Abrasive wear between piston ring face and cylinder liner is an extremely unpredictable and hard-to-reproduce phenomenon that significantly decreases engine performance. Wear by abrasion are forms of wear caused by contact between a particle and solid material. Abrasive wear is the loss of material by the passage of hard particles over a surface. From the pin-on-disk test, particle dent test and scuffing test, abrasive wear characteristics of diesel engine cylinder liner-piston ring have been investigated. Pin-on-disk test results indicate that abrasive wear resistance is not simply related to the hardness of materials, but is influenced also by the microstructure, temperature, lubricity and micro- fracture properties. In particle dent test, dent resistance stress decreases with increasing temperature. From the scuffing test by using pin-on-disk tester, scuffing mechanisms for the soft coating and hard coating were proposed and experimentally confirmed.

There are some cases which require to grasp the abrasion resistance property in the fields of the high-technology to be required the high specific strength and modulus. In this study, wear test with the various test temperature and velocity were performed in the SiCw/A16061 composite and A16061 matrix using the wear test machine of the ring-on-disc type. As the results, the friction and wear properties by various test temperature and velocity were examined. The worn surface has observed by scanning electron microscope in order to examine the wear mechanism.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the resin infiltration into dentin of one-bottle adhesive systems and self-etching primer bonded to Class V cavities using confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM). Material and Methods : Forty Class V cavities were prepared from freshly extracted caries-free Human teeth. These teeth were divided into two groups based on the presence of cervical abrasion: Group I, cervical abrasion : Group II, wedge-shaped cavity preparation. Resin-dentin interfaces were produced with two one-bottle dentin bonding systems-ONE COAT BOND(OCB; Coltene$^R$) and Syntac$^R$SPrint$^{TM}$(SS; VIVADENT)-, one self-etching priming system-CLEARFIL$^{TM}$ SE BOND (SB : KURARAY)- and one multi-step dentin bonding system-Scotchbond$^{TM}$Multi-Purpose (SBMP, 3M Dental Products)-as control according to manufacturers' instructions. Cavities were restored with Spectrum$^{R}$(Dentsply). Specimens were immersed in saline for 24 hours and sectioned longitudinally with a low-speed diamond disc. The resin-dentin interfaces were microscopically observed using CLSM. The quality of resin-infiltrated dentin layers were evaluated by five dentists using 0~4 scale. Results : Confocal laser scanning microscopal investigations using primer labeled with rhodamine B showed that the penetration of the primer occurred along the cavity margins. Statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA followed by Duncan's Multiple Range test revealed that the primer penetration of the group 2(wedge-shaped cavity preparation) was more effective than group 1(cervical abrasion) and that of the gingival interfaces was more effective than the occlusal interfaces. In the one-bottle dentin bonding systems, the resin penetration score of OCB was compatible to SBMP, but those of SS and self-etching priming system, SB were lower than SBMP.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the effect of three different surface treatments on the shear bond strength of lithium disilicate ceramics to enamel. Methods: Totally 60 lithium disilicate ceramic disc specimens were fabricated with IPS e.max press (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) and Mazic Claro (Vericom, Korea). 30 specimens in each lithium disilicate ceramic were assigned to 3 groups of the each following surface treatment: 1) $50{\mu}m$ airborne particle abrasion+silane, 2) 9.5% hydroflouric acid etching (HF)+silane, 3) $50{\mu}m$ airborne particle abrasion+9.5% HF+silane. Lithium disilicate ceramic surfaces after surface treatments were AFM examined. The shear bond strength was measured in a universal testing machine at 0.5mm/min crosshead speed. All data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test(${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: The mean surface roughness of lithium disilicate ceramics ranged from $0.178{\mu}m$ to $0.441{\mu}m$. The mean shear bond strengths ranged from $23.81{\pm}2.78MPa$ to $33.99{\pm}4.85MPa$. Conclusion: 1. Mazic Claro showed higher shear bond strength than IPS e.max press at 3 different surface treatments, and no statistically significant was observed. 2. The shear bond strength of IPS e.max press was strongly enhanced as surface treated with $50{\mu}m$ airborne particle abrasion and 9.5% hydroflouric acid etching. And there was no statistical significance at the shear bond strength of Mazic Claro with surface treatments.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of various zirconia surface treatment methods on shear bond strength with resin cements. Methods: We prepared 120 cylindrical zirconia specimens (⌀10 mm×10 mm) using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM). Each specimen was randomly subjected to one of four surface treatment conditions: (1) no treatment (control), (2) airborne-particle abrasion with 50 ㎛ of Al2O3 (A50), (3) airborne-particle abrasion with 125 ㎛ of Al2O3 (A125), and (4) ZrO2 slurry (ZA). Using a polytetrafluoroethylene mold (⌀6 mm×3 mm), we applied three resin cements (Panavia F 2.0, Super-Bond C&B, and Variolink N) to each specimen. The shear bond strength tests were performed in a universal testing machine. The surfaces of representative specimens of each group were evaluated under scanning electron microscope. We used one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), two-way ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey honest significant difference test to analyze the data. Results: In the surface treatment method, the A50 group showed the highest bond strength, followed by A125, ZA, and control groups; however, no significant difference was observed between A50 and A125, A125 and ZA, and ZA and control (p>0.05). Among the resin cements, Super-Bond C&B showed the highest shear bond strength, followed by Panavia F 2.0 and Variolink N (p<0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, application of airborne-particle abrasion and ZrO2 slurry improved the shear bond strength of resin cement on zirconia.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the natural dyeability of silk on extract of Artemisia princeps, The experimental items were divided into the mordanting method. comonent of fabric, kind of mordant. The experimental study was done by laundering fastness, abrasion(dry/wet) fastness, perspiration(acid/alkali) fastness, light fastness test and color difference by C.C.M system. The summarized finding resulted from experiments and investigation are suggested as follows; First, in the C. C. M test on mordanting methods, color difference was significantly improved when mordants were treatmented. And the premordanting method showed the highest color difference, color was most yellow-greenish, Second, in the C.C.M test on component of fabrics, color difference of silk was higher than cotton. It is considered that silk has -$NH_2$
, -COOH, -OH than more than cotton. Third, in dyeing-fastness on mordants, laundering fastness showed that color-change was 2~3 grade, the contamination on attached fabric was 4~5 grade. perspiration fastness(acid/alkali) showed 4~5 grade nearly and those of acid was higher than alkali. abrasion fastness(dry/wet) was 4~5 grade and in Fe(3~4 grade) was lower than the other mordants. Forth, in color difference analysis on mordants, Fe(50.0) showed the highest and the order of color difference was alum(16.0), Cu(7.2), Sn(3.5), Al(3.1), Cr(2.3), The Hue was turned into yellow-greenish in alum mordant treatment, the luminocity of color was most dark in Fe(-48.9) and Cu(-7.2), chroma was the highest in alum (15.7) method.
Test results to evaluate the rr~echanical properties of epoxy-coated reinforcing bars are described. Tests include adhesion, impact, bend, and abrasion test of epoxy coating to reinforcing steel, specified in relevant KS and ASTM standards. Three nomnal thicknesses of epoxy coating, $120{\mu}m$, $220{\mu}m$, $300{\mu}m$ are used. The results show good adhesion and abrasion resistance satisfying the requirements. The
results also show faily good bendability. However, the thicker the coating, the weaker the adhesion is. Impact resistance is in the tolerable range, but it is recorrmerided that careful treatments are required during handling of epoxy-coated bars. From the results, epoxy-coated bars, with a coating thickness ranging from $150{\mu}m$ to $300{\mu}m$, should well perform for fabrication in field construction.

