  • The nuclear power plant was launched by Kori unit 1 in 1978 years. Currently, 23 nuclear power plants have been operating in Korea since 1978 years. The localization was completed for most of the reactor facility from Hanbit(Youngkwang) unit 3&4. However, RCP(Reactor Coolant Pump) and MMIS(Man Machine Interface System) is an important technology that has been excluded from the scope of the technical transfer has been dependent on a specific overseas vendor. Recent success in RCP development through co-operation with government and industries. Developed RCP will be applied to Shin-Hanul unit 1&2 nuclear power plants. The RCP operates in high speed and high pressure condition and only rotating component in the NSSS(Nuclear Steam Supply System). Therefore, the problem of vibration has arisen caused by the hydraulic forces of the working fluid. These forces can influence on the stability characteristics for entire RCS(Reactor Coolant System) loop, and can act as significant destabilizing forces. In this study, vibration evaluation of the pump shaft of development RCP estimated under normal operation and over speed conditions. In order to predict the vibration characteristics and dynamic behavior, modal analysis, critical speed analysis and unbalance response spectrum analysis were performed.

  • 본 논문은 차세대 원전 신고리 #3, 4호기 NSSS(Nuclear Steam Supply System) 제어계통의 검증시스템을 개발하기 위한 설계개념에 관한 것이다. 차세대 원전 신고리 #3, 4호기는 KHNP(Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.)가 개발한 APR1400(Advanced Power Reactor 1400 [MWe])을 적용하는 최초의 원자력 발전소이다. APR1400은 3세대 원자력발전소로 인정받고 있으며, APR1400 원자력발전소의 안전한 운영을 위하여 I&C(Instrumentation and Control)시스템이 디지털 표준 플랫폼으로 설계되었다[2]. 특히, 차세대 원전 신고리 #3, 4호기의 비안전계통(제어 감시 및 경보계통)은 WEC (Westinghouse Electric Company)의 DCS(Distributed Control System) 상용 단일 플랫폼으로 구성될 예정이다. 우리는 신고리 #3, 4호기의 제어계통 중에서 NSSS(Nuclear Steam Supply System) 제어계통의 검증시스템을 개발하기 위하여 Stimulated Simulator의 방법론을 적용하여 "Simulator"라는 설계 개념을 정립하였다. 현재 원자력발전소 NSSS 제어계통의 DCS Stimulator 개발을 위하여 차세대 원전 신고리 #3, 4호기에 시설될 WEC의 DCS와 Simulation 서버 그리고 I/O 설비를 구축 중에 있으며, 원자력발전소 현장 기기 모델링 소프트웨어와 I/O 설비간의 인터페이스를 위한 동신 소프트웨어도 개발하고 있다.

Evaluation of APR1400 Steam Generator Tube-to-Tubesheet Contact Area Residual Stresses

  • The Advanced Power Reactor 1400 (APR1400) Steam Generator (SG) uses alloy 690 as a tube material and SA-508 Grade 3 Class 1 as a tubesheet material to form tube-to-tubesheet joint through hydraulic expansion process. In this paper, the residual stresses in the SG tube-to-tubesheet contact area was investigated by applying Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) methodology and the V-model. The use of MBSE transform system description into diagrams which clearly describe the logical interaction between functions hence minimizes the risk of ambiguity. A theoretical and Finite Element Methodology (FEM) was used to assess and compare the residual stresses in the tube-to-tubesheet contact area. Additionally, the axial strength of the tube to tubesheet joint based on the pull-out force against the contact joint force was evaluated and recommended optimum autofrettage pressure to minimize residual stresses in the transition zone given. A single U-tube hole and tubesheet with ligament thickness was taken as a single cylinder and plane strain condition was assumed. An iterative method was used in FEM simulation to find the limit autofrettage pressure at which pull-out force and contact force are of the same magnitude. The joint contact force was estimated to be 20 times more than the pull-out force and the limit autofrettage pressure was estimated to be 141.85MPa.

