  • Purpose: This study was to develop an effective evaluation tool for evaluation of hypertension prevention and management program(HPMP) in community health posts (CHPs). Method: Evaluation tool composed from the literature review, the field visiting, and the in-depth interviews with the community health practitioners. Result: The evaluation tool had four domains, each with different maximum points:, hypertension prevention (35), hypertension management (40), environment of the CHPs(10), and evaluation system of the HPMP(15). The first domain was hypertension prevention with sub-domains of health education, and early detection of patients with hypertension. The second domain was hypertension management with sub-domains of management of health records of patients, education and counseling, and treatment and follow-up of patients. The third domain was the environment of the CHPs with subdomains of accessibility of CHPs to residents, accessibility of general health data to the public, and availability of health information to the public by multimedia. The fourth domain was the evaluation system of the HPMP with the subdomains of planning of program, formative evaluation, process evaluation, and summative evaluation. Conclusion: The newly developed evaluation tool will contribute not only to plan and set goals for evaluation of HPMP in CHPs.

  • The emergence of ubiquitous autonomic computing and network environment will change the service architecture information system which will be a new application area in SCM/logistics systems. In this study we surveyed the technical trend map of ubiquitous and its application in SCM/logistics support system design. We described the evolutional model of ubiquitous computing community for SCM/logistics system. It is consisted of three view points; self-growing, autonomic, and context-aware, which will allow the decision makers to be benefited from web and mobile technology and are useful for proactive SCM/logistics support system. Finally, we suggested a cooperative research planning for the development ubiquitous system between the government research center, university, and industry research activities.

  • Purpose: This is develop a critical pathway as an useful alternative to the previous management system in order to restriction of medical resources, high expectation of ordinary people to health and application for DRG. Method: In order to preliminary critical pathway, we analyzed 30 cases of medical records of patients who had lobectomy and pneumonectomy at the Yonsei Medical Center in Seoul. An expert validity test was taken for the preliminary critical pathway, and clinical validity test was also done. After these processes, the final critical pathway was developed. Result: Among 10 cases, one was excluded in this study due to the complication after operation. 7 of total 9 patients were discharged earlier than the expected day, 1 patient was just discharged at the expected day, and 1 patient was discharged 4 days later than the expected day at the 12th day after operation. Conclusion: The critical pathway is developed without difficulty because the posoperative management for patients with lobectomy and pneumonectomy is uncomplicated. Therefore, if it is more researched on the clinical application, then the activity of C.Q.I. will be able to sustain the patient oriented management system.

  • How to efficiently manage assembly blocks at shipyard has been a hot management issue in the shipbuilding Industry, because it has significantly influenced on the productivity of shipbuilding process. This paper introduces the real practice of assembly block operations management in Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and the Ship Assembly Block Operations Optimization (SABOO) project that h3s been launched in HHI as an academy-and-industry collaborative project, aimed to diagnose problems, propose possible solutions, and develop a prototype system in order to search ways of improving the assembly block operations management. Through the field interviews, observations, and benchmarking studies, the SABOO project diagnosed the most rudimental and urgent problem and proposed possible solutions. In addition, the SABOO project developed the prototype system that embodied the visual function of monitoring the shipyard on a real-time and the Interactive block assignment function that utilized the assembly block assignment algorithm developed by the project. As a whole, the SABOO project tested the possibility and gained an insight in extending the functions of block transportation/stockyard management system.

  • Public health system for more prevention-oriented health promotion rather than hospital-based curative service, focusing population rather than individual, and comprehensive health management in the local community strongly needs to be constructed to solve major issues on efficiencies and equity problems which Korean healthcare system is facing nowadays. Public health promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work, and play. Medical care tries to cure those who have diseases, but public health tries not to become ill and not to be injured. Debates on how we build or rebuild public health system, which is contrasted with medical care system, are needed in Korea, focusing how needs for healthy community and right to health are fulfilled. Public health specialists for practising population health at local community level should be systematically recruited, the function of public health centers should be strengthened, and new government organization should be established for place-based health management.
