  • The morphological variation was analysed to examine previous hypotheses on the taxonomy of B. amurensis complex which includes B. amurensis Rupr. var. amurensis, B. amurensis var. quelpaertensis (Nakai) Nakai and B. amurensis var. latifolia Nakai. The results from the univariational and principal components analyses employing 22 putatively diagnostic characters indicate that B. amurensis var. quelpaertensis is distinct from var. amurensis in the length and width of leaves, angle of leaf apex, distance between spinose teeth, length of internode, number of flowers per inflorescence, whereas B. amurensis var. latifolia is different from other varieties in the angle of leaf apex and leaf length/width ratio. In principal component analysis, the characters of the leaf including leaf width and length were the main characteristics to distinguish those three taxa. The evidence both from the principal components analyses and current geographical distribution pattern suggest that retaining the varietal status for the two taxa, B. amurensis var. latifolia and B. amurensis var. quelpaertensis is reasonable.

  • This study was to evaluate and to compare the compressive strength and the displacement effecting the abutment or the residual ridge which are transformed by the angle and the heights of the konus denture inner crown when restorating the unilateral konus denture by using the mandibular canine and the 1st premolar as an abutment. The author made 9 different models for different inner crown heights and konus angles. The inner crown height were divided to 5mm, 6mm, and 7mm and konus angles was divided to $4^{\circ}$, $6^{\circ}$, and $8^{\circ}$. And then in each model, 5kg of $15^{\circ}$ mesial load was stressed on the central fossa of the 1st premolar and the 1st molar. The stresses and displacement were measured using the finite element analysis. The results were as follows 1. The maximum compressive strength was shown on the connective area of the abutment and the denture base. 2. As the angle of the inner crown becomes increased, the compressive strength was shown smaller. 3. As the height of the inner crown becomes increased, the maximum compressive strength was shown smaller while the compressive strength of the root apex and the residual ridge showed larger. 4. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st premolar, the more compressive strength was concentrated on the root apex area of the 1st premolar. 5. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st premolar, the compressive strength was concentrated uniformly on the abutment and the residual ridge. 6. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st molar, the maximum displacement was shown on the distal part of the residual ridge.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the growth and branching pattern of stolons at Korean lawn(Zoysia japonica Steud.) in the field condition. The results were summarized as follows ; 1.About 80% of observed lawns had one primary stolon. Among the lawns with several primary stolons, 30% of them had two primary stolons, 63% had three, and 7% had four. 2.The angles between the primary stolon and the shoot were increased from 0˚ to 52˚ according to the node order from the terminal shoot apex, and reached maximum angle at the 7th node. 3.The internode length was the longest in the middle position of stolon, and its growing rate which depends on months was increased from May to September. 4.The branching angles between primary and secondary stolon were from 44˚ to 53˚ in each node. The average left branching angle was about 48.20, right branching angle 47.8˚, and the total average branching angle was 48.00. 5.The rate of initial brabch was the highest at the 10th node in May, the 7th node in July and the 5th node in September. But, the initial branching rate at the 7th node in July was higher than any other that at the 10th node in May and the 5th node in September. 6.The distribution rate of secondary stolon in each node of primary stolon was the highest at the 7th node. 7.when the terminal shoot apex of primary stolon was damaged mechanically, the branching rate at the first node after the damaged region was highly increased to 62%. The results of this study may be suggested that the secondary stolon begins to branch with the angle of 480 from the 7th node of the normal primary stolon, and those may be used as a basic data for the branching simulation in lawn.

  • Since earlier in 1947 the writer had been devoting part of his time to study alluvial fans in Korea based on his own interest in geomorphology. However, it was in 1958 when a new geography department was set up and the Research Center of National Lands was established in the university of Kyung Hee, the writer started scientific investigation for alluvial fans. The Following alluvial fans have been studied by the writer: those of Mt. Kwanak and Mt. Chungge in 1947; those of Pulkuksa in 1948; those of Suhnamsa, Suh Myun, Pusan in 1950; those of Shindonae, Mt. Kerrong, in summer of 1958; those of Hwaomsa, Kure and Yongsan Myun, Changhung, in winter of 1958. The article is the comparative study of the above mentioned alluvial fans including Suhkwangsa Fan, Chugaryng Rift Valley. Of course this is not the study covering all af alluvial fans in Korea. Within the limits of his surbey, the writer has com to a conclusion which may be helpful for the Korean alluvial fm study. 1. Korean alluvial fans are generally found in rift valleys or basins. 2. They are formed in places of below 220-meter contour line. 3. The slope from fna apex to river valley is 20-40 degree. The slope of fan surface is 5-20 degree, but most of them under 16 degree. A sudden change of slope is taken place or the fan apex and fan center. 4. Hills (100-200m) are developed on the surfaces of alluvial fans. 5. Most of rivers in alluvial fans are geyser rivers. 6. The depth of well : from ground surface to the well water surface is 4-8 m; water depth is 1-2m. 7. Land utilization; cultivated land 30%: non cultivatedland 70%. The area occupied by upland fields is twice of paddy field area. 8. Settlement : agglomerated settlement is developed on the top or the end of fan and surrounded by windbreakers. 9. Farming pattern at the top of fan fields are rectangular and parallel to flumes but at the center of fan, they are irregular and perpendicular to flumes.