  • The air-cooled passive decay heat removal system (APDHR) was proposed to provide the ultimate heat sink for non-LOCA accidents. The APDHR is a modified one of Passive Auxiliary Feed-water system (PAFS) installed in APR+. The PAFS has a heat exchanger in the Passive Condensate Cooling Tank (PCCT) and can remove decay heat for 8 h. After that, the heat transfer rate through the PAFS drastically decreases because the heat transfer condition changes from water to air. The APDHR with a vertical heat exchanger in PCCT will be able to remove the decay heat by air if it has sufficient natural convection in PCCT. We conducted the thermal-hydraulic simulation by the MARS code to investigate the behavior of the APR + selected as a reference plant for the simulation. The simulation contains two phases based on water depletion: the early phase and the late phase. In the early phase, the volume of water in PCCT was determined to avoid the water depletion in three days after shutdown. In the late phase, when the number of the HXs is greater than 4089 per PCCT, the MARS simulation confirmed the long-term cooling by air is possible under extended Station Blackout (SBO).

OAPR-HOML'1: Optimal automated program repair approach based on hybrid improved grasshopper optimization and opposition learning based artificial neural network

  • Over the last decade, the scientific community has been actively developing technologies for automated software bug fixes called Automated Program Repair (APR). Several APR techniques have recently been proposed to effectively address multiple classroom programming errors. However, little attention has been paid to the advances in effective APR techniques for software bugs that are widely occurring during the software life cycle maintenance phase. To further enhance the concept of software testing and debugging, we recommend an optimized automated software repair approach based on hybrid technology (OAPR-HOML'1). The first contribution of the proposed OAPR-HOML'1 technique is to introduce an improved grasshopper optimization (IGO) algorithm for fault location identification in the given test projects. Then, we illustrate an opposition learning based artificial neural network (OL-ANN) technique to select AST node-level transformation schemas to create the sketches which provide automated program repair for those faulty projects. Finally, the OAPR-HOML'1 is evaluated using Defects4J benchmark and the performance is compared with the modern technologies number of bugs fixed, accuracy, precession, recall and F-measure.

EXPERIMENTAL SIMULATION OF A DIRECT VESSEL INJECTION LINE BREAK OF THE APR1400 WITH THE ATLAS

  • The first-ever integral effect test for simulating a guillotine break of a DVI (Direct Vessel Injection) line of the APR1400 was carried out with the ATLAS (Advanced Thermal-hydraulic Test Loop for Accident Simulation) from the same prototypic pressure and temperature conditions as those of the APR1400. The major thermal hydraulic behaviors during a DVI line break accident were identified and investigated experimentally. A method for estimating the break flow based on a balance between the change in RCS inventory and the injection flow is proposed to overcome a direct break low measurement deficiency. A post-test calculation was performed with a best-estimate safety analysis code MARS 3.1 to examine its prediction capability and to identify any code deficiencies for the thermal hydraulic phenomena occurring during the DVI line break accidents. On the whole, the prediction of the MARS code shows a good agreement with the measured data. However, the code predicted a higher core level than did the data just before a loop seal clearing occurs, leading to no increase in the peak cladding temperature. The code also produced a more rapid decrease in the downcomer water level than was predicted by the data. These observable disagreements are thought to be caused by uncertainties in predicting countercurrent flow or condensation phenomena in a downcomer region. The present integral effect test data will be used to support the present conservative safety analysis methodology and to develop a new best-estimate safety analysis methodology for DVI line break accidents of the APR1400.

