MTA와 포틀랜드 시멘트의 구성성분분석과 세포독성에 관한 연구 (Ingredients and cytotoxicity of MTA and 3 kinds of Portland cements)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 3 종의 포틀랜드 시멘트 (포틀랜드 시멘트, 백색 포틀랜드 시멘트, 초속경 시멘트)와 white MTA의 성분 및 세포독성을 비교하는 것이다. 성분비교를 위해서 X선 회절기 (XRD), X선 형광분석기 (XRF), 유도결합플라즈마 원자방출분광 분석기 (ICP-AES)를 사용하였으며, 세포독성비교를 위해서는 우무확산법 (agar diffusion test)을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, white MTA와 백색 포틀랜드 시멘트는 포틀랜드 시멘트나 초속경 시멘트에 비해 적은 양의 마그네슘 (mg), 철 (Fe), 아연 (Zn), 그리고 망간 (Mn)을 함유하고 있었다. 또한 초속경 시멘트는 다른 시멘트 및 white MTA에 비해 많은 산화 알루미늄 ($Al_2O_3$)을 함유하고 있었다. MTA와 포틀랜드 시멘트의 주된 성분은 tricalcicium silicate ($3CaO{\cdot}SiO_2$), dicalcium Silicate ($2CaO{\cdot}SiO_2$), tricalcium aluminate ($3CaO{\cdot}Al_2O_3$), 그리고 tetracalcium aluminoferrite (4CaO{\cdot}Al_2O_3{\cdot}Fe_2O_3)등이었다 세포독성 실험결과를 Kruskal-Wallis Exact test와 Bonferroni 사후 검정법을 사용하여 분석 한 결과 white MTA와 3 종의 포틀랜드 시멘트 군 사이에서 통계적으로 유의성 있는 차이를 보이지 않았다 (p > 0.05). White MTA와 3종의 포틀랜드 시멘트의 주성분은 유사하였으나 알루미늄 (Al), 마그네슘 (mg), 철 (Fe), 아연 (Zn), 그리고 망간 (Mn) 등의 함량에서는 차이를 보였으며 이러한 차이들은 물리적 성질에 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다.

호주 퀸즈랜드 주 캔닝턴 광상 모암의 아연-첨정석-규선석-석류석에 관한 연구 :변성작용과 아연-광화작용에 대해서 (Gahnite-Sillimanite-Garnet Mineral Assemblage from the Host Rocks of the Cannington Deposit, North Queensland, Australia: Relationship between Metamorphism and Zn-Mineralization)

  • 연구는 호주 퀸즈랜드 주 북서부에 위치하는 은-납-아연 캔닝턴 광상은 호상편마암, 미그마타이트, 규선석-석류석 편암 그리고 각섬암으로 구성된 모암 주변부에서 발달해 있다. 모암에서 산출되는 규선석의 세 가지 다른 결정형태, 규선석을 포획광물로 함유한 아연-첨정석과 석류석 반상변정은 모암의 변성작용과 아연과 관련된 광화작용에 대한 지질학적 지시자로 사용되었다. 변성작용과 아연 광화작용과의 관계는 프로그램 THERMOCALC를 이용하여 KFMASH (K$_2$O-FeO-MgO-A1$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$- $H_2O$), KFMASHTO (K$_2$O-FeO-MgO-A1$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$-$H_2O$-TiO$_2$-Fe$_2$O$_3$), NCKFMASH ($Na_2$O-CaO-K$_2$O-FeO-MgO-Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$-$H_2O$) 그리고 MnNCKFMASH (MnO-$Na_2$O-CaO-K$_2$O-FeO-MgO-Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$-$H_2O$) 화학계에서 이들 세 가지 광물의 공생관계와 규선석-석류석-부분용융의 상평형 관계를 이용하여 결정하였다. MnNCKFMASH와 NCKFMASH계에서 부분 용융은 KFMASH와 KFMASHTO계에서 보다 낮은 온도에서 일어나며, MnNCKFMASH 계에서 용융 온도는 암석 화학 성분의 Na+Ca+K)의 비가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보인다. 캔닝턴 광상의 모암은 MnNCKFMASH계의 경우 최고 온도와 압력 환경에서(634$\pm$62$^{\circ}C$, 4.8$\pm$1.3 kbar) 약 15% 용융되지만, KFMASHTO계하에서는 부분 용융이 일어나지 않는다. 규선석의 등변성도선과 모드 비의 변화를 근거로, 주상과 능면형의 규선석과 주상의 규선석을 포획하는 아연-첨정석 반상변정은 부분 용융을 포함하는 온도와 압력의 증가(약 550~$600^{\circ}C$, 2.0~3.0 kbar에서 700~75$0^{\circ}C$, 5.0~7.0 kbar)로 인한 것으로 생각된다. 또한 이와 같은 변성작용 동안의 최대 수축 변형 방향은 남-북 그 다음 동서 방향으로 주로 D$_1$과 D$_2$ 변형작용 동안에 형성되어졌다. 결론적으로 아연-첨정석의 성장과 관련된 아연 광화 작용은 D$_2$ 동안에 일어났고 그 후 부분 용융과 후기 변형/변성작용에 의해 재배치 또는 재농집 되어진 것으로 생각된다.

