Al-Zn alloy/$MnO_2$, seawater cell was considered as a primary aqueous cell with an average voltage range from 1.0 to 1.1V, and the electrolyte of seawater was uptaken into the cell. Eventually, the capacity of its usage will be used for long-term. However, the more use of this cell, the higher corrosion phenomenon of the electrode occurred. Due to its corrosion phenomenon, one main default has been observed with gradual decrease during a discharge process. In this research, a common-used active material for anode was $LiNiO_2$. An active material for cathode, $Zn_{X}FeS_2$ was synthesized in high temperature by uptaken a small amount of 1.3 wt% of ZnS into $FeS_2$, one of the transition-metal dichalcogenides in high temperature. Consequently, based on their usages shown above, this secondary aqueous lithium cell could be more developed. This cell was shown as remarkable charge/discharge performance during the charge/discharge processes. This cathode with active material was given a considerable efficiency of inserting $Li^+$ ions. Moreever, in accordance with the characteristic of the crystal structure for $Zn_{x}FeS_2$, a small amount of ZnS was added which made it possible to reduce prominently velocity of corrosion during the charge/discharge cycle. By applying those merits, Al-Zn alloy/$MnO_2$ seawater cell will be used as a fundamental data in order to transform into a secondary aqueous cell.
Puimonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis is very rare, especially when accompanied by active pulmonary. tuberculosis. A patient was hospitalized due to excessive dyspnea and she was diagnosed with active pulmonary tuberculosis by a sputum AFB smear. The HRCT taken after hospitalization showed multiple micronodules and tiny cysts. An open lung biopsy confirmed the coexistence of pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
This paper proposes new active switched-capacitor and switched-inductor Z-source inverter (ASC/SL-ZSI) topologies, which can provide a higher boost ability with a small shoot-through time. The proposed ASC/SL-ZSIs inherit all of the advantages of the classical ZSI, and have a stronger voltage boost inversion ability when compared with the classical ZSI. Thus, the output ac voltage quality is significantly improved. In addition, more cells can be cascaded in the impedance network in order to obtain a very high boost ability. The proposed topologies can be applied to photovoltaic or fuel-cell generation systems with low-voltage renewal sources due to their wide range of obtainable voltages. Both simulations and the experimental results are carried out in order to verify performance of the proposed topologies.

To cope with recently increasing demand for data traffics, heterogeneous networks have been actively studied, where small cells are deployed within a macro cell coverage with the same frequency band. To mitigate the interference from the macro cell to small cells, an enhanced Inter-cell Interference Coordination (eICIC) technique has been proposed, where ABS (Almost Blank Subframe) is used in time domain. However, there is a waste of resource since no data is transmitted in a macro-cell in ABS. In this paper, we propose a new interference management method by using a 3D sector beam based on Active Antenna System (AAS), where Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to reduce the antenna gain toward a small-cell. With the proposed scheme, the macro-cell and small cells can transmit data at the same time with the AAS antenna pattern generating reduced interference to small cells. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by using an LTE-Advanced system level simulator.
Phytase improves the bioavailability of phytate phosphorus in plant foods to humans and animals, and reduces the phosphorus pollution of animal waste. We have engineered the cell surface of the yeast. Saccharomyces cerevisiae, by anchoring active fungal phytase on its cell wall, in order to apply it as a dietary supplement containing bioconversional functions in animal foods and a whole cell bio-catalyst for the treatment of waste. The phytase gene (phyA) of Aspergillus niger with a signal peptide of rice amylase 1A (Ramy1A) was fused with the gene encoding the C-terminal half (320 amino acid residues from the C-terminus) of yeast ${\alpha}-agglutinin$, a protein which is involved in mating and is covalently anchored to the cell wall. The resulting fusion construct was introduced into S. cerevisiae and expressed under the control of the constitutive glyceraldehydes-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPD) promoter. Phytase plate assay revealed that the surface-engineered cell exhibited a catalytically active opaque zone which was restricted to the margin of the colony. Additionally, the phytase activity was detected in the cell fraction, but was not detected in the culture medium when it was grown in liquid. These results indicate that the phytase was successfully anchored to the cell surface of yeast and was displayed as its active form. The amount of recombinant phytase on the surface of yeast cells was estimated to be 16,000 molecules per cell.

