This paper discusses the design of a ground clutter prevention fence for a radar wind profiler (RWP). The design point of the clutter fence is to improve the quality of the received signal by removing the non-weather clutter coming from the side. In this paper, a clutter prevention fence composed of a metallash mesh around the RWP is proposed, and the phase center of the antenna, the length, and height of the down fence, and the height and slop of the top fence through M&S are designed. The designed ground clutter prevention fence and 256 active phase array antennas were used as basic data. The effectiveness of the design was confirmed by a simulation. The side lobe in the ±90° direction was reduced by more than 30dB depending on the presence or absence of the designed ground clutter prevention fence. The fence was manufactured by 3D modeling, and the clutter shielding performance of approximately 20dB or more on the side of the antenna (±90°) was confirmed by applying it to the currently operated RWP.

This study presents a comprehensive study on the synthesis and characterization of PVI-PGMA/LiTFSI polymeric membrane electrolytes and CxNy-C flexible electrodes for energy storage applications. The dual-functional PVI-PGMA copolymer exhibited excellent ionic conductivity, with the PVI-PGMA73/LiTFSI200 membrane electrolyte achieving the highest conductivity of 1.0 × 10-3 S cm-1. The electrochemical performance of the CxNy-C electrodes was systematically investigated, with C3N2-C demonstrating superior performance, achieving the highest specific capacitance of 958 F g-1 and lowest charge transfer resistance (Rct) due to its highly interconnected hybrid structure comprising nanowires and polyhedrons, along with binary Co/Ni oxides, which provided abundant redox-active sites and facilitated ion diffusion. The presence of a graphitic carbon shell further contributed to the enhanced electrochemical stability during charge-discharge cycles. These results highlight the potential of PVI-PGMA/LiTFSI polymeric membrane electrolytes and CxNy-C electrodes for advanced energy storage devices, such as supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries, paving the way for further advancements in sustainable and high-performance energy storage technologies.
The amount of hydrogen adsorbed in arrays of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) was studied as a function of nanotube diameter and distance between the nearest-neighbor nanotubes on square arrangements using a grand canonical Monte Carlo simulation. The influence of the geometry of a triangle array with the same diameters and distances was also studied. Hydrogen-carbon and hydrogen-hydrogen interactions were modeled with Lennard-Jones potentials for short range interactions and electrostatic interactions were added for hydrogen-hydrogen pairs to consider quantum contributions at low temperatures. At 194.5 K, Type I isotherms for large-diameter SWNTs and Type IV isotherms without hysteresis between adsorption and desorption processes for wider tube separations were observed. At 200 bars, the gravimetric hydrogen storage capacity of the SWNTs was reached or exceeded the US Department of Energy (DOE) target, but the volumetric capacity was about 70% of the DOE target. At 77 K, a two-step adsorption was observed, corresponding to a monolayer formation step followed by a condensation step. Hydrogen was adsorbed first to the inner surface of the nanotubes, then to the outer surface, intratubular space and the interstitial channels between the nanotube bundles. The simulation indicated that SWNTs of various diameters and distances in a wide range of configurations exceeded the DOE gravimetric and volumetric targets at under 1 bar.

In the past decade, numerous studies have been carried out to quantify aging with the help of artificial intelligence. Using DNA methylation data, various models have been developed; these are commonly called epigenetic clocks. Epigenetic age acceleration is usually associated with disease conditions. Schizophrenia is a mental illness associated with severe mental and physical stress. This disease leads to high mortality and morbidity rates in young people compared with other psychological disorders. In the past, the research community considered this disease to be related to the accelerated aging hypothesis. In the current study, we wanted to investigate the epigenetic age acceleration changes in schizophrenia patients to obtain epigenetic insights into the disease. To measure the epigenetic age acceleration, we used two different DNA methylation clock models, namely, Horvath clock and Epi clock, as these are pan-tissue models. We utilized 450k array data compatible with both clocks. We found a slower epigenetic acceleration in the patients' samples when we used the Epi clock. We further analyzed the differentially methylated CpG sites between the control and cases and performed pathway enrichment analysis. We found that most of the CpGs are involved in neuronal processes.
In order to achieve excellent spatial resolution, very small scintillation pixels are used in detectors of positron emission tomography for small animals. However, by using these very small scintillation pixels, scintillation pixels at the edge of the array may overlap in a flood image. To solve this problem, a light guide capable of changing the distribution of light was used. Depending on the material of the light guide, the light spreading tendency is different, and accordingly, the presence or absence of overlapping is different depending on the material of the light guide used. In this study, instead of the conventional glass light guide, a detector using the same material as the scintillation pixel was designed. A scintillator light guide has a higher refractive index than a glass light guide, so the light spread is different. Flood images were acquired to evaluate the degree of separation of the scintillation pixels at the edge of the detector using the two light guides. The degree of separation was evaluated by calculating the distance between the center and the spatial resolution of the image of two scintillation pixels at the edge of the obtained flood image. As a result, when the scintillator light guide was used, better spatial resolution was shown, and the distance between centers of scintillation pixels was wider. When a detector is constructed using a scintillator light guide instead of a conventional glass light guide, it is possible to use a smaller scintillation pixel, thereby securing better spatial resolution.

