  • According to the user requirements for continuous and real-time multimedia information, the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) has emerged as a main issue in mobile ad-hoc networks. QoS routing is to find the route that meets the QoS requirements of the users. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol that is based on AODV over TDMA, one of the typical routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks, by making a bandwidth reservation for QoS guarantee. While the existing schemes calculate the maximum available bandwidth for each candidate path, our scheme is to check only if the bandwidth of a given path satisfies the end-to-end QoS requirement and then to make a reservation by allocating time slots efficiently in the wireless environment. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed QoS routing protocol, some simulations are carried out in the ad-hoc environment.

  • In order to operate multi drone efficiently, existing control methods must be improved, and drones must be able to construct communication networks autonomously. FANET(Flying Ad-Hoc Network), which is being considered as an alternative to solving these problems, is based on ad hoc network technology and can be exposed to a variety of security vulnerabilities. However, due to the limited computational power and memory of FANET nodes, and rapid and frequent changes in network topology, it is not easy to apply the existing security measures to FANET without modification. Thus, this paper proposes lightweight security measures applicable to FANET, which have distinct characteristics from existing ad hoc networks by utilizing PUF technology. The proposed security measures utilize unique values generated by non-replicable PUFs to increase the safety of AODV, FANET's reactive routing protocol, and are resistant to various attacks.

  • For the real time monitoring and tracking of shipping container which is one of the core objects for global logistics, Wireless Ad-Hoc Network technology might be needed in stacking environments such as ports, yards and ships. In this paper, we propose a container network routing protocol suitable for port or yard stacking environments which include some constraints such as shadow area problem from metal material, frequent movement of container, etc. With this protocol in which a mesh network algorithm is applied, every container data packet can be delivered to the sink node reliably even with frequent join/leave of container nodes. As soon as a node on path gets malfunction, alternative backup path is supported with notice to neighbor node, which makes constant total optimal path. We also verified that the performance of proposed protocol is better than AODV, one of previous major MANet(Mobile Ad-Hoc Network) protocol with a function for alternative path, which says the proposed protocol is better for frequent join/leave and variable link quality.

  • This paper is primarily concerned with multi-path routing in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). We propose a novel associativity-based on-demand source routing protocol for MANETs that attempts to establish relatively stable path(s) between the source and the destination. We introduce a new notion for gauging the temporal and spatial stability of nodes, and hence the paths interconnecting them. The proposed protocol is compared with other unipath (DSDV and AODV) and multi-path (AOMDV) routing protocols. We investigate the performance in terms of throughput, normalized routing overhead, packet delivery ratio etc. All on-demand protocols show good performance in mobile environments with less traffic overhead compared to proactive approaches, but they are prone to longer end-to-end delays due to route discovery and maintenance.

  • When the movement of a node breaks the route in ad-hoc network, on-demand routing protocol performs the local route recovery or a new route search for the route maintenance. And when it performs the new route search or the local search, the packet which is transmitted can be delayed. There are ARMP and RPAODV as the methods reducing the delay resulted from the route-breakage. They predict the route-breakage and construct an alterative local route before the occurrence of the route-breakage. When the link state is unstable, the success rate of the alternative local route that can avoid the route-breakage can give a direct effect on the route-breakage and the transmission delay, To estimate the performance of routing protocols avoiding route-breakage, we suggest the numerical formulas of AODV, the representative on-demand routing protocol, and ARMP, RPAODV. To verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed numerical formulas, we analysis and compare with the results of the computer simulation and that of the numerical formulas.

  • A VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network), a subclass of MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network), is an ad hoc network using wireless communication between vehicles without fixed infrastructure such as base station. VANET suffers a frequent link breakage and network topology change because of the rapid movement of vehicles and the density change of vehicles. From these characteristics of VANET, geographical routing protocols such as GPSR (Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing) using only the information of neighbor nodes are more suitable rather than AODV and DSR that are used in existing MANETs. However, GPSR may have a transmission delay and packet loss by frequent link disconnection and continual local maxima under the low vehicle density conditions. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a DTVR (Delay Tolerant Vehicular Routing) algorithm that perform a DTN-based routing scheme if there is no 2-hop neighbor nodes for efficient routing under the low vehicle densities in VANETs. Simulation results using ns-2 reveal that the proposed DTVR protocol performs much better performance than the existing routing protocols.

  • In this paper, Ad-hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes without any wired infrastructure. Design of efficient routing protocols in ad-hoc network is a challenging issue. An AODV routing protocol for wireless ad hoc networks one that searches for and attempts to discover a route to some destination node. We propose a technique that reduce the number of Routing packet. Our technique use variable values reflecting the condition of network. This also contributes to improve throughput.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) is the structure in which a source node communicates with a destination node by establishing a route with neighbor nodes without using the existing wired or wireless network. Therefore, the routing protocol for MANET must correspond well to changes in the channel state of moving nodes, and should have simple operation, high reliability, and no routing loop. In this paper, the simulation was perform by using a traffic model with on/off two states provided by the NS-3 network simulator. Also, the duration of the ON state and the duration of the OFF state used the traffic where inter arrival time of data is irregular by generating random values with constant, exponential distribution, and Pareto distribution. The performance of the DSDV, OLSR, and AODV protocols was compare and analyzed using the generated traffic model.

  • An advantage of the mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is that mobile nodes can self-organize the network topology without the help of network infrastructure. However, for the perfect self-organization of the MANET, each mobile node needs to self-configure its address. Even though a mobile node configures a unique address during the booting time, its address may conflict with nodes in other MANETs since MANETs containing the same address can be merged. The address autoconfiguration protocol implemented in this work consists of the strong DAD (Duplicate Address Detection) and the weak DAD. A unique address of a node is assigned by the strong DAD during the booting time and the weak DAD is used to detect address conflict and resolve address conflict during the ad hoc routing. In this work, we have implemented address autoconfiguration in the IPv6-based MANET using AODV as the routing protocol. We describe how the IPv6 address autoconfiguration is implemented and verify our implementation by showing the test scenarios on our testbed.

  • Since the mobile node acts as the router, the Mobile Ad Hoc network requires the security methods that are different from that of network of the wire environment. Also, since the total network can't be included in the transmission area of the mobile node, when one node sends the message to the other node, we need the middle node. But if the middle node is the unreliable malicious node, we can't guarantee the secure message transmission. Also, because all nodes configuring the network are the mobile nodes, they use the restricted battery capacity and the restricted resources. Therefore, because we have trouble performing the encryption that many resources are required when we sending the message, it is vulnerable to the security than the network of the wire environment. Last, because the network topology continues to change by the mobility of nodes configuring the network, we need the security measure that matches the network characteristics. We suggest the routing attack detection for performance enhancement of AODV protocol in Mobile Ad Hoc networks.