PURPOSES : This study is to suggest time to spray curing compound, the amount of curing compound, and the number of times to spray curing compound based on indoor tests. METHODS : Based on the literature review, two methods are used in this study, One is test for water retention of concrete curing material and the other is test for abrasion resistance of concrete surfaces by the rotating-cutter method. Through those methods, curing compound was evaluated. RESULTS : The result of the laboratory experiment for time to spray curing compound indicates that 30 minutes after placing concrete is optimal. For the amount of curing compound, $0.5{\ell}/m^2$ is the minimum quantity for both concretes. Through test of the number of times to spray curing compound, method to spray the whole amount of curing compound in twice is more efficient than it to spray the whole amount at a time. Also, method of separately 30-50 minutes spray is better than method of separately 10-30 minutes spray. CONCLUSIONS : From the testing results, it can be proposed that optimum time to curing compound is $30{\pm}15$ minutes, $0.5{\ell}/m^2$ is efficient for spraying the whole amount of curing compound at a time, and $0.4{\ell}/m^2$ is the best for spraying the whole amount of curing compound in twice, which sprays it in 20 minutes after 30 minutes from placing concrete.
This studies has been carried out how to effect on electrostafic propensity of synthetic fabrics by coating with 0.5% acrylic polymer solution which was previously developed by the author to improve anticrease nature of silk. The work conditions are: (A) Applied synthetic polymer was acrylic polymer 525, developed by the author. (B) Electrostatic voltage for various fabrics were carried out by Korea standard abrasion partner with Korea standard (KS K 0905) cotton, nylon, polyester and the self sample fabric. (C) Applied fabrics for the investigations were carried out by using abrasion partner with Korea standard (KS K 0905) cotton, nylon, polyester and the self sample fabric. (D) Electrostatic propensity investigations were carried out by use of sample as silk, nylon, polyester and acrylic fabrics, seperating before finish or after finish. (E) Washing after the finish or the original fabric was carried out by Korea standard method, KS K 0465. Through the investigations, he happened to find many interesting matters and the obtained results are as followings. 1. Electrostatic voltage for the finished fabrics increased more than their original silk, nylon, acrylic fabrics except polyester fabric. (See Table 5) 2. Electrostatic voltage for the finished polyester against K.S. polyester decreased remarkably than the original fabric test. 3. In spite of no problem on electrostatic propensity of silk, it showed high electrostatic voltage between the same nature fabric abrasion, because silk is very weak against abrasion and because the test method had been developed to be useful for only synthetic fabrics. 4. Electrostatic voltage increased more in case of abrasion between different nature of fabrics than the same nature of fabrics. 5. Electrostatic voltage of each fabric increased by repeat of wash. 6. Many investigation data were followed with Contact Electrification Series Principle, another word, the farther each other located fabric on the series abrasion was, the higher electrostatic voltage. (See Fig. 6) 7. Such investigation gives warning of use on the mix fiber spinning service as far as concern with electrification. 8. It may also call attention for such increase of electrification in case any finishing of silk textile.

In order to replace the jacket material for URD power cables, the 6 kinds of polyethylene compounds were manufactured and evaluated. The characteristics of the compounds were investigated by water vapor transmission (WVT) test, thermal and mechanical test. In WVT test, all the polyethylene compounds showed the superior water resistance to conventional PVC. The molecular structure and density of polyethylene play an important role in WVT. Also, the polyethylene compounds showed the suitable characteristics in thermal and mechanical test. Especially, the linear polyethylene compounds showed the superior characteristics to LDPE ones. Due to the fillers in compounds, the abrasion resistance was decreased and the cut-through resistance was increased. From this study, it can be considered that the polyethylene compounds may be suitable to jacket material for URD power cables.
