  • An experimental study was done to examine the effects of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang on gastro-intestinal track and central nervous system and were undertaken by being carried out with rat. The following results have been obtained ; 1. Dokwhaljiwhang-tang showed to have an inhibitory effect on the smooth muscle contraction of the isolated ileum by acetylcholene chloride and barium chloride. 2. Dokwhaljiwhang-tang showed to have an inhibitory effect on the contraction of the gastric fundus-strip by acetylcholine chloride and barium chloride. 3. The preventive effect was recognized on the pylorus-ligated ulcer, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. 4. The preventive effect was not recognized on the indomethacine -induced ulcer, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. 5. The inhibitory effects on the secretion gastric juice, free acidity were recognized, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang 6. The transport ability in the small intestine was increased, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. 7. The transport ability in the large intestine was increased, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. 8. The analgesic effect was recognized, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. 9. The effect of sleeping time was not recognized, by administration of Dokwhaljiwhang-tang. according to the results, it is considered that Dokwhaljiwhang-tang has effects of gastric ulcer, chronic gastritis,hyper-acidity, gastroptosis such as abdominal discomfort, gastric acid, indigestion and anorexia.

  • General pharmacological properties of ι-muscone, the major component of musk, were investigatedin mice, rats and guinea pig. The administration of ι-muscone (1, 10, 100 mg/kg, p.o.) in mice had no effects in general behaviors, and no influences on analgesic actions and normal body temperature. Muscle relaxant action, intestinal propulsion and gastric secretion were not observed even at the high dose of 100 mg/kg. ι-Muscone (1, 10, 100 mg/kg, p.o.) given to conscious rats showed no effect on mean blood pressure and heart rate. It showed no direct effect at 2.4$\times$10.3 mg/ml and 2.4$\times$10-2 mg/ml in isolated uterus of rats and ileum of guinea pig, and also had no inhibition of contraction induced by oxytocin and histamine.

  • Purpose: To investigate effect of Sweet Bee Venom on postpartum's De Quervain's Disease. Methods: We investigated 3 patients diagnosed as De Quervain's Disease. Sweet Bee Venom Herbal-acupuncture was used for treatment of De Quervain's Disease, once every two days, 5 times. Pain, satisfaction at treatment and function of wrist were measured with VNS, Baumgaertner's nine point scale and dynamometer. Results: Pain reduction, functional improvement, increased grip power were found out in cases treated with Sweet Bee Venom Herbal-acupuncture. In every cases, they represent high subjective satisfaction with treatment. Conclusion: Clinical results show that Sweet Bee Venom Herbal-acupuncture has a good analgesic effect in De Quervain's Disease.

  • Background : Analgesic effect of intra-articular morphine or ketoronac treatment alone, or a combination of both drugs, on postoperative pain were evaluated in 40 healthy male patients undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Method : Upon completion of surgery under spinal anesthesia, each patients knee joint was injected with 30 ml of 0.25% bupivacaine. Then, via parenteral or intra-articular route, one study group received morphine and other group received ketorolac. Results : Groups who received either intra-articular ketorolac, or morphine, experienced decreased postoperative pain reducing need for additional analgesics. The combination treatment of intra-articular morphine and ketorolac did not improved results. Conclusions : Singular use of either intra-articular morphine, or ketorolac, improves postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing arthroscopic sugery: Combination of these drugs offered no further advantage over its single prescription.

  • Melanin is a main pigment found in skin. hair and eyes, and tyrosinase plays an important role in the process of melanin polymer biosynthesis. Caesalpinia sappan L.(C. sappan) has been commonly used in Oriental folk medicines to promote blood circulation and as analgesic as well as remedy for thrombosis. This present study was designed to investigate the effect of ethyl acetate extract from C. sappan on melanogenesis in Melan-a cells. (omitted)

  • Solanum lyratum (Solanaceae) has been used as a traditional analgesic, antipyretic and hepatoprotective agents in Korea. In this study, we investigated the hepatoprotective effect of ethylacetate extract of Solanum lyratum (SL) on the dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced liver damage in rats. Oral administration of SL (150, 300 mg/kg daily for 4 weeks) into the DMN-treated rats remarkably prevented the elevation of serum alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase and alkaline phosphatase levels. • In order to investigate the efficacy of combined preparations of crude drug, first, 'Kamisamhwang-Tang' were examined for pharmacological effect. Crude drug preparations were extracted successively with $H_2O$ and MeOH, and the extracts were developed on silicagel G plate were examined using the Dual-Wavelength TLC Scanner CS-910(Schimadzu) in ultra violet region. To estimate the clinical usefulness of 'Kamisamhwang-Tang' in heart disease (Symbyung syndrome), the above extracts were made an experiment on effects of the anticonvulsion, antipyretic, analgesic and sedative in mice, rats, and rabbits.

  • The electromagnetic agent used in physical therapy rely far their effects on tissue heating and photo reaction of the body, Infrared has a thermal and analgesic effect, Ultra violet produces direct photo chemical reaction when it interacts with the body. Laser has broad effect on medicine, Ten ding Diancibo Pu (TDP) is in the infrared ray. The wave range is 20,000-250,000, as a far infrared. The effects of the TDP are number of white and red blued cell, capacity of animal immunization activity of enzyme in the organ and blood sugar density.

  • This study was to determine whether iontophoresis application would produce analgesic effect for clinical practice. Physical therapist controls pain produced by various causes and plays a role improving functional disability. I studied varieties of pain theories, mechanisms and iontoporosis principles which need for physical therapist. These were summarized as follwings; 1 . In the case of chronic patients, it is helpful to adapt iontophoresis treatment as well as generalized treatments which goals for pain releasc. 2. lontophoresis treatment should be positively examined to control pains safely. efficienently without sideeffects. 3. lontoporesis treatment suggests the foundations that hormone or anaesthetics should be incluided in the range of medicines physical therapist can deal with.

  • It was previously indicated that 'Samulanshintang' had been examined for effects of the anticonvulsive, antipyretic, analgesic, sedative and antispasmodic actions. In order to investigate the effect on the cardiovascular system and anemic rabbits induced by phenlhydrazine HCl, pharmacological studies have been carried out with extract. The results of this investigation were summarized as follows: The relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and antihistamine action were recognized. Antihypertensive and vasodilating actions due to vascular smooth muscle relaxation were noted in frogs and rabbits. 'Samulanshintang' lowered the rate of anemia induced by phenylhydrazine and rapidly recovered from the anemia state.
