This study analyzed the correlations between variables like characteristics related to admission, academic achievement, obtainment of a radiological technology license. A majority of participants were from Daegu and academic high schools. Many participants were accepted by general admission selection, and their reason to apply to Daegu Health College was high graduate employment. Their selection for the academic program was made by their parents and themselves. Those who took the same course twice held 35.1%, and those who got an academic warning took 8.5%. The degree of participants' academic achievement showed somewhat low, and they had difficulty in taking their major courses. The average grade for admission was lower in a following selection order: college graduates, general, special, and rural areas. The admission selections and taking science courses in high school showed little significant correlations with obtainment of a radiological technology license. However, the obtainment of the license had significant correlations with retaking the same course, getting an academic warning, and the degree of academic achievement. The results also revealed that the obtainment of the license had little significant correlations with a part-time job experience, having a boy/girlfriend, and student club participation, but it had significant correlations with accommodations and study club participation. In conclusion, it is important to point out that radiological technology graduates' obtainment of a license is closely related with the degree of their academic achievement and their college life.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of web-based simulation and high-fidelity simulation on acute heart disease patient care. Methods: The project used a comparative study design with two simulation-based training modalities. A total of 144 nursing students participated in this study: 76 students in a web-based simulation, and 68 students in a high-fidelity simulation. Participants rated their self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, interest in learning, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Results: The scores for self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and interest in learning including interest in clinical training in the high-fidelity simulation group was higher than in the web-based simulation group. However, there were no significant differences in interest in learning, including interest in nursing knowledge, and in lab training, level of stress, satisfaction with the simulation experience, and level of difficulty of the simulation. Conclusion: A high-fidelity simulation of acute heart disease patient care might be beneficial to developing many more abilities for nursing students than would a web-based simulation. Also, since the web-based simulation improved interest in nursing knowledge, it could be a viable alternative to high-fidelity simulation. Further study is needed to verify the effects of varied levels of simulation-based care with more rigorous outcomes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the role of clinical nursing instructors' lived experience in clinical practicum. Methods: Data were collected from 11 clinical nursing instructors by in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using content analysis of Downe-Wamboldt (1992). Results: Four themes and twelve subthemes were extracted. 1) Recognizing and conducting the roles of clinical nursing instructor: 'Helping and providing support for successful clinical practicum', 'Coordinating clinical activities in daily practice', 'Providing mentoring as an elder in life'; 2) Participating in improving integrative nursing competency: 'Helping to improve cognitive competency', 'Helping to improve functional competency', 'Contributing to form desirable professionalism', 'Helping to deliberate the nature of nursing'; 3) Experiencing difficulties in performing the role of clinical nursing instructor: 'Facing with difficulty from institutional limits', 'Recognizing difficulty from lack of personal knowledge and experience'; 4) Experiencing value of clinical nursing instructor and accomplishing personal growth: 'Making efforts to widen personal knowledge and experience', 'Developing one's own educational competency', 'Making a chance to reflect oneself'. Conclusion: Despite the distinctive features of clinical nursing instructors, little is known of the characteristics. The results of this study could be used as a reference to improve the quality of clinical nursing education.

As the importance of SW education grows, researches are actively being conducted to improve students' thinking skills. We conducted the group III tasks, which are experiencing and challenging in Beaver Challenge 2018, on 55 students of 5th grade in elementary school. Based on the result, we analyzed their average scores and defined whether each test has a correlation with possession of smartphone, computer familiarity, patience, concentration, and academic ability. The result indicated challenging task boosted the average score, the percentage of correct answers, and the percentage of correct answers for each level of difficulty. Moreover, the challenge task scores were higher as they higher computer familiarity, patience and concentration level. However, possession of smartphones and academic ability did not affect the score. Lastly, the scores were affected by different factors in different level of difficulty that patience factor in advanced level, computer familiarity factor in intermediate level, and concentration factor in beginner level. Thus, further researches are necessary to be conducted to expand the scope of the analysis through the diversification of test subject group and expansion of an evaluation area.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct a nomogram for predicting difficulty in peripheral intravenous cannulation (DPIVC) for adult inpatients. Methods: This study conducted a secondary analysis of data from the intravenous cannulation cohort by intravenous specialist nurses at a tertiary hospital in Seoul. Overall, 504 patients were included; of these, 166 (32.9%) patients with failed cannulation in the first intravenous cannulation attempt were included in the case group, while the remaining 338 patients were included in the control group. The nomogram was built with the identified risk factors using a multiple logistic regression analysis. The model performance was analyzed using the Hosmer-Lemeshow test, area under the curve (AUC), and calibration plot. Results: Five factors, including vein diameter, vein visibility, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and chemotherapy, were risk factors of DPIVC. The nomogram showed good discrimination with an AUC of 0.81 (95% confidence interval: 0.80-0.82) by the sample data and 0.79 (95% confidence interval: 0.74-0.84) by bootstrapping validation. The Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test showed a p-value of 0.694, and the calibration curve of the nomogram showed high coherence between the predicted and actual probabilities of DPIVC. Conclusion: This nomogram can be used in clinical practice by nurses to predict DPIVC probability. Future studies are required, including those on factors possibly affecting intravenous cannulation.
