  • Accounting education research addresses a wide range of topics related to students, educational processes, educational outcomes, faculty, administrative structures, and the programs and constituents of accounting education. This study examines accounting education researches for the purpose of identifying changes in this research literature and opportunities for enhancing its development. The total number of accounting articles published each year has increased. More significant is the increase in the portion of articles based on empirical research and the decrease in the portion of non-empirical articles. And the empirical studies were classified by type of study, by type of statistics used in the study, and by whether the study referred to other accounting or non-accounting literature. These analysis suggests a number of opportunities for the development of future accounting education research: (1) review relevant non-accounting literature, (2) seek empirical tests of fundamental relationships, (3) design multi-institutional and longitudinal tests, (4) provide for aptitude-treatment interactions, and (5) focus on educational outcomes.

  • Accounting is one of the fields greatly affected by the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in general and the digital transformation trend in particular. However, the digital transformation process will also be a weakness if domestic accounting and auditing training activities do not adapt promptly and keep up with the practical requirements of social needs. Job opportunities in the accounting industry will shrink due to increased labor productivity and increasing support technologies, leading to a decrease in the need for traditional accountants. This paper focuses on clarifying the shortcomings and difficulties in accounting training activities by surveying 120 accounting lecturers teaching at domestic universities. Research results show that there are six existing factors and difficulties in accounting training activities due to the digital transformation process, including: facilities, lecturer capacity, training programs, teaching methods. teaching, assessment methods and practice and practice activities. Based on the survey results, we propose recommendations for training activities due to the impact of digital transformation at universities in Vietnam.

Research data was collected from the questionnaire sent to Vietnamese enterprises in 2019, collecting 542 observations from accountants and directors. The data is, then, synthesized by excel file, conformity check, and processed by SPSS 20 software with descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results showed four factors that affect the intention to apply management accounting in enterprises in Vietnam: (1) Performance expectancy; (2) Effort expectancy; (3) Perceived trust; and (4) Subjective norms. The study pointed out that the above factors explain 60.618% of the variation of "intention to apply management accounting", in which, Subjective norms has the strongest impact (regression coefficient is 0.238). The findings also show that raising the awareness of managers and accountants about the role of management accounting, improving the qualifications and knowledge of accountants, and increasing the trust of managers about management accounting information are needed to increase the level of management accounting application in Vietnamese enterprises. The study also proposes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of management accounting for managers in operation and decision-making.

  • Purpose Social interest in financial statement notes has recently increased. However, contrary to the keen interest in financial statement notes, there is no morphological analyzer for accounting terms, which is why researchers are having considerable difficulty in carrying out research. In this study, we build a morphological analyzer for accounting related text mining techniques. Design/methodology/approach In this study, we build customized korean morphological analyzer to extract proper accounting terms. First, we collect Company's Financial Statement notes, financial information data published by KPFIS(Korea Public Finance Information Service), K-IFRS accounting terms data. Second, we cleaning and tokeninzing and removing stopwords. Third, we customize morphological analyzer using n-gram methodology. Findings Existing morphological analyzer cannot extract accounting terms because it split accounting terms to many nouns. In this study, the new customized morphological analyzer can detect more appropriate accounting terms comparing to the existing morphological analyzer. We found that accounting words that were not detected by existing morphological analyzers were detected in new customized morphological analyzers.

  • The study investigates the relationship between broad-scope management accounting information usage, market orientation, and the firm performance. This study employs a survey data of 149 top-level and mid-level managers working in Vietnamese tourism enterprises. To analyze research data, we employ SmartPLS 3 software. The analytical process include measurement model evaluation (evaluate the scale's validity and reliability) and structural model evaluation (test research hypotheses). The results reveal that broad-scope management accounting information usage has a positive direct effect on market orientation dimensions (include information generation, information dissemination, and responsiveness). Then, market orientation dimensions also have positive direct effects on the performance of Vietnamese tourism firms, excluding information dissemination. Moreover, this study also reveals that the market orientation dimensions mediate the relationship between broad-scope management accounting information usage and firm performance. The findings of this study suggest that tourism firms should pay more attention to the use of management accounting information in decision-making. With the increasingly fierce competition of the tourism firms today, capturing and meeting the needs of the market is a prerequisite to help firms enhance their competitiveness and improve their performance. To do that, Vietnamese tourism firms need to consider pursuing market orientation and enhancing broad-scope management accounting information usage.