바이오가스 개질 반응으로부터 합성가스 제조를 위한 반응 모사 연구 (A Simulation Study on the Synthesis of Syngas from the Reforming Reaction of Biogas)

  • The amount of biogas increases as the amount of organic waste increases. Recently, biogas from organic waste have been made much efforts to utilize as a energy. In particular, the concentration of $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ generated from sewage sludge and livestock manure treatment are 60-70% and 30-35%, and $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ generated from food wastes are 60-80% and 20-40%. In case of landfill gas, $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ have a concentration of 40-60% and 40-60% respectively. Therefore, in order to use the biogas more widely, it is necessary to convert the biogas to methanol, LNG or DME. In this study, experiments were conducted to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide through various biogas reforming reactions on $Ni/Ce-ZrO_2/Al2O3$ catalysts. The experiment of synthetic gas synthesis was carried out on a wide concentrations of methane and carbon dioxide, which were the major constituents of biogas from various organic wastes. The effect of $(O_2+CO_2)/CH_4$ (=R') on the yields of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, the conversion rate of methane and carbon dioxide was investigated. Also simulation for syngas synthesis on the $CO_2$ reforming of $CH_4$ was computed by employing total Gibbs free energy minimization method using PRO/II simulator, and compared with the experimental results on wet and dry reforming reaction of biogas.

Seismic characterization of cold formed steel pallet racks

  • Storage racks are used worldwide in industries and commercial outlets due to the advantage of lighter, faster erection and easy alteration of pallet level as required. The studies to understand the behaviour of cold formed steel pallet racks, under seismic action is one of the emerging area of research. The rack consists of perforated uprights and beams with hook-in end connector, which enables the floor height adjustments. The dynamic characteristics of these racks are not well established. This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of 3-D single bay two storey pallet rack system with hook-in end connectors, which is tested on shake table. The sweep sine test and El Centro earthquake acceleration is used to evaluate the seismic performance of the cold formed steel pallet racks. Also an attempt is made to evaluate the realistic dynamic characteristics by using STAAD Pro software. Modal analysis is performed by incorporating the effective moment of inertia of the upright, which considers the effect of presence of perforations and rotational stiffness of the beam-to-upright connection to determine the realistic fundamental frequency of pallet racks, which is required for carrying out the seismic design. Finite element model of the perforated upright section has been developed as a cantilever beam through which effective moment of inertia is evaluated. The stiffness of the hook-in connector is taken from the previous study by Prabha et al. (2010). The results from modal analysis are in good agreement with the respective experimental results.

