Design and Measurement of Dissipative Silencers for Noise Reduction of Large Maritime Gas Turbine Engines (해상용 대형 가스터빈의 소음 저감을 위한 흡음형 소음기의 설계 및 성능 측정)

  • Based on ISO 7235, an experimental setup to measure the acoustic performance of splitter type dissipative silencers are fabricated. The length of each duct, sound source, microphone locations, modal filter, and anechoic termination are considered in the design of this setup. The modal filter is a particularly important factor because it affects the limit of measurement, which is also determined by the amount of flanking transmission of sound generated by the sound source to microphones. The effects of absorptive materials, media which covers the materials, and the number of splitters on the noise reduction of the sample silencers are experimentally investigated. The insertions loss of silencers with media and higher number of splitters increases, especially at higher frequencies.

  • This paper raises issues in testing the absorption coefficients of sound-absorptive samples in the standing wave tube according to the Korean standard of KS F 2814. The code does not consider any effect of air-damping during test. This limitation has been shown to yield much variation of sound absorption coefficients for recent sample tests whose coefficients are less than 10 %. An improved method of calculating the sound absorption coefficients is proposed in this work and its effectiveness in real test is also illustrated. Finally, the guide line for the modification of our national standard code KS F 2814 is suggested for the future.

  • Helmholtz resonator is widely used acoustic instrument which has high absorption characteristics at its resonance frequency. Particularly it maintains good performance even in the low frequency region that is difficult to control by general porous absorptive materials. However, under severely high sound pressure level, the absorption characteristics are changed by increase of resistance due to nonlinear behavior of neck impedance. Because of this nonlinear behavior, it is difficult to obtain the expected absorption performance under high sound pressure environment. Thus, in order to prevent excessive rise of resistance, the resonator with neck having cross section dimension decrease away from the entry of the resonator cavity could be suggested. This paper introduces the experiment method and results about nonlinear characteristics of Helmholtz resonator with tapered neck and proposes the approximate nonlinear impedance model.

  • The contaminatlon of soil and groundwater by leachate from impmperly managed landfills, or by cheiicals and gasoline leaked flu underground storage tanks has buou a serious urldwide environmental problei. Most of those contaminants are adsorptive and absorptive into soul, while they are hardly soluble in water. Thus, the rate of self purification is very slow, causing persistent problems in water use and environmental protection when the contamination is left untreated. Biological remediatlon technologies utilize the ertraordlnary caperbllity of microorganisms In degrading a tilde spectrum of organic compounds. Among them, an in situ bioremediation technology Involves injection of supplementary materials into the subsurfce in order to bring about a significant Increase in the microbial activity. The Increased microbial activity helps remove the pollutants in situ, that is, without digging out contaminants, soil, or water. This paper focused on the features, possibilities, and limitations of the bioremedition technology.

  • For the purpose of finding out the acoustical characteristics of exterior materials in bridge, analytical studies are performed with boundary elements method by using the commercial program SYSNOISE. Before analysis, to figure out material property, it was conducted experiments of absorption coefficient for absorptive material. And prediction of pressure were conducted I GIRDER type (before & after installation of absorption panel ) and BOX GIRDER type (before & after installation of absorption panel) The results show that when the absorption panel is installed, environment around bridge can help reduce traffic noise. It was proved to be the effective noise reduction counter-plan for a traffic noise in the bridges.

  • This paper introduces an experimental study for the noise characteristics and reduction of a ventilating fan system. For the purpose of noise reduction of it, an absorptive duct silencer filled with a glass fiber has been conventionally utilized. However, a glass fiber has some disadvantages like hygiene and secondary pollution problems. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a perforated duct silencer has been applied to the ventilating fan system. For the designing of a perforated duct silencer, the transmission losses for various perforated panel systems are measured and compared with their sound absorption performances.

  • We have made known the study of shape development of interference device for vehicle noise control. It's primary object greatly attenuate the noise due to transport vehicle by small products installed on the noise barrier edge. Also, it is able to improve the insertion loss of a noise barrier without increasing the height of noise barrier. The present time, we set up a newly manufactured products on the noise barrier edge and testify to it's the performance use of an experiment and evaluation for the reduction of railway noise. In this paper the frequency characteristic of interference device of noise barriers with attached newly developed products in terms of shape, absorptive material and split panel, are examined using field test around of railroad.

  • When visual intrusion Is an Important factor, it is desirable to find alternative methods of Improving the insertion loss of a noise barrier without Increasing the height. Therefore, the primary object of the work attenuate the noise due to railway by small interference device installed at noise barrier edge. In this paper the performance of noise barriers with attached interference device, in terms of shape, absorptive material and split panel, we examined using the boundary element approach. Also, the scale models are mounted in an anechoic chamber and the frequency of the sound sources are appropriately scaled to simulate full scale site conditions. Lastly, experimental measurements of the designs are executed for a range of frequencies and receiver positions, and are compared with the results of numerical modeling.

Quality Characteristics of Fresh Pasta Noodles Containing Added Citrus Peel Powder (진피가루를 첨가한 생면 파스타의 품질 특성)

  • The findings of this study into the quality of fresh pasta noodles containing different amounts of the lyophilized citrus peel powder are as follows. The higher the amount of the citrus peel powder in the pasta, the higher was its WRC. The Hunter's values, whether L, a, and b all increased in both cooked and raw noodles. The higher the amount of the citrus peel powder, the less the level of tensions and the lower the setback values. These results suggest that the citrus peel powder might have a controlling effect on retrogradation. As for the characteristics of cooked pasta noodles, the weight decreased; the volume increased; and the moisture absorptive power also increased. The tasters' preferences were in the following order: 3%>0%>5%>7%>1%. In other words, a citrus peel powder content of 3~5% appears to be most appropriate.

The Mediation Effect of Knowledge Transfer on IT Project Performance (IT 프로젝트 성과에 대한 지식이전의 매개효과에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, knowledge transfer has been recognized as one of the major factors for success of IT projects but little investigated in Information Systems research. IT project, which needs collaboration between organization's IT project team and external partner, is an critical source for a firm to acquire external knowledge and to achieve its competitive advantage. Based on this recognition on knowledge transfer under IT project, we investigate a mediation role of knowledge transfer to IT project performance after identifying its antecedents such as project team capabilities and partner capabilities. The research model is tested by analyzing 161 sample data gathered from firms' employees who have participated IT projects within last two years. The results reveal that knowledge transfer has full-mediation effect between its antecedents and IT project performance. Moreover, project team capabilities have more impacts on knowledge transfer than partner capabilities do.