As a basic measurement tool in the areas of animal models of human disease, gene expression and therapy, and drug discovery and development, small animal PET imaging is being used increasingly. An ideal small animal PET should have high sensitivity and high and uniform resolution across the field of view to achieve high image quality. However, the combination of long narrow pixellated crystal array and small ring diameter of small animal PET leads to the degradation of spatial resolution for the source located at off center. This degradation of resolution can be improved by determining the depth of interaction (DOI) in the crystal and by taking into account the information in sorting the coincident events. Among a number of 001 identification schemes, dual layer phsowich detector has been widely investigated by many research groups due to its practicability and effectiveness on extracting DOI information. However, the effects of each crystal length composing dual layer phoswich detector on DOI measurements and image qualities were not fully characterized. In order to minimize the DOI effect, the length of each layer of phoswich detector should be optimized. The aim of this study was to perform simulations using a simulation tool, GATE to design the optimum lengths of crystals composing a dual layer phoswich detector. The simulated small PET system employed LSO front layer LuYAP back layer phoswich detector modules and the module consisted of 8${\times}$8 arrays of dual layer crystals with 2 mm ${\times}$ 2 mm sensitive area coupled to a Hamamatsu R7600 00 M64 PSPMT. Sensitivities and variation of radial resolutions were simulated by varying the length of LSO front layer from 0 to 10 mm while the total length (LSO + LuYAP) was fixed to 20 mm for 10 cm diameter ring scanner. The radial resolution uniformity was markedly improved by using DOI information. There existed the optimal lengths of crystal layers to minimize the variation of radial resolutions. In 10 cm ring scanner configuration, the radial resolution was kept below 3.4 mm over 8 cm FOV while the sensitivity was higher than 7.4% for LSO 5 mm : LuYAP 15 mm phoswich detector. In this study, the optimal length of dual layer phoswich detector was derived to achieve high and uniform radial resolution.
Conventional active surface wave measurements performed using a transient or continuous source are often limited in the maximum depth of penetration due to the difficulty of generating low-frequency energy with reasonably portable sources. This limitation may inhibit accurate seismic site response calculations because of the inability to define deeper subsurface structure. By measuring surface wave generated by passive sources including microtremors and cultural noise, it is possible to overcome this problem and develop soil stiffness profiles to much larger depth. Reliability of dispersion estimates from the passive surface wave measurements is critical to present reliable shear wave velocity profiles and can be improved by the measurements and analyses of passive surface waves based on correct understanding of systematic errors included in passive dispersion data. In this study, the systematic errors caused by poor wavenumber resolution and energy leakage into sidelobes in passive tests are mainly explored. Recommendations for reliable passive surface wave measurements and dispersion estimates are presented and illustrated at a site in San Jose, California, U.S.

The conventional spot-type UV curing machine configures a collimator optical system using a plurality of lenses so that the light beam is incident through an optical cable. In order to increase the transmission light efficiency, a collimator optical system composed of three or more lenses is required, and accordingly, it is difficult to align the optical system, and it is difficult to implement the system compactly. In this study, a single TIR lens collimator that can realize the same level of spot diameter and light efficiency as the conventional collimator optical system composed of three lenses was designed. Through this, the light efficiency at the curing area with the minimum illuminance deviation was 33.2 %, which was similar to the performance of the reference collimator optical system, and the illuminance deviation on the curing area was 18.8 %, ensuring acceptable performance. In addition, by arranging a fly-eye lens with field flattening function at the front end of the condensing lens, the effective curing area diameter was reduced from 5.0 mm to 3.0 mm, enabling higher curing energy density to be realized. In addition, it was confirmed that the illuminance deviation can be greatly improved to a level of 14.4%.

The concept of Internet of Things (IoT) has been increasingly popular these days, and its areas of application have been broadened. However, if the data stored in an IoT system is damaged and cannot be recovered, our society would suffer considerable damages and chaos. Thus far, most of the studies on fault-tolerance have been focused on computer systems, and there has not been much research on fault-tolerance for IoT systems. In this study, therefore, a fault-tolerance method in IoT environments is proposed. In other words, based on the EVENODD method, one of the traditional fault-tolerance methods, a fault-tolerance storage and recovery method for the data stored in the IoT server is proposed, and the method is implemented on an oneM2M IoT system. The fault-tolerance method proposed in this paper consists of two phases - fault-tolerant data storage and recovery. In the fault-tolerant data storage phase, some F-T gateways are designated and fault-tolerant data are distributed in the F-T gateways' storage using the EVENODD method. In the fault-tolerant recovery phase, the IoT server initiates the recovery procedure after it receives fault-tolerant data from non-faulty F-T gateways. In other words, an EVENODD array is reconstructed and received data are merged to obtain the original data.
The Korean VLBI Network (KVN) consists of three 21m radio telescopes installed in Seoul, Ulsan, and Jeju Island with the world's first 4-channel receiver that can observe four different frequencies (e.g., 22, 43, 86, 129 GHz) simultaneously. This receiving system of KVN is particularly effective in millimeter-wavelength VLBI (mm-VLBI) observations by compensating fast atmospheric fluctuations effectively. This technology is now being enhanced with a compact triple-band receiver, becoming the world standard for a mm-VLBI system. In 2020, KVN supported 54 observing programs (KVN: 28, EAVN: 26) including the 2nd KVN Key Science Program (KSP) which supports 8Gbps data recording rate and the East Asian VLBI Network (EAVN) programs. KVN also participated in the European VLBI Network (EVN) and GMVA (Global Millimeter VLBI Array) sessions regularly. Here, we report current status and future propsects of KVN.