The purpose of the research was to find out the difference in students' academic achievement in Technology Education between students with a lecture, those who perform a content-related project after a lecture, and those who carry out a content-related project without a lecture. The results of this study are as follows. First, taking advantage of both a lecture and project-based lesson led to better achievement than using only a project in Technology Education subject of an academic high school in academic achievement in 'knowledge' area. I infer that it is because they reviewed what they had learned in a lecture and the preparation and practice of the project caused them to memorize it. Second, there was not a meaningful difference in academic achievement in 'understanding' area among the group with a lecture, the one with both a lecture and a project, and the one with only a project. However, considering the comparison of averages and the p-value of F-test, I can deduce that the test outcome influences students with a lecture and a project positively in terms of academic achievement. Third, there was not a meaningful difference in the academic achievement in 'adaptation' area among the group with a lecture, the one with a lecture and a project, and the one with a project. I can conclude that those results are because the difficulty level of evaluation was high and they produced a model just by copying textbook contents.
In this study, we look at the effect that the achievement goal of specialized high school students has on academic self-efficacy and the difference in academic self-efficacy depending on achievement goal orientation. The purpose of this research is to help students to efficiently increase their academic self-efficacy, develop research and study life guidance measures to improve negative factors, and select professors and learning methods. To achieve the purpose, survey was conducted with achievement goal orientation measurement tools(26 questions) and academic self-efficacy measurement tools(28 questions) for 745 students of 18 specialized technical high school students in 5 districts. The results of this study are as follows. First, preference to task difficulty and self-controlling efficacy have highly positive correlations with mastery goal orientation and confidence and mastery avoidance goal orientation have highly negative correlations each other. Second, achievement goal orientation form of specialized high school students were divided into 5 forms; 'execution avoidance(34.8%)', 'mastery orientation(20.8%)', 'approach(17%)', 'avoidance competition(14.9%)', and'mastery avoidance(12.5%)'. In preference to task difficulty, 'approach'group showed the highest average point and 'mastery avoidance'showed the lowest average point. The average point of 'approach' group was higher than other groups in confidence, but 'mastery orientation' group showed the highest average point. Through the results of this study, academic self-efficacy makes an effect by a certain direction in accordance with achievement goal orientation and it's necessary to access academic problems differently according to student's goal directivity. Therefore, it's necessary to provide educational method by student type based on explanation about academic self-efficacy of achievement goal orientation of specialized high school students and analysis on achievement goal orientation form.
We conduct a survey on mathematics academic achievement to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade elementary school students at Dong-Gu in Busan in order to provide teachers in elementary schools with basic research data. The survey questionnaire includes home background, private education, the difficulty degree of mathematics textbook, practical usage of computers, group-teaching, teaching methods, preview, review, homework amount, learning attitude, problem solving ability, interest for mathematics, and the relationships of a home room teacher and friends. Based on survey data we perform factor analysis to find major factors affecting mathematics academic achievement. We identify if there are statistically significant differences in responses of survey for gender group and grade group with regard to survey questions belonging to the major factors obtained in factor analysis.
The purpose of this study is to develop an artificial-intelligence STEAM program for real-time interactive online class for elementary science and to analyze its effect on science academic achievement and creative problem-solving ability. The applied unit was 'Life of plant', a 4th grade science subject with high difficulty in teaching and learning mainly by memorization. The theme of the program is 'Creating a doctor of plant artificial intelligence chatbot'. The results of this study were as follows: The program developed in this study had a positive effect on elementary school students' science academic achievement and creative problem-solving ability. Therefore, the artificial intelligence STEAM program for elementary science interactive online class is effective in improving students' scientific academic achievement and creative problem-solving ability, and further research on artificial intelligence STEAM education theory, method, and practice is required.
Purpose : This study compared before and after emergency patient evaluation education of the 1st graders at the department emergency medical technology(EMT) students, and analyzed its effects on patient evaluation ability after education. The aims of this study was to develop effective educational program and to provide basic materials for its educational method. Methods : This study was carried out by 66 first graders attending the department of emergency medical technology(EMT) at a college in G province and data were collected from Apr. 1 to 2, 2009. The questionnaire consisted of knowledge of emergent patient evaluation, academic self-efficacy, and technical performance after emergent patient evaluation education. We analyzed the influence of knowledge and academic self-efficacy on accurate technical performance with SPSS 14.0 version. Results : 1. In knowledge score, it was 9.27 before education and increased to 35.19 after education and that there was statistically significant difference. In academic self-efficacy, task difficulty preference scored 2.73 before education and 3.97 after education, self-control efficacy scored 2.84 before education and 4.05 after education, self-confidence scored 2.45 before education and 4.21 after education. There were statistically significant increases after education. Technical performance scored 0.00 before education, but it scored 18.78 after education and there was statistically significant increase after education. 2. In sex as one of general characteristics, self-confidence which was sub-factor of academic self-efficacy scored higher in male students(4.28) than in female students(4.10). There was statistically significant difference(p < 0.05). 3. Knowledge had positive correlation with self-control efficacy which was the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy(r = 0.249, p < 0.05) and self-confidence which is the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy had the positive correlation with technical performance(r = 0.258, p < 0.05). 4. Self-confidence which was the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy(B = 0.372, p < 0.05) had statistically significant influence on technical performance. ability of self-confidence to explain technical performance(R2) was 11.10%. Conclusion : From the results of this study, it is necessary that EMT students should learn professional first aid, accurate patient evaluation through self-efficacy development.
