In this paper, we present a novel approach named a shared library as an active memory object for application software development of large-scale real-time systems. Unlike the general passive shared memory, shared library proposed in this paper can be activated as an execution object. Moreover this is not tightly coupled with application programs unlike the normal libraries. To implement this mechanism, operating system makes the shared memory as an active object and shared library realizes the indirect call structure. This mechanism enhanced the utilization of main memory and communication performance. And this is successfully applied to the HANbit ACE ATM switching system and the TDX-10 switching system.

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators in controlling the motion of micro active catheter. The dynamic behavior of SMA is obtained by several experiments for the design of the controller. With the control parameters obtained in experiments, temperature feedback control algorithm is proposed and realized. The prototype of micro active catheter is fabricated, and its control performance which uses the designed controller is investigated. The results obtained show the potential of the SMA as viable means for actuating the micro active catheter.

This paper presents a simulation study on the description of the motion and the control of an active catheter actuator with multi-link structure actuated by Shape Memory Alloy(SMA). The model of an active catheter adopted in this paper has 3 links, and the individual links are composed of 3 micro coils of SMA for the omni-directional motion. In order to analyze the motions of multi-link structure, 3-dimensional kinematics description is presented. Also, the motion control of the end point of an active catheter using simple Neural Network is shown based on GUI(Graphic User Interface) system.

Chongmyung-tang(CMT, 聰明湯), oriental herbal medicine which consists of Polygaglae Radix(遠志), Acori Graminei Rhizoma(石菖蒲) and Hoelen(白茯神) has effect on amnesia, dementia. In order to evaluate effect of CMT on memory and learning in mice, CMT extract was used for studies. This paper describes the effects of CMT extract on memory and learning processes by using the passive and active avoidance performance tests, novel object recognition task and water maze task. The CMT extract ameliorated the memory retrieval deficit induced by ethanol in the passive avoidance responses but did not affect ambulatory activity of normal mice. These results suggest that CMT has an ameliorating effect on memory retrieval impairment. CMT extract decreased spontaneous motor activity(SMA) in the latter sessions of memory registration in active avoidance responses. These results suggest that CMT has partly transquilizing or antianxiety effects. In novel object recognition task to measure visual recognition memory, CMT-administered mice enhanced in long term memory for 1-3 days. In water maze task to measure spatial learning, which requires the activation of NMDA receptors in the hippocampus, spatial learning in CMT-administered mice was faster than in wild-type mice. These results suggest that CMT enhances memory and activates NMDA receptors.
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) have emerged as a novel functional material that is being increasingly applied in diverse fields including medical, aeronautical and structural engineering to be used in the active, passive and semi-active structural control devices. This paper is mainly aimed at evaluating the ductility and response modification factor of the steel plate shear wall (SPSW) frames with and without the Ni-Ti shape memory alloys. To this end, different configurations were utilized, in which the walls were used in the first, third, middle, and all stories. The models were numerically analyzed using OpenSees Software. The obtained results indicate that improving the shape memory properties of alloys can greatly enhance the ductility and response modification factor. Furthermore, the model whose first and third stories are equipped with the SMA shear wall was found to be 290% more ductile, with a greater response modification factor compared to the unequipped frame.
Objective : The effect Saenggitang (GT), which has been used for amnesia, in Oriental Medicine, on memory and learning ability, was investigated. Methods : Hot water extracts (HWE) of SGT were used for the studies. In passive avoidance performances (step through test), active avoidance performances (lever press test), Motor activity, pentobarbital-induced sleep, 20 and 50 mg/100g of SGT-HWE ameliorated the memory retrieval deficit induced by 40% ethanol. Results : The SGT-HWE did not affect the ambulatory activity of normal mice in normal condition. 20 and 50 mg/100g of SGT-HWE enhanced contextual fear memory, but not cued fear memory in a fear conditioning task, which requires the activation of the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartase) receptor. SGT-HWE did not affect the motor activity measured by the titling type ambulometer test performed immediately and 24 hr after the administration. SGT-HWE prolonged the sleeping time induced by 50 mg/kg pentobarbital in mice and decreased SMA (spontaneous motor activity) in active avoidance performances (lever press test). Conclusion : These results indicate that the SGT-HWE have an improving effect on the memory retrieval disability induced by ethanol and may act as a stimulating factor for activating the NMDA receptor. and the SGT-HWE has a tranquilizing and anti-anxiety action.

In this study, we have investigated indium tin zinc oxide (ITZO) as an active channel for non-volatile memory (NVM) devices. The electrical and memory characteristics of NVM devices using multi-stack gate insulator SiO2/SiOx/SiOxNy (OOxOy) with Si-rich SiOx for charge storage layer were also reported. The transmittance of ITZO films reached over 85%. Besides, ITZO-based NVM devices showed good electrical properties such as high field effect mobility of 25.8 cm2/V.s, low threshold voltage of 0.75 V, low subthreshold slope of 0.23 V/dec and high on-off current ratio of $1.25{\times}107$. The transmission Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy of SiOx charge storage layer with the richest silicon content showed an assignment at peaks around 2000-2300 cm-1. It indicates that many silicon phases and defect sources exist in the matrix of the SiOx films. In addition, the characteristics of NVM device showed a retention exceeding 97% of threshold voltage shift after 104 s and greater than 94% after 10 years with low operating voltage of +11 V at only 1 ms programming duration time. Therefore, the NVM fabricated by high transparent ITZO active layer and OOxOy memory stack has been applied for the flexible memory system.
The effort of implementing realistic 3-D depth on 2-D images has been continued persistently with a theoretical understanding of depth perception and its related technical development. The present article briefly reviews a number of popular stereoscopes for studying stereoscopic depth perception according to their implementation principles, and introduces a behavioral experiment as a technical example in which the active-shutter glasses were used. In the present study, participants were tested for their visual memory against perceived depth among a set of items. The depth of the memory and test items was manipulated to be 1) monocular, 2) binocular, or 3) both-monocular-and-binocular respectively. The memory performance was worst in the binocular-depth condition, and best however in the both-monocular-and-binocular condition. These results indicate that visual memory may benefit more from monocular depth than stereoscopic depth, and further suggest that the storage of depth information into visual memory would require both binocular and monocular information for its optimal memory performance.
Three types of learning and memory tests (Morris water maze, active and passive avoidance) were performed in rats following intracerebroventricular infusion of ethylcholine aziridium (AF64A). In Morris water maze, AF64A-treated rats showed the delayed latencies to find the platform iron 6th day after the infusion. In pretrained rats, AF64A caused the significant delay of latency at 7th days but not 8th day. In the active avoidance for the pretrained rats, the escape latency was significantly delayed in AF64A-treatment. The percentages of avoidance in AF64A-treated rats were less increased than those in the control. Especially, the percentage of no response in the AF64A-treated rats was markedly increased in the first half trials. In the passive avoidance, AF64A-treated rats shortened the latency 1.5 h after the electronic shock, but not 24 h. AF64A also caused the pretrained rats to shorten the latency 7th day after the infusion, but not 8th day. These results indicate that AF64A might impair the learning and memory. However, these results indicate that the disturbed memory by AF64A might rapidly recover after the first retrain. Furthermore, these results suggest that AF64A may be a useful agent for the animal model of learning for Spatial cognition .
