The Application of UV curing technique for poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) floor tiles coating has improved the quality of PVC floor. Several formulations were made including acrylated oligomers based on a polyurethane were blended with reactive monomers, photoinitiators and other additives. The used oligomers are commercial aliphatic urethane acrylates. Thin films were prepared on PVC tiles by bar coating with different formulations using UV radiation. The coating resins were characterized by FTIR. The properties of UV-cured films such as gloss and adhesion were examined. The properties of UV-cured films dependent on the influence of composition and processing conditions was studied.
The free radical polymerization of styrene was initiated with azobis(isobutyronitrile) in the presence of benzene sulfonyl chloride. Analysis of the terminal structures of the obtained polystyrene with $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy revealed the presence of a phenyl sulfonyl group at the ${\alpha}$-end and a chlorine atom at the ${\omega}$-end of each polystyrene chain. The terminal chlorine atom in the polystyrene chains was further confirmed through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene and methyl acrylate using the obtained polystyrenes as macroinitiators and CuCl/2,2'-bipyridine as the catalyst system. GPC traces of the products obtained in ATRP at different reaction times were clearly shifted to higher molecular weight direction, indicating that nearly all the macroinitiator chains initiated ATRP of the second monomers. In addition, the number-average molecular weights of the polystyrenes increased directly proportional to the monomer conversions, and agreed well with the theoretical ones.

An acrylic resin was synthesized with several monomers, styrene(St), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(2-HEMA), n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and acetoacetoxyethl methacrylate(AAEM) to prepare a high-solid coatings. Then, a high-solid acryl/melamine coatings was prepared by curing the acrylic resin with a curing agent, hexamethoxymethylmelamine(HMMM). The curing behavior of the acrylic resin with HMMM was investigated by the Ozawa method using DSC. For AAEM/HMMM and 2-HEMA/HMMM curing reactions, activation energies were 33.01 and 27.12 kcal/mol and frequency factors were $9.54{\times}10^{15}}$ and 1.53{\times}10^{13} $min^{-1}$, respectively. From the results, it was found out that 2-HEMA showed higher reactivity with the curing agent than AAEM.

