Gold nanoparticles have recognized a promising drug carriers in many diseases. These nanoparticles could carry anti-inflammatory drugs in the case of muscle injury and for fatigue relief. On the other hand, specific surface of this kind of nanoparticles could be critical in amount of drug they could carry. Therefore, in this study, we explore different methodology and influencing parameters on the specific surface of gold nanoparticles. After specifying the main parameters, different machine learning and artificial neural network are adopted to model the effects of different parameters. Furthermore, response surface methodology is utilized to obtain a quadrilateral relationship between different parameters and specific surface. The results indicate that concentration of the gold salt solution is the most important parameter in increasing the size of gold nanoparticle and, as a consequence, increasing specific surface. Moreover, the ability of gold nanoparticles in prolonging retention of the drugs is discussed in detail.

This paper aimed to investigate the nonclassical size dependent free vibration behavior of regularly squared cutout viscoelastic nanobeams. The nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory is modified and adopted to incorporate the viscoelasticity effect. The Kelvin Voigt viscoelastic model is adopted to model the linear viscoelastic constitutive response. To explore the influence of shear deformation effect due to cutout, both Euler Bernoulli and Timoshenko beams theories are considered. The Hamilton principle is utilized to derive the dynamic equations of motion incorporating viscoelasticity and size dependent effects. Closed form solutions for the resonant frequencies for both perforated Euler Bernoulli nanobeams (PEBNB) and perforated Timoshenko nanobeams (PTNB) are derived considering different boundary conditions. The developed procedure is verified by comparing the obtained results with the available results in the literature. Parametric studies are conducted to show the influence of the material damping, the perforation, the material and the geometrical parameters as well as the boundary and loading conditions on the dynamic behavior of viscoelastic perforated nanobeams. The proposed procedure and the obtained results are supportive in the analysis and design of perforated viscoelastic NEMS structures.
Recent developments in the synthesis of nanomagnesia of controlled sizes and shapes that are suitable for various applications are reviewed. Two main methods, based on liquid-phase synthesis, i.e., chemical methods and bio-based methods, are used to synthesize nanomagnesia. Conventionally, nanomagnesia was synthesized by chemical methods such as coprecipitation, sol-gel, combustion method, and so on using different chemical agents and stabilizers which later on become responsible for several biological risks because of the toxicity of used chemicals. Bio-based protocols are growing as another environmental friend method for the synthesis of various nanostructures especially nanomagnesia using biomass, plant extracts, alga, and fungi as a source of precursor material. The ideal method should offer better control of textural properties of nanostructures and decrease the necessity for purification of the synthesized nanoproducts, which sequentially removes the use of large amounts of chemicals and organic solvents and manipulation of products that are unsafe to the environment. Finally, the broad applicability of nanomagnesia in diverse areas is presented. Employment of nanomagnesia reported in several laboratory and industrial fields are valued from the standpoint of the significance of these issues for technological requests, as described in the literature. Nanomagnesia has various applications such as antimicrobial performance, removing pollutants, batteries application, and catalysis.
Recently, promising structural technologies like multi-function, ultra-load bearing capacity and tailored structures have been put up for discussions. Finite Element (FE) modelling is probably the best-known option capable of treating these superior properties and multi-domain behavior structures. However, advanced materials such as Functionally Graded Material (FGM) and nanocomposites suffer from problems resulting from variable material properties, reinforcement aggregation and mesh generation. Motivated by these factors, this research proposes a unified shape function for FGM, nanocomposites, graded nanocomposites, in addition to traditional isotropic and orthotropic structural materials. It depends not only on element length but also on the beam's material properties and geometric characteristics. The systematic mathematical theory and FE formulations are based on the Timoshenko beam theory for beam structure. Furthermore, the introduced element achieves C1 degree of continuity. The model is proved to be convergent and free-off shear locking. Moreover, numerical results for static and free vibration analysis support the model accuracy and capabilities by validation with different references. The proposed technique overcomes the issue of continuous properties modelling of these promising materials without discarding older ones. Therefore, introduced benchmark improvements on the FE old concept could be extended to help the development of new software features to confront the rapid progress of structural materials.
Crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells have advantages of zero pollution, large scale and high reliability. A major challenge is that sunlight wavelength with photon energy lower than semiconductor band gap is converted into heat and increase its temperature and reduce its conversion efficiency. Traditional cooling PV method is using water flowing below the modules to cool down PV temperature. In this paper, the idea is proposed to reduce the temperature of the module and improve the energy conversion efficiency of the module through the modulation of the solar spectrum. A spectrally selective nanofilm reflector located directly on the surface of PV is designed, which can reflect sunlight wavelength with low photon energy, and even enhance absorption of sunlight wavelength with high photon energy. The results indicate that nanofilm reflector can reduce spectral reflectivity integral from 9.0% to 6.93% in 400~1100 nm wavelength range, and improve spectral reflectivity integral from 23.1% to 78.34% in long wavelength range. The nanofilm reflector can reduce temperature of PV by 4.51℃ and relatively improved energy conversion efficiency of PV by 1.25% when solar irradiance is 1000 W/m2. Furthermore, the nanofilm reflector is insensitive in sunlight's angle and polarization state, and be suitable for high irradiance environment.
