  • The fuel cell vehicle is a type of hydrogen vehicle which uses a fuel cell to produce electricity, powering its on-board electric motor. The fuel cell vehicle driving principle is completely different from the internal combustion engine vehicle. In order to ensure the durable quality of the fuel cell vehicle, durability test mode considering the characteristics of the fuel cell must be developed. In this study, we derived the durability test mode profile through collecting and analyzing fuel cell vehicle driving data. Then, the accelerated durability test mode is developed by adding degradation conditions and is experimentally validated to have an acceleration factor of 5~6.

  • This paper presents the durability characteristics of commercially available CFRP rebars under various environmental conditions. Two types of GFRP rebars were tested by using an accelerated aging method. A total of 264 rebar specimens were conditioned up to 132 days in the moisture, chloride. alkaline, and freeze-thaw environmental conditions. The durability characteristics of conditioned rebars were obtained by comparing the tensile strength, horizontal shear strength, and elastic modulus between the unconditioned and conditioned GFRP rebars. The test results indicated that the mechanical properties of GFRP were significantly reduced after conditioning. Long-term degradation of GFRP rebars was also estimated using the results of a short-term durability test.

  • In general, pipelines at nuclear power plants are affected by various types of degradation mechanisms and may be ruptured after gradually thinning. FAC (Flow-Accelerated Corrosion) is typical aging mechanism affecting the secondary side piping system. In Korea nuclear power plants, CHECWORKS program have been used for management of wall thinning damages. However, sometimes, CHECWORKS program shows wrong results at the stage of NFA (Network Flow Analysis) in case of complex pipelines. This paper describes the calculation results of pressure drop in a complex pipeline and single line by using the CHECWORKS program and the analysis results are compared with those of engineering calculation results including errors between them.

  • This paper presents a derating design approach for reliability improvement of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. The capacitor, usually mounted in a printed circuit board, is used to stabilize the circuit. The main failure mechanism of interest is dry-up of the electrolyte that is mainly caused by two stresses-temperature and voltage. The lifetime under these stresses is modeled as a function of these stresses and time using accelerated life testing. Quantitative variation in the lifetime, according to variations in these stresses, is investigated to perform the derating design of the capacitor so that the stress levels are selected to achieve required reliability measures for reliability improvement. Moreover, sensitivity analysis shows which stress would be a more important factor determining the lifetime.

  • Contamination of subsurface results in degradation of geomaterials (i.e., soils and rock mass), in the long run. This is mainly due to the presence of chemical and/or radiological materials in undesirable concentrations and at elevated temperatures. However, as contaminant-geomaterial interaction is an extremely slow and complex process, which primarily depends on their physical, chemical and mineralogical properties, it is quite difficult to study this interaction under laboratory or in situ conditions. In such a situation, accelerated physical modeling, using a geotechnical centrifuge, and finite element/difference based numerical modeling techniques are found to be quite useful. This paper presents details of various modeling techniques developed by the researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, for studying heat migration, flow and interaction (fate) of reactive and non-reactive contaminants in the geoenvironment, under saturated and unsaturated conditions. In addition, paper presents details of the technique that can be employed for determining susceptibility of a material to undergo physico-chemico-mineralogical alterations due to its interaction with contaminants.

  • Local wall thinning and integrity degradation caused by several mechanisms, such as flow accelerated corrosion, cavitation, flashing and/or liquid droplet impingement, is a main concern in secondary steam cycle piping system of nuclear power plants in terms of safety and operability. Thinned pipe management program (TPMP) has being developed and optimized to reduce the possibility of unplanned shutdown and/or power reduction due to pipe failure caused by wall thinning. In this paper, newest technologies, standards and regulations related to the integrity assessment, repair and replacement of thinned pipe component are reviewed. And technical improvement items in TPMP to secure the reliability and effectiveness are also presented.

  • The reliability of multilayer ceramic capacitor with active thin dielectric layer was investigated by highly accelerated life test at various stress condition. The distribution of multilayer ceramic capacitor failure times is plotted as a function of time from Weibull distribution function. According to the test result, voltage acceleration factor is obtained from 2.24 to 2.96. The acceleration by temperature is much higher than other values of active thick dielectric layer. It is clear that median time to failure is affected by the stress voltage for high volumetric efficiency ceramic capacitors with active thin dielectric layer. The degradation under stress of voltage involves electromigration and accumulation of oxygen vacancy at Ni electrode interface of cathode.

  • In order to assess the reliability of engine mount for a vehicles, life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows; i) the main failure mechanism is degradation failure of engine mount rubber by fatigue failure at dynamic load. ii) temperature is a second factor to affect a failure. iii) the life distribution of engine mount module is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the shape parameter is 18.4 and the accelerated life model of that is fitted well to Arrhenius model.

  • Epoxy resin insulator have good electrical properties (high electric strength, high resistivity, low dielectric loss) in addition to high mechanical strength, small dimensions and design versatility. Polymer insulator, however, are subjected to aging processes, caused by the surrounding atmosphere, which may lead to degradation of their properties. This paper describes the results of a important study on the artificial pollution test, Weather-Ometer properties and rotating wheel dip test of high voltage different aging insulators which are the most important factors for outdoor uses. Also, the objects of this paper are to (a)result of insulator under dry(wet) flashover voltage, (b)artificial pollution test of salt spay, (c)Accelerated aging test of Weather-Ometer, (d) wet and dry flashover voltage under rotating wheel dip test.

  • In present measurement of moisture contents is used as one of method for estimating degradation of transformer. Most of people use Karl-Fischer titration method for detection moisture contents but this measurement is inconvenient method because we must analyze transformer oil-paper after dismounting transformer and sampling in field. Therefore we don't directly investigate them in field. In this paper we will introduce Recovery Voltage Method(RVM) that is new method for estimating measurement in field though dismounting facility. For measure of moisture contents using RVM in accordance with accelerated thermal aging we have made experimental test cell and aged at a temperature up to 140$^{\circ}C$ for 300 hours. And we have been measured at intervals of 100 hours using RVM 5462 made in fetter company.