In this study, emulsion polymerizations for synthesizing acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive(PSA) were carried out using 2-ethylhexyl acrylate(2-EHA), n-butyl acrylate(n-BA), methyl metacrylate(MMA) as fundamental monomers and acrylic acid(AAc) as a functional monomer in the presence of anionic SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). To obtain the optimized synthetic condition in the polymerization, we analyzed the polymerization variables such as the effect of surfactant concentration and hydrophilic lipophilic values(HLB). At the same time, the final adhesive properties were also analyzed by the function of the initiator concentration and buffer concentration. In the results, the most stable emulsion was obtained at the surfactant concentrations between 3 and 5 wt%. It was also determined the effect of HLB value of nonionic surfactant and the initiator concentrations on the gel content. Stable emulsion is obtained using the surfactant having HLB value of 12.3. The rate of emulsion polymerization was increased at the initiator concentration greater than 1 wt%, but the stability of the emulsion was decreased. Finally, the effect of the buffer concentrations on the pH and the conversion of the acrylic emulsion product were experimentally measured. At the sodium bicarbonate concentration above 0.4 wt%, the buffer infulence was apparent. The buffer effect was fully acceptable at the concentrations between 0.6 and 0.8 wt% regardless of the monomer composition.
In this study, acrylic resins with solids content of 75% were prepared by addition polymerization of n-butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) and acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM) monomers. At this time, the glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of the acrylic resin was changed to 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$, and the hydroxyl value (OH value) was changed to 60, 90 and 120. As a result, the viscosity of acrylic resin increased with increasing $T_g$ and hydroxyl (OH) value. The synthesized acrylic resin was designed to have a high cross-link density to maintain high elasticity and high durability. The crosslinked acrylic resin was used to prepare an acrylic urethane clear coating by curing reaction with a block isocyanate (Desmodur BL-3175). The physical properties of the clear paints were analyzed by measuring viscosity, adhesion, pencil hardness and $60^{\circ}$ specular gloss. Acrylic urethane clear coatings were prepared as specimens and evaluated for various properties to be applied as top coatings for coil coating. The prepared coatings were excellent in adhesion, excellent in $60^{\circ}$ specular gloss and pencil hardness, and eco-friendly.
After pressurized impregnation treatment, which has been proposed as an effective conservation method for stone cultural property, was executed with methyl metacrylate (MMA), MMA-butyl acrylate (PMB73) mixture and MMA-vinyl trimethoxy silane (PMV5) co-monomer mixture, the physical-chemical properties on the sand stone and the granite impregnated were evaluated. Compared to the case of granite, the impregnation ratios of sand stone showed larger values in the range of 3.2 to 3.7 wt% and these were increased up to 32% when the decompression process was applied to autoclave. The physical properties of sand stone such as anti-moisture property, flexural strength, impact property and ultrasonic velocity were also higher values than those of granite, which can be interpreted by high impregnation ratio resulted in many void within sand stone. The impact failure energy was 1.22 J for PMMA, 1.84 J for PMB73, and 2.8 J for PMV5, respectively. Since the inorganic affinity of treatment agent is more effective than the molecular structure of acrylic agent, PMV5 improved inorganic property indicates the optimum impact property.
The physical properties of graft polymerized silk fibre were investigated with various vinyl monomers. 1. The graft polymerization of styrene and methyl methacrylate onto raw silk reduced the tenacity and elongation of raw silk due to fixation of sericin covering silk fibre in, but the styrene grafting was more effective for sericin fixation of raw silk than the methyl methacrylate one. 2. The water absorbability of glycidyl methacrylate grafted silk increased 14.6% greater than that of methyl methacrylate grafted silk at the same degree of grafting polymerization. 3. The degree of grafting polymerization was increased mostly with ethylene glycol methacrylate. The water absorbability of ethylene glycol methacrylate grafted silk was higher than that of glycidyl methacrylate or ethyl acrylate grafted silk. But the grafted silk fabric increased the fabric flexural rigidity which was negatively related with the favorability of fabric hand-touch, as compared with that of nongrafted silk fabric. 4. The evenness of graft polymerization could be improved by agitating the polymerization bath at the fixed interval by reducing the inter size deviation of grafted silk skein and the thickness deviation of grafted silk fabric.
Multi core-shell composite particles were prepared by the water-born emulsion polymerization of various core monomers such as methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl methacrylate (EMA) and shell monomers such as MMA, EMA, 2-hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and methacrylic acid (MAA) in the presence of different concentrations of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). The following conclusions are drawn from the conversion, particle size and distribution, average molecular weight, molecular structure, glass transition temperature with DSC, contact angle after plasma treatment, tensile strength and isothermal decomposition kinetics. In the case of the concentration of 0.02 wt% SDBS, the conversion of MMA core-(EMA/GMA) shell composite particles was excellent as 98.5%. In the case of the concentration of 0.03 wt% SDBS, the particle size of EMA core-(MMA/GMA) shell composite particles was high as $0.48{\mu}m$. We confirmed that 3 points of glass transition temperatures appear for multi core-shell composite particles compared to 1~2 points of glass transition temperatures appear for general copolymer particles. Overall, the adhesion strength of shell composite particles was in the order of EMA/MAA > EMA/2-HEMA > EMA/GMA.
In this study, we designed an environment friendly, water-based adhesive using the acrylic emulsion method as a replacement for solvent-based adhesives, which are most commonly used in layered laminates for flexible food packaging. We designed adhesives with different combinations of anionic, non-ionic, and phosphoric ester surfactants, and with different concentrations of chain transfer agent (CTA). We also examined the effect of the degree of cross-linking by synthesizing and comparing 8 test group adhesives with different types of functional monomers. Additionally, we synthesized 2 other test group pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) using styrene/alpha-methyl styrene/acrylic acid (SAA) semipolymer dispersing agents (with molecular weights of 13,000 g/mol and 8,600 g/mol, respectively) to replace the conventional surfactants. We evaluated whether the 10 test group pressure-sensitive adhesives met the basic physical property criteria required for flexible food packaging by carrying out a physical analysis of their glass transition temperature (Tg), particle size, adhesion, and molecular weight. In our test, 2 test group adhesives manufactured with the combination of anionic and non-ionic surfactants, CTA concentration of 0.2%, and functional monomers of hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) demonstrated molecular weight and flexibility suitable for flexible packaging, with low adhesiveness and small particle size.

UV-curable coatings have been used in various industries due to their advantages such as high mechanical property, good solvent resistance, fast curing process and low volatile organic compounds. However, a lack of flexibility of UV-cured films is a weak point for the pre-coated system of roll-to-roll process. In this study, UV-curable polycarbonate-based methacrylates were synthesized with polycarbonate diol, isophorone diisocyanate and 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate to improve flexibility of the UC-cured films. The effects of polyol molecular weight, content of photoinitiator and monomers on the UV-curing behavior, flexibility and properties were investigated. The UV-curing behavior was measured by a photo-DSC, the pendulum hardness, tensile strength, viscoelastic properties were also evaluated.