  • In this paper, a new design architecture of radar signal processor in real time is proposed. It has been designed and implemented under the consideration to minimize the inter-processor communication overhead and to maintain the coherence in Doppler pulse domain and in range domain. Its structure can be easily reconfigured and reprogrammed in accordance with an addition of function algorithm or a modification of operational scenario. As we designed a task configuration for parallel processing from measures of computation time for function algorithms and transmission time for results by signal processing, data exchange between processors for performing of function algorithms could be fully removed. Morocco-2 board equipped ADSP-21060 processor of Analog Devices inc. and APEX-3.2 developed for SHARC DSP were used to construct the radar signal processor.

  • Objectives: To determine and compare the fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary central incisors restored with different posts and cores. Materials and Methods: Forty-eight upper central incisors were randomly divided into four groups: cast post and core (group 1), fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) post and composite core (group 2), composite post and core (group 3), and controls (group 4). Mesio-distal and bucco-lingual dimensions at 7 and 14 mm from the apex were compared to ensure standardization among the groups. Twelve teeth were prepared for crown restoration (group 4). Teeth in other groups were endodontically treated, decoronated at 14 mm from the apex, and prepared for posts and cores. Resin-based materials were used for cementation in groups 1 and 2. In group 3, composite was used directly to fill the post space and for core build-up. All samples were restored by standard metal crowns using glass ionomer cement, mounted at $135^{\circ}$ vertical angle, subjected to thermo-mechanical aging, and then fractured using a universal testing machine. Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used to analyze the data. Results: Fracture resistance of the groups was as follows: Control (group 4) > cast post and core (group 1) > fiber post and composite core (group 2) > composite post and core (group 3). All samples in groups 2 and 3 fractured in restorable patterns, whereas most (58%) in group 1 were non-restorable. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, FRC posts showed acceptable fracture resistance with favorable fracture patterns for reconstruction of upper central incisors.

  • Traditionally, apexification has been used to treat immature permanent teeth that have lost pulp vitality. This technique promotes the formation of an apical barrier to close the open apex so that the filling materials can be confined to the root canal. Because tissue regeneration cannot be achieved with apexification, a new technique called regenerative endodontic treatment was presented recently to treat immature permanent teeth. Regenerative endodontic treatment is a treatment procedure designed to replace damaged pulp tissue with viable tissue which restores the normal function of the pulp-dentin structure. After regenerative endodontic treatment, continued root development and hard tissue deposition on the dentinal wall can occur under ideal circumstances. However, it is difficult to predict the result of regenerative endodontic treatment. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to summarize multiple factors effects on the result of regenerative endodontic treatment in order to achieve more predictable results. In this study, we investigated the features of regenerative endodontic treatment in comparison with those of other pulp treatment procedures and analyzed the factors that have an effect on regenerative endodontic treatment.

  • There is no method to control for the child efficiently when disease happens who cannot be able to express his symptoms. Therefore, doctor's diagnosis depends on inquiring from child's patients, that leads to wrong diagnosis result. For this, in this paper, we would like to develop child ocular inspection, auscultation diagnosis instruments, using Oriental medicine principle that living body signal of five organs and six hallow organs which reflects patients face and voice We would like to get more accurate diagnosis result for child's symptoms from doctor's intuition on the basis of diagnostic sight visualization, objectification, quantization itself. This paper develops color revision, YCbCr application, and face color selection and five sensory organs and nose or apex extraction method etc, in child ocular inspection by first work achievement sequence among the whole development systems. Also, in occasion of child auscultation, crying characteristics of colics through pitch, intensity and formant analysis is numerized and objectifies doctor's intuition through this. Finally, experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of a video processor for the device of need TV-OUT function. The designed video processor satisfies the standard conditions of ITU-R(International Telecommunication Union-Radiocommunication) BT.470. Also, in order to apply various digital device, we concentrate upon hardware complexity. ITU-R BT.470 can be classified as NTSC, PAL or SECAM. NTSC and PAL use QAM(Quardarature Amplitude Modulation) to transmit color difference signals and SECAM uses FM(Frequency Modulation). FM must have antic-cloche filter but filter recommended by ITU-R BT.470 is not easy to design due to sharpness of the frequency response. So this paper proposes that the special quality of anti-cloche filter is transformed easy to design and the modulation method is modified to be identical with the result required at standard. The processor can control power consumption by output mode to apply portable digital devices. The proposed processor is experimentally demonstrated with ALTERA FPGA APEX20KE EP20K1000EBC652-3 device and SAMSUNG LCD-TV.