Comparison of the Effects of Matrix Metalloproteinase Inhibitors on TNF-α Release from Activated Microglia and TNF-α Converting Enzyme Activity

  • Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are zinc-dependent endopeptidases that regulate cell-matrix composition and are also involved in processing various bioactive molecules such as cell-surface receptors, chemokines, and cytokines. Our group recently reported that MMP-3, -8, and -9 are upregulated during microglial activation and play a role as proinflammatory mediators (Lee et al., 2010, 2014). In particular, we demonstrated that MMP-8 has tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-${\alpha}$)-converting enzyme (TACE) activity by cleaving the prodomain of TNF-${\alpha}$ and that inhibition of MMP-8 inhibits TACE activity. The present study was undertaken to compare the effect of MMP-8 inhibitor (M8I) with those of inhibitors of other MMPs, such as MMP-3 (NNGH) or MMP-9 (M9I), in their regulation of TNF-${\alpha}$ activity. We found that the MMP inhibitors suppressed TNF-${\alpha}$ secretion from lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells in an order of efficacy: M8I>NNGH>M9I. In addition, MMP inhibitors suppressed the activity of recombinant TACE protein in the same efficacy order as that of TNF-${\alpha}$ inhibition (M8I>NNGH>M9I), proving a direct correlation between TACE activity and TNF-${\alpha}$ secretion. A subsequent pro-TNF-${\alpha}$ cleavage assay revealed that both MMP-3 and MMP-9 cleave a prodomain of TNF-${\alpha}$, suggesting that MMP-3 and MMP-9 also have TACE activity. However, the number and position of cleavage sites varied between MMP-3, -8, and -9. Collectively, the concurrent inhibition of MMP and TACE by NNGH, M8I, or M9I may contribute to their strong anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.

  • 강우는 토양 침식을 일으키는 가장 능동적인 힘 중 하나이다. 다양한 속도와 운동에너지를 가지고 낙하하는 우적은 토양에 충격을 주는 침식력으로 작용한다. 우적의 변동 속도와 운동에너지는 우적의 직경에 직접적으로 의존한다. 이 연구의 목적은 브라질 Alagoas주 Maceió 지역에서 강우에 의한 토양 침식을 산정 할 수 있는 알고리즘을 결정하는 것이다. 이를 위해 1분 간격의 강우 분포를 지속적으로 자동 측정하는 RD-69 디즈드로미터를 사용하여 2003년부터 2006년까지 침식성 강우 자료를 수집하였다. 독립 변수가 강수량인 지수 관계식과 독립 변수가 지속 시간과 최대 강도인 지수 관계식 형태로 최적화된 알고리즘이 결정되었다.

계수공제영상 방사선 측정법을 이용한 치주판막술 후 치조골 변화의 평가 (AN ASSESSMENT OF THE SHORT-TERM EFFECT OF PERIODONTAL FLAP SURGERY BY DIGITAL SUBTRACTION RADIOGRAPHY)

  • Since $Gr{\"{o}}nadhl$ et al introduced a digital subtraction radiography into periodontal dignosis in 1983, many reports using this system has aimed to assess the peroiodontal disease activity and the alveolar bone changes after periodontal treatment. The present study was performed to evaluate the usefulness of digital subtraction radiography for asessing an alveolar bone changes in 3 months after periodontal flap surgery. Serial intraral raiographs were taken from 5 normal subjects and 6 periodontally diseased patients using customized bite blocks attached to film holder in fxation device and digitized by image processing system(consisting of IBM 386, digital frame grabber, CCD camera, Image-pro II software). And the reference parameters were measured by pixel unit and compared with respective radiographs. The serial radiographs showed a little and statistically insignificant difference in reference paramenters. The conventional intraoral radiographs, the subtraction images and the clor enhanced subtraction images were reviewed by 4 examiners and the examiner's agreement rates were compared. The subtraction images and its color enhanced images showed higher examiner's agreement rate than the conventional radiographs. And the propotions of sites diagnosed with bone loss or gain after periodontal surgery were highter in the subtraction images and its color enhanced images than in the conventional radiographs. Especially, in color enhanced images, the unber of bone agin sites tended to increase according to post-surgery periods. These results indicate that projection geometry could be standardized with the divice used in this study, and the subtraction radiography may be useful to assess an alveolar bone changes after periodntal flap surgery.