The pars distalis of the Korean frogs (Rana dybowskii Guenther) during hibernating and active periods was observed with the electron microscope. Seven cell types were classified according to the size and shape of secretory granules and to the ultrastructural characteristics. There were many differences between hibernating and active frogs in type 5 cells. Therefore the following results were observed. Cell type 1; This type cell contains spherical secretory granules, $375{\sim}687m{\mu}$ in diameter. Cell type 2; This type cell contains various secretory granules, $250{\sim}437m{\mu}$ in diameter Cell type 3; Spherical and rod-shaped granules, $l25{\sim}187m{\mu}$ in diameter were observed. Cell type 4; In this type cell, the electron density is the lowest and the density of granules is the highest of all type cells. This type cell contains various secretory granules and large secretory granules, $2l0{\sim}420m{\mu}$ in diameter, were also observed. Cell type 5; The electron density of this cells is similar to that of type 4 cells. The density of granules is lower than that of type 4 cells. And the shapes of the secretory granules are similar to those of type 4 cells. But many rod shaped granules, $200{\sim}863m{\mu}$ in diameter, were also observed. Cell type 6; This type was similar to type 2. The electron density of cytoplasm is very low. Spherical granules, $232{\sim}316m{\mu}$ in diameter, were observed. Cell type 7; This type of cell has no secretory granules. This cell is not developed very well. The type 5 cells in hibernating frogs are different from cells in active frogs. In type 5 cells, many secretory granules were observed during active period. But the number of secretory granules were greatly declined and there were many vacuoles in cytoplasm during hibernating period.

Optimal conditions for a high cell density fermentation were investigated in a recombinant Escherichia coli producing salmosin, a platelet aggregation inhibitor. The optimized carbon and nitrogen sources were glycerol 10 g/l, yeast extract 30 g/l, and bacto-tryptone 10 g/l, yielding the dry cell weight (DCW) of 10.61 g/l in a 500 ml flask culture. The late-stage induction with 1% L-arabinose in a 5 l jar fermentor showed the highest DCW of 65.70 g/l after 27 h of the fed-batch fermentation. Around 2,200 mg/l of the protein was expressed as an inclusion body that was then refolded to obtain the active salmosin of 96 mg/l. We also confirmed the inhibitory activity against platelet aggregation of the active salmosin from the high cell density fermentation.

The performance of free-breathing polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) was studied experimentally and the effect of cathode separator structure on the cell performance was investigated. Cathode separators were used for the cell with $18cm^2$ active area. In channel type, the contact resistance is low, and the nature convection. which is strongly affected by the cross-sectional shape of cathode separator channel, is dominant in a cell performance. The maximum power density with $18cm^2$ active area is $105mW/cm^2$ using the 10mm depth and 2mm width channel. A computational analysis was optimum structure of free-breathing channel type PEMFC for robotic application.
Background: Arm protein lost in epithelial cancers, on chromosome X (ALEX) is a novel subgroup within the armadillo (ARM) family, which has one or two ARM repeat domains as opposed to more than six-thirteen repeats in the classical Armadillo family members. Materials and Methods: In the study, we explore the biological functions of ALEX1 in breast cancer cells. Overexpression of ALEX1 and silencing of ALEX1 were performed with SK-BR3 and MCF-7 cell lines. Cell proliferation and colony formation assays, along with flow cytometry, were carried out to evaluate the roles of ALEX1. Results: ALEX1 overexpression in SK-BR3 breast cancer cells inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis. Furthermore, depletion of ALEX1 in MCF-7 breast cancer cells increased proliferation and inhibited apoptosis. Additional analyses demonstrated that the overexpression of ALEX1 activated the intrinsic apoptosis cascades through up-regulating the expression of Bax, cytosol cytochrome c, active caspase-9 and active caspase-3 and down-regulating the levels of Bcl-2 and mitochondria cytochrome c. Simultaneouly, silencing of ALEX1 inhibited intrinsic apoptosis cascades through down-regulating the expression of Bax, cytosol cytochrome c, active caspase-9, and active caspase-3 and up-regulating the level of Bcl-2 and mitochondria cytochrome c. Conclusions: Our data suggest that ALEX1 as a crucial tumor suppressor gene has been involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis in breast cancer, which may serve as a novel candidate therapeutic target.
The morphological changes of Sertoli cells of the Korean native pheasant were studied in the active and inactive spermatogenic phases. Twenty-four male of the pheasants were studied in the active (April~June) and inactive(August~March) phase. These data are useful in studying the male genital organs of the Korean native pheasant. Light microscopic morphological changes of the Sertoli cells were studied on paraffin-embedded sections stained with hematoxylin-eosin stain. Ultrastructural changes of Sertoli cells were investigated of ultrathin section using electron microscope. Results are summarized as follows: During the active phase, the average diameter of seminiferous tubule was $245.33{\pm}29.93{\mu}m$ and was largely decreased by $94.50{\pm}14.10{\mu}m$, and the thickness of interstitial tissue was comparatively increased during the inactive phase. During the active phase, in the cytoplasmic process of Sertoli cell and lipid droplets appeared disperse. Well-developed smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum and microtuble were observed in the cytoplasmic process. The nuclei of Sertoli cells were adjacent to the basement membrane. The size of nuclei was reduced and nuclei of Sertoli cells were densely packed within the tubule. Few collagen fibers, fibroblast and various sizes of lipid droplets were observed in the interstitial cell of the seminiferous tubule.