Development of Chemical and Biological Decontamination Technology for Radioactive Liquid Wastes and Feasibility Study for Application to Liquid Waste Management System in APR1400 (액체방사성폐기물에 대한 화학적, 생물학적 제염기술 개발 및 APR1400 액체폐기물관리계통 적용을 위한 타당성 연구)

  • A decontamination technology for radioactive liquid wastes was newly developed and hypothetically applied to the liquid waste management system (LWMS) of the nuclear power plant (NPP) to evaluate its decontamination efficacy for the purpose of the fundamental reduction of spent resins. The basic principle of the developed technology is to convert major radionuclide ions in the liquid wastes into inorganic crystal minerals via chemical or biological techniques. In a laboratory batch experiment, the biological method selectively removed more than 80% of cesium within 24 hours, and the chemical method removed more than 95% of cesium. Other major nuclides (Co, Ni, Fe, Cr, Mn, Eu), which are commonly present in nuclear radioactive liquid wastes, were effectively scavenged by more than 99%. We have designed a module including the new technology that could be hypothetically installed between the reverse osmosis (R/O) package and the organic ion-exchange resin in the LWMS of the APR1400 reactor. From a technical evaluation for the virtual installation, we found that more than 90% of major radionuclides in the radioactive liquid wastes were selectively removed, resulting in a large volume reduction of spent resins. This means that if the new technology is commercialized in the future, it could possibly provide drastic cost reduction and significant extension of the life of resins in the management of spent resins, consequently leading to delay the saturation time of the Wolsong repository.

Physicochemical Properties and Antioxidant Activities of Ssammoo added with Natural Food Colorants (천연식품 색소를 첨가한 쌈무의 이화학적 특성 및 항산화 활성)

  • In this study, the color of ssammoo was to created in an addition of gardenia powder(GPR), citron powder(CPR), strawberry powder(SPR), and actinidia arguta powder(APR), respectivery. Ssammoo was collected on the 0th, 3rd, 7th, and 14th days of stored at 5℃. The pH of the control group and ssammoo with the actinidia arguta powder was significantly lowered over time(p <.001). The acidity was significantly decreased in the case of ssammoo with actinidia arguta powder(p <.05). The sugar content of all ssammoos increased due to osmotic pressure as the ripening period increased. The L value was the highest in the control group and increased over time(p <.001). The a and b value were the highest in ssammoo with gardenia powder(p <.001). The ΔE increased until the 7th day of storage and then decreased, suggesting that there would be a change in color value of all ssammoos after the 7th day of storage. The total phenol content and DPPH radical scavenging activity was highest in ssammoo with gardenia powder. The ABTS radical scavenging activity was highest in ssammoo with strawberry powder. This study intended to contribute to increasing the intake of vegetables and fruits with high dietary fiber content by developing colored salted and pickled foods.

Epidemiological Study of Kawasaki Disease in Kyung Nam Area (경남 지역 가와사끼병의 역학적 조사)

  • Purpose : The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiology of Kawasaki disease in the Kyung Nam area and to evaluate whether the results of this epidemiological study could support infectious etiology. Methods : We sent a questionnaire to three training hospitals in the Kyung Nam area and retrospectively reviewed their medical records of Kawasaki disease from Jun. 1995 to Dec. 1999. Results : The total number of patients was 717 cases, with little differences of annual prevalence during the five years. In all cases, the monthly prevalence of Kawasaki disease was high in Apr. and Jul. At the eastern of Kyung Nam, the monthly prevalence was high in Apr. and Jul. in 1995 and 1996, Jul. in 1997, Apr. in 1998 and Apr. and Jul. in 1999. In the central area of Kyung Nam, the monthly prevalence was high in Apr. in 1995 and 1996, Apr. and Jul. in 1997 and Jul. in 1998 and 1999. In the western Kyung Nam, the monthly prevalence was high in Nov. in 1995, Aug. in 1996, Oct. in 1997, Dec. in 1998 and Nov. in 1999. Conclusion : In the eastern and central areas of Kyung Nam, the monthly prevalence of Kawasaki disease was similarly high in Apr. and Jul. However, in the western district, the prevalence was high in late fall and winter. We could not prove the hypothesis that Kawasaki disease occurred with the spread of single infectious agent, but the a nnually similar prevalence in eastern and central Kyung Nam supported the infection theory for the etiology of the disease.
