Acidic degreasing agent(AADA) was prepared by blending sorbitol, Newpol PE-68, Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate, Tetronix T-70l, MJU-100A, n-octanoic acid, and phosphoric acid, The physical properties of AADA tested with aluminum specimen showed the following results ; when 3wt% AADA-5 was performed at 70$^{\circ}C$, the degreasing rate was 95% which is comparitively good, and the percentage of etching was 0.277% which was found to be less than that of commercialized product. when 20wt% of AADA-5 was added at 65$^{\circ}C$, the percentage of derusting was 91% and the good defoaming effect proved by following low foaming power tests respectively : Ross and Miles, and Ross and Clark methods.
Highly chemo- and regioselective reaction of hydroxybenzenes with ${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated compounds in acidic ionic liquid l-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulphate ([BMIM]HSO4) was reported for the first time. A series of oxa-Michael adducts and Friedel-Crafts alkylated products were synthesized with good yields. The acidic ionic liquid could be easily recycled for at least 5 times with only minor loss in activity.
A polymer support immobilized acidic ionic liquid was prepared by copolymerization of 3-vinyl-1-(4-sulfonic acid)butylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate with styrene in the presence of benzoyl peroxide and its primary application as a solid acidic heterogeneous catalyst to the synthesis of Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines through a one-pot three-component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate was investigated. The results showed that this heterogeneous catalyst has high catalytic activity and the desired products were obtained in good to high yields. Moreover, the catalyst was found to be reusable and a considerable catalytic activity still could be achieved after third run.
Boring behaviour and drilling mechanism were investigated by visual observations. In this study, of two kinds of holes (the outer and inner holes) which are formed by drilling of boring gastropod Lunatia fortunei (Naticidae), the diameters of the outer holes are broader and larger than those of the inner holes, and their holes look like the crater in shape, as seen in all valves of bivalves bored by Naticidae species. Two kinds of glands (the accessory boring gland and accessory salivary gland) on the foots of boring gastropods have been investigated. Of them, it has been confirmed that only the accessory salivary glands on the foots secreted sulphuric (acidic) components in the mucus (secretion), while the accessory boring glands on the foots did not secrete their components. In this study, we confirmed that L. fortunei possess the accessory boring gland on the foot, as seen in most species in Naticidae. Accoeding to the results of the experiment of the blue litmus paper tests of the mucus (secretions) secreted from the accessory boring gland the color of the blue litmus paper did not turn red in color because chemical components of mucus (secretion) secreted from the accessory boring gland on the foot of L. fortunei (boring gastropod) were not acidic components. It is supposed that the mucus, which is secreted from the accessory boring gland, contained gelatin-like substances or enzymes without acidic components, as already reported in Naticidae species. Therefore, these substances may be involved in softening the surface of the valves of M. veneriformis. Consequently, it is assumed thar L. fortunei bores holes through the shells of molluscs by means of following 3 methods: (1) a softening of the calcareous shells of M. veneriformis with chemical secretions (including gellatin-like substances or enzyme except for acidic components) from the accessory boring glands, (2) mechanical rasping with the radula, (3) a combination of both. In this study, particularly, acidic components, which are involved in softening the surface of the shells, are not associated with the boring mechanism of L. fortunei because chemical acidic components were not detected in the mucus (secretion), as found in Naticidae species.

The cleaning efficiency of papermaking felt which is contaminated with fiber fines and various micro-materials was investigated and compared between the application of enzyme and commercial detergent. It was found that the cleaning efficiency by the treatment of acidic-based detergent was more efficient than that of alkaline-based one in the conventional commercial detergent. it was also observed that the treatment design of first acidic-based detergent treatment to second alkaline-based detergent procedure was better in the cleaning efficiency, compared to alkaline based-to-acidic based one. The cleaning property of felt with enzyme was resulted in good cleaning efficiency, without any addition of surfactant. Especially, the enzyme treatment under alkaline condition (pH 10) showed a better cleaning result than that under acidic condition(pH 5). The addition of nonionic surfactant to the enzyme increased the cleaning efficiency of felt and decreased the cationic demand of wastewater. These results showed more favour than the application of conventional commercial detergent.

It is known that the fluoric resin has the most outstanding properties in the extremely acidic environment of high temperature. However, this resin is the thermal hardening type that needs long time heat treatments above $250^{\circ}C$. It's impossible to use in situ in the extremely acidic environment such as a huge FGD ductworks or industrial chemical tanks. Furthermore, even the natural hardening type fluoric coatings which can be hardened less than $120^{\circ}C$ can not be applied to the highly acidic environmental plants because of its chemical resistance. In this study, new fluoric coatings that has excellent thermal resistance, chemical resistance and corrosion resistance has been developed in order to solve above problems and to be applied to the large plant structures in the field. These newly developed coatings are organic and inorganic composite type that have fluoric rubber(100 wt%), fluoric resin(5~50 wt%), oxalates(5~30 wt%), inorganic fillers mixed with plate-type and bulk-type solids(20~150 wt%), hardeners(0.5~5 wt%), and hardening hasteners(0.1~3 wt%). The best chemical and physical properties of these coatings are acquired by variation of adhesive reinforcement agents, dispersants, leveling agents. Mixing ratios of plate-type and bulk-type inorganic fillers influence the thermal properties, abrasive resistance and chemical infiltration properties of coatings. The mixing control is also very important to have homogeneous surface and removing inner voids of coatings.
This study presented simple and efficient fabrication of chemical sensors for the detection of acidic gas using 1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane as an indicator because it can be promising materials having property of the rapid color change according to the variation of pH. The dissociation of proton and dye in acidic condition as changing of ion pairs give rise to dramatically change the absorbance intensity of 1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane, which can be easily applied to the development of chemical sensors. In addition, indicator dyes having negatively charge in aqueous phase can be easily fabricated using layer-by-layer (LBL) methods by way of electrostatic interaction. For the proof of concept, we demonstrated the abrupt presentation of skeleton symbol on the chemical sensor, which could be resulted from the reaction of 1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane as background color with acidic gas. Thus, the rapid appearance of symbol will induce user's caution under the emergency condition. The presented chemical gas sensor using 1,3-bisdicyanovinylindane have strong advantages. First, the fabrication process of gas sensor was very simple and low-cost. Secondly, sensors reacted by acidic gas could be reused for several times. Finally, the chemical gas sensor would be environmentally friend, which can be a basic tool for the realization of eco-organic sensor device.

Numerous chemical modifications on activated carbon such as acidic conditioning, thermal treatment and metal impregnation have been investigated to enhance adsorption capacities of micropollutants in water treatment plants. In this study, chemical modification including acidic, alkaline treatment, and iron-impregnation was evaluated for adsorption of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP). For Fe-impregnation, three concentrations of ferric chloride solutions, i.e., 0.2 M, 0.4 M, and 0.8 M, were used and ion-exchange (MIX) of iron and subsequent thermal treatment (MTH) were also applied. Surface properties of the modified carbons were analyzed by active surface area, pore volume, three-dimensional images, and chemical characteristics. The acidic and alkaline treatment changed the pore structures but yielded little improvement of adsorption capacities. As Fe concentrations were increased during impregnation, the active adsorption areas were decreased and the compositional ratios of Fe were increased. Adsorption capacities of modified ACs were evaluated using Langmuir isotherm. The MIX modification was not efficient to enhance 2,4-DCP adsorption and the MES treatment showed increases in adsorption capacities of 2,4-DCP, compared to the original activated carbon. These results implied a possibility of chemical impregnation modification for improvement of adsorption of 2,4-DCP, if a proper modification procedure is sought.
