  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to determine the effect of visual and tactile feedback on muscle activity of the gluteus maximus (Gmax) and abdominal muscles and the motion of pelvic rotation during performance of clam exercise (CE). Methods: Thirteen subjects without low back pain were recruited for this study. Each subject was instructed to perform the CE without and with feedback. The subjects were instructed to keep pelvic from rotating backwards by palpating the ASIS and monitoring the pelvic movement by themselves during performance of CE with feedback. The electromyographic (EMG) activities of Gmax and abdominal muscles were collected using surface EMG. Angles of pelvic rotation were measured using a 3-dimensional motion-analysis system. Paired t-tests were used for comparison of EMG activities in each muscle and the angle of pelvic rotation. Results: The EMG activities of all abdominal muscles were not significant between CM without and CM with feedback (p>0.05). The EMG activity of Gmax was significantly greater in CM with feedback compared with CM without feedback (without vs. with feedback; 14.2% vs. 20.7%MVIC) (p<0.05). The angle of pelvic rotation was significantly less in CM with feedback compared with CM without feedback (without vs. with feedback; $15.3^{\circ}$ vs. $10.8^{\circ}$ ) (p<0.05). Conclusion: Therefore, these findings suggest that CM with the visual and tactile feedback is effective in activation of the Gmax and correcting of the uncontrolled lumbopelvic rotation during CE.

  • This study aims to provide a scientific basis for the abstract beauty of dance by analyzing the effects of controlling the breath during the walking motion of Korean dance. The objective of the study is to determine the significance of breathing during Korean dance, as it is externally expressed and technologically segmented, let alone the internal beauty of Korean dance. The results of this study show that the position of the body center and ASIS during the walking motion that uses breath was lower than that of the walking motion that does not use the breath. In addition, in each replacement of the knee joint and ankle joint, a narrow angle, in which bending is used a lot, appeared during the walking motion that uses the breath, but not during the walking gesture that does not use the breath. This occurred during the bending motion. In the first peak point, the vertical ground reaction force during the walking motion that uses the breath was higher than that during the walking motion that does not use the breath.

  • Reduction of yam hairiness by nozzles in ring spinning and winding is a new approach. Simulation of the airflow pattern inside the nozzles provides useful information about actual mechanism of hairiness reduction. The swirling air current inside the nozzles is capable of wrapping the protruding hairs around the yam body, thereby reducing yam hairiness. Since production rate of winding is very high and the process itself increases yarn hairiness any method to reduce the hairiness of yarns at this stage is a novel approach. A CFD (computational fluid dynamics) model has been developed to simulate the airflow pattern inside the nozzles using Fluent 6.1 software. In this study, both S- and Z-type nozzles having an axial angle of 500 and diameter of 2.2 mm were used for simulation studies. To create a swirling effect, four air holes of 0.4 mm diameter are made tangential to the inner walls of the nozzles. S- and Z-twisted yams of 30 tex were spun with and without nozzles and were tested for hairiness, tensile and evenness properties. The total number of hairs equal to or exceeding 3 mm (i.e. the S3 values) for yam spun with nozzle is nearly 49-51 % less than that of ring yams in case of nozzle-ring spinning, and 15 % less in case of nozzle-winding, while both the yarn types show little difference in evenness and tensile properties. Upward airflow gives best results in terms of hairiness reduction for nozzle-ring and nozzle wound yams compared to ring yarns. Yarn passing through the centre of the nozzle shows maximum reduction in S3 values.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to offer a new approach to diagnostic X-ray in perspective of Chuna manual medicine for clinical application. Methods : Characteristics of each malposition in X-ray were analyzed comprehensively, based on the listing system. By verifying these results, find out the methods of X-ray diagnosis according to the each malposition. Results : 1. Vertebral malposition can be explained by alignment and relative position of vertebral body in the X-ray. To obtain more accurate estimation of subluxation, features of other structures should be considered, such as spinous process, intervertebral foramen and disc space. 2. Pelvic malposition can be determined by relative location of anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) and posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS) in the X-ray. Also other pelvic parameters should be utilized to make a diagnosis of sacral malposition. Conclusions : Diagnostic X-ray should be applied to many clinicians for reasonable Chuna manual medicine application. And further studies are needed to use the diagnostic X-ray in the perspective of Chuna manual medicine.

  • The nation's fraternity and elite players who have built up a global bicycle infrastructure often find it to be a problem with the bicycle's speed and speed reduction, pain in knees and hip joints, or even with the bike itself, or with the bike's own physical defects or a riding posture. However, we found that most cases of cleat adjustment errors were likely to be true. Accurate adjustment of the cleats is the most important of the entire fitting process and can be the basis for improving the ability of the bicycle rider and preventing injury. Therefore, the study was intended to give a prior study of bicycle fitting, which can improve bicycle efficiency and prevent injury when riding bicycle, and specific ways of adjusting bicycle shoe cleats, and the following results were obtained. First, the cleat characteristics of Shimano, LOOK and Speedplay, which are currently used in public, and the characteristics during the cleat adjustment process, were derived. In addition, the structure and characteristics of dedicated shoes using cleats and the method of using pedalling by the structure of shoes after adjusting the cleats were derived. Second, the position of the shoe and its relationship with torque in pedalling was discussed, and the method of adjusting front and back of cleats was derived. Third, leg length, ASIS, Q-Angle and Q-factor etc. were analyzed and the method of setting and adjusting cleat left and right values were derived. Fourth, the relationship between walking angle and cleat rotation was analyzed, the method was derived, and the torque size and angle behind the cleat adjustment were compared and analyzed using the spinner to indicate the torque and the effective mean torque angle after the cleat adjustment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of pelvic traction and muscle energy technique(MET) for hemiplegic patients on static standing balance. The scale for static standing balance is measured by using mean balance(%), frequence(Hz), sway area($mm^2$), sway path(mm), max sway velocity(mm/s), ant/post sway angle($^{\circ}$), lateral sway angle($^{\circ}$), sway number, change of pelvic height is measured in relation to the height of ASIS and PSIS. The subjects of this study were thirty hemiplegic patients: 15men and 15 women, with an average ages of 50.80 years. The thirty subjects were divided into 3 group of 10 at random ; ten subjects had pelvic traction after bobath therapy (the pelvic traction group), ten subjects had muscle energy technique after bobath therapy (the MET group), and ten subjects had only bobath therapy (the control group). Static standing balance was measured using BPM (balance performance monitor; data print software version 5.3), pelvic height was measured using height measuring with an adjustable horizontal arm. In order to assure the statistical significant of the result, an one-way ANOVA, the paired t-test, and a person's correlation were applied at the.05 level of significance. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The change in pelvic height were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 2) The change in affected and non-affected on weight bearing were not statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p>.05). 3) The change in frequency were statistically significant between the MET group, the control group and the pelvic traction group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 4) The change in sway area were statistically significant between the MET group, the control group and the pelvic traction group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 5) The change in sway pa1h were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 6) The change in max sway velocity were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 7) The change in ant/post sway angle were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 8) The change in lateral sway angle were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). 9) The change in sway number were statistically significant between the pelvic traction group, the MET group and the control group on pre-treatment and post-treatment(p<.05). In conclusion, there was a difference between the experimental group and the control group. In the future, we have to study continuously about pelvic traction and muscle energy technique in hemiplegic patients.