척추교정 티타늄 앵커나사 파단 손상원인 분석 (Failure Analysis of Ti alloy Screws in Fixing Fractured Spines)

  • Failure analyses of the screws in spinal fixation devices were carried out. The fractured screws were retrieved from a patient who had spinal surgery in the thoracic vertebrae from number 10 to 15. The failure occurred one month after the removal of the braces. Microstructures and fracture surfaces were examined by optical and scanning electron microscopy. The microstructures of the screws corresponded to annealed Ti-6Al-4V bar. However, in the vicinity of the screw surface, there was an insufficient number of fine precipitates. Fracture surfaces showed typical fatigue failure modes. Regarding the fact that no machining defects were detected, fatigue crack initiation might have been caused by the lack of precipitates near the screw surfaces. Only the fourth of five fixed screws was severely stress-concentrated by the action of the spinal bones, while the stress of the 4th screw was decreased to half of its acceptable level when the screw was supplemented by one more, which might have been fixed in the 6th vertebra under the 5th position by the switching of its position. The stress simulation was conducted by ANSYS with 3D CAD of PRO/E in order to understand the stress concentration behavior and to provide an effective spinal surgery guide.

An Efficient Game Theory-Based Power Control Algorithm for D2D Communication in 5G Networks

  • Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is one of the enabling technologies for 5G networks that support proximity-based service (ProSe) for wireless network communications. This paper proposes a power control algorithm based on the Nash equilibrium and game theory to eliminate the interference between the cellular user device and D2D links. This leadsto reliable connectivity with minimal power consumption in wireless communication. The power control in D2D is modeled as a non-cooperative game. Each device is allowed to independently select and transmit its power to maximize (or minimize) user utility. The aim is to guide user devices to converge with the Nash equilibrium by establishing connectivity with network resources. The proposed algorithm with pricing factors is used for power consumption and reduces overall interference of D2Ds communication. The proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of the energy efficiency of the average power consumption, the number of D2D communication, and the number of iterations. Besides, the algorithm has a relatively fast convergence with the Nash Equilibrium rate. It guarantees that the user devices can achieve their required Quality of Service (QoS) by adjusting the residual cost coefficient and residual energy factor. Simulation results show that the power control shows a significant reduction in power consumption that has been achieved by approximately 20% compared with algorithms in [11].

The effects of elastic band exercises and nutritional education on frailty, strength, and nutritional intake in elderly women

  • [Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of elastic band exercises and nutritional education, as well as to identify the factors influencing frailty, strength, and nutritional intake of elderly women. [Methods] The subjects in this study were 30 elderly women who were divided into four groups. All groups agreed to participate in four programs: health education only (HE), elastic band exercises only (EX), nutritional education only (NU), and elastic band exercises plus nutritional education (EX+NU). Frailty was evaluated by measuring the frailty factors according to Fried et al. Leg strength was measured using a leg-extension machine. Nutritional intake was assessed by the 24-hour recall method and food records. Nutritional intake was analyzed by CAN Pro 5.0 program. [Results] After three months, the prevalence of frailty significantly decreased in the EX+NU group (P=0.013) compared with that of the HE group (P=0.088). There was significant improvement in leg strength in both the EX (P=0.012) and EX+NU groups (P=0.003) compared with that of the HE group (EX, P=0.005; EX+NU, P=0.002). The nutritional intake significantly decreased in the EX group compared with that of the HE group (P<0.05, P<0.05). [Conclusion] The combination of elastic exercises and nutrition education had positive effects on frailty and leg strength, while having negative effects on total calories, carbohydrate, sodium, and iron intake in elderly women. Elastic exercises only had positive effects on leg strength while having negative effects on nutritional intake in elderly women.
