patterns obtained through the conventional AEP approach and the AEP method that takes ground edge effects into account were compared with the findings derived through full-wave simulations conducted using a High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and FEKO software. Results showed that the array patterns calculated using the proposed AEP method are more accurate than those derived using the conventional AEP technique, especially under a small number of array elements or under increased steering angles.

  • 능동적인 비전 시스템의 전형적인 한 테마는 카메라의 시선 고정 문제이다. 여기서 카메라의 시선 고정이란 동적인 물체 상의 지정된 한 점이 항시 이미지의 중앙부에 놓이도록 카메라의 자세를 조정하는 것으로서, 이를 위해서는 카메라에 비친 영상정보를 분석하는 기능과 카메라의 자세를 제어하는 두 가지 기능이 결합되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 영상분석과 자세제어가 한 개의 프레임 하에서 설계되는 카메라의 시선 고정을 위한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 때 제작시의 어려움을 피하고 실시간 응용을 위해서 본 알고리즘은 카메라의 calibration이나 3차원 거리 정보의 복원을 필요로 하지 않도록, 그리고 닫힌 형태(closed-form)가 되도록 설계된다.

비선형 타이어모델을 이용한 완전능동형 4WS 제어방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Full Active 4WS Control Method Using Nonlinear Tire Model)

  • The understeer characteristics of four wheel steering system(4WS system) in a high speed region have a negative effect upon the yaw velocity, leading to a decrease in the handling ability of vehicle. As a result, even if the side slip angle of vehicle can be kept up a minimum, a driver must compensate a decrease in yaw velocity by increasing the steering wheel angle in order to track the desired vehicle path. In this study, to keep the side slip angle of vehicle at zero and achieve a suitable yaw velocity in vehicle motion, a full active 4WS system(FA 4WS system) with actively steerable front and rear wheels is presented based on a nonlinear vehicle model and a model following control of yaw velocity. And the analysis results show the fat that, besides the excellent stability of vehicle, the FA 4WS system is able to realize better handling performance of vehicle than the previous 4WS systems in the high speed region.

ENHANCEMENT OF VEHICLE STABILITY BY ACTIVE GEOMETRY CONTROL SUSPENSION SYSTEM

  • This paper presents the enhancement of vehicle stability by active geometry control suspension(AGCS) system as the world-first, unique and patented chassis technology, which has more advantages than the conventional active chassis control systems in terms of the basic concept. The control approach of the conventional systems such as active suspensions(slow active, full active) and four wheel steering(4WS) system is directly to control the same direction with acting load to stabilize vehicle behavior resulting from external inputs, but AGCS controls the cause of vehicle behaviors occurring from vehicle and thus makes the system stable because it works as mechanical system after control action. The effect of AGCS is the remarkable enhancement of avoidance performance in abrupt lane change driving by controlling the rear bump toe geometry.