In this study, free vibration analysis of FG porous spherical cap reinforced by graphene platelets resting on Winkler-type elastic foundation has been surveyed for the first time. Three different types of porosity patterns are considered for the spherical cap whose two types of porosity patterns in the metal matrix are symmetric and the other one is uniform. Besides, five GPL patterns are assumed for dispersing of GPLs in the metal matrix. Tsai-Halpin and extended rule of the mixture are used to determine the Young modulus and mass density of the shell, respectively. Employing 3D FEM elasticity in conjunction with Hamilton's Principle, the governing motion equations of the structure are obtained and solved. The impact of various parameters including porosity coefficient, various porosity distributions in conjunction with different GPL patterns, the weight fraction of graphene Nano fillers, polar angles and stiffness coefficient of elastic foundation on natural frequencies of FG porous spherical cap reinforced by GPLs have been reported for the first time.

This work is the first of its kind to integrate Mindlin's theory with analytical methods in order to produce an exact solution to a specific vibration issue as well as a bending problem involving a nanoplate that is supported by a viscoelastic foundation. The plate is exposed to the simultaneous effects of a compressive load in the plate plane and a force operating perpendicular to the plane of the nanoplate. In addition, the flexoelecity effect is included into the plate. The strain gradient component is taken into consideration while calculating the plate equilibrium equation using the nonlocal theory and Hamilton's principle. The free vibration and static responses of the nanoplate seem to be both real and imaginary components because of the appearance of the viscoelastic drag coefficient of the viscoelastic foundation. This study also shows that when analyzing the mechanical response for nanostructure, taking into account the flexoelectricity effect and the influence of the nonlocal parameter, the results will be completely different from the case in which this parameter is ignored. This indicates that it is vital to take into consideration the effects of nonlocal parameters on the nanosheet structure while also taking into consideration the effect of flexoelectricity.
Advancements in the technology of building materials has led to diverse applications of nanomaterials with the aim to monitor concrete structures. While there are myriad instances of the use of nanoparticles in building materials, the production of smart nano cement-composites is often expensive. Thereupon, this research aims to discover a sustainable nanomaterial from tyre waste using the pyrolysis process as part of the green manufacturing circle. Here, Nano Structure Tyre-Char (NSTC) is introduced as a zero-dimension carbon-based nanoparticle. The NSTC particles were characterized using various standard characterization techniques. Several salient results for the NSTC particles were obtained using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. The size of the particles as well as that of the agglomerates were reduced significantly using the milling process and the results were validated through a scanning electron microscope. The crystallite size and crystallinity were found to be ~35nm and 10.42%, respectively. The direct bandgap value of 5.93eV and good optical conductivity at 786 nm were obtained from the ultra violet visible spectroscopy measurements. The thermal analysis reveals the presence of a substantial amount of carbon, the rate of maximum weight loss, and the two stages of phase transformation. The FT-Raman confirms the presence of carboxyl groups and a ID/IG ratio of 0.83. Water contact angle around 140° on the surface implies the highly hydrophobic nature of the material and its low surface energy. This characteristic process assists to obtain a sustainable nanomaterial from waste tyres, contributing to the development of a smart building material.
Carbon nanotubes are drawing wide attention of research communities and several industries due to their versatile capabilities covering mechanical and other multi-physical properties. However, owing to extreme operating conditions of the synthesis process of these nanostructures, they are often imposed with certain inevitable structural deformities such as single vacancy and nanopore defects. These random irregularities limit the intended functionalities of carbon nanotubes severely. In this article, we investigate the mechanical behaviour of double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWCNT) under the influence of arbitrarily distributed single vacancy and nanopore defects in the outer wall, inner wall, and both the walls. Large-scale molecular simulations reveal that the nanopore defects have more detrimental effects on the mechanical behaviour of DWCNTs, while the defects in the inner wall of DWCNTs make the nanostructures more vulnerable to withstand high longitudinal deformation. From a different perspective, to exploit the mechanics of damage for achieving defect-induced shape modulation and region-wise deformation control, we have further explored the localized longitudinal and transverse spatial effects of DWCNT by designing the defects for their regional distribution. The comprehensive numerical results of the present study would lead to the characterization of the critical mechanical properties of DWCNTs under the presence of inevitable intrinsic defects along with the aspect of defect-induced spatial modulation of shapes for prospective applications in a range of nanoelectromechanical systems and devices.
This study focuses on wave propagation analysis in the curved nanobeam exposed to different thermal loadings based on the Nonlocal Strain Gradient Theory (NSGT). Mechanical properties of the constitutive materials are assumed to be temperature-dependent and functionally graded. For modeling, the governing equations are derived using Hamilton's principle. Using the proposed model, the effects of small-scale, geometrical, and thermo-mechanical parameters on the dynamic behavior of the curved nanobeam are studied. A small-scale parameter, Z, is taken into account that collectively represents the strain gradient and the nonlocal parameters. When Z<1 or Z>1, the phase velocity decreases/increases, and the stiffness-softening/hardening phenomenon occurs in the curved nanobeam. Accordingly, the phase velocity depends more on the strain gradient parameter rather than the nonlocal parameter. As the arc angle increases, more variations in the phase velocity emerge in small wavenumbers. Furthermore, an increase of ∆T causes a decrease in the phase velocity, mostly in the case of uniform temperature rise rather than heat conduction. For verification, the results are compared with those available for the straight nanobeam in the previous studies. It is believed that the findings will be helpful for different applications of curved nanostructures used in nano-devices.
