Objectives : In this study, we investigated the cytoprotective effect of Eriobotrya japonica L. (EJ) extract against Arachidonic acid (AA)+iron-induced oxidative stress. Methods : To confirm the cytoprotective effect of EJ against AA+iron-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells, it was evaluated by MTT assay, immunoblot anaylsis, and Calcein-AM/propidium iodide (PI) staining. Additionally, the mechanism of action of the cytoprotective effect was evaluated through molecular mechanisms. Results : EJ (100 ㎍/mL) inhibited Arachidonic acid (AA)+iron-induced cell death in a concentration-dependent manner. It also inhibited AA+iron-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and ROS production. EJ activated the LKB1-AMPK signaling pathway. Conclusions : In conclusion, EJ has the ability to protect liver cells from oxidative stress, indicating that it is related to AMPK-LKB1 signaling pathways.

Recently, interests in the 4th industry have increased the level of demand for pest control by farmers in the field of rice farming, and the interests and use of agricultural pest control drones. Therefore, the diversification of agricultural control drones that spray high-concentration pesticides and the increase of agricultural exterminators due to the acquisition of national drone certifications are rapidly developing the agricultural sector in the drone industry. In addition, as detailed projects, an effective platform is required to construct large-scale big data due to pesticide management, exterminator management, precise spraying, pest control work volume classification, settlement, soil management, prediction and monitoring of damages by pests, etc. and to process the data. However, studies in South Korea and other countries on development of models and programs to integrate and process the big data such as data analysis algorithms, image analysis algorithms, growth management algorithms, AI algorithms, etc. are insufficient. This paper proposed an online drone pest control management information platform to meet the needs of managers and farmers in the agricultural field and to realize precise AI pest control based on the agricultural drone pest control processor using drones and presented foundation for development of a comprehensive management system through empirical experiments.
Pre- and post-emergent control of Aneilema keisak was investigated in no-till paddy fields. In addition, a pot trial was conducted to determine use rates of the experimental post-emergent herbicide LGC40863. For pre-emergent control, butachlor(1,800g ai/ha), pretilachlor(600g ai/ha), pretilachlor plus pyrazosulfuron(300+18g ai/ha, respectively), thiobencarb plus bensulfuron(2,100+51g ai/ha, respectively), and molinate plus pyrazosulfuron(1,500+21g ai/ha, repectively) were treated at 20 days before seeding. Among the herbicides, molinate plus pyrazosulfuron was the least effective (23% control), while all other herbicides provided excellent(>95%) control of A. keisak. None of these herbicides caused rice phytotoxicity. However, rice yield in the plot treated with molinate plus pyrazosulfuron decreased about 50% due to poor A. keisak control. LGC40863 controlled A. keisak completely, by foliar application, across wide growth stages from the 5- to 15-leaf at 50g ai/ha in pot tests. In the field, treatment of LGC40863(30 to 50g ai/ha) provided >95% control of A. keisak when treated either at 15 days after transplanting or at non-productive tillering stage. Efficacy of 2,4-D and bentazon was insufficient when treated at non-productive tillering stage. These results suggest that, in no-till paddy fields, A. keisak is controlled by pre-emergent application of butachlor, pretilachlor, pretilachlor plus pyrazosulfuron, or thiobencarb plus bensulfuron, and by post-emergent application of LGC40863.

Objectives : This study induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells by treating them with AA+iron and investigated the effects of forsythia suspensa extract on this stress, as well as elucidated the molecular mechanisms underlying its hepatoprotective effects. Methods : To confirm the antioxidative effects of FSE, HepG2 cells were induced with AA+iron to induce oxidative stress, followed by MTT assay. Additionally, the effect of FSE in reducing the increased ROS levels and mitochondrial damage induced by AA+iron in HepG2 cells was confirmed using FACS. Furthermore, western blot analysis were conducted to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the hepatoprotective effects of FSE. Results : FSE increased the decreased cell viability induced by AA+iron. Additionally, FSE normalized the expression of apoptosis-related proteins induced by AA+iron. The elevated ROS levels in HepG2 cells induced by AA+iron were reduced by FSE, and the increase in Rh123-negative cells induced by AA+iron was attenuated by FSE. Moreover, FSE activated the protein expression of AMPK and its related phosphorylating enzymes, LKB1 and ACC. Furthermore, FSE activated YAP and its upstream phosphorylating enzyme, LATS1. Conclusions : These results demonstrate that FSE has an inhibitory effect on oxidative stress induced by AA+iron and may have potential hepatoprotective effects.
Greenhouse study was undertaken to find tank-mix feasibility of quinclorac with molinate and propanil, selective post-emergence herbicides in controlling barnyardgrass, for reducing the application rate of quinclorac. Following foliar application in combination of quinclorac at 0.038, 0.075, 0.150, and 0.300kg ai/ha with molinate at 0.190, 0.380, 0.750 and 1.500kg ai/ha, and propanil at 0.263, 0.525, 1.050, and 2.100kg ai/ha at 3.5-leaf stage of barnyardgrass, fresh weight and weeding efficacy and their interaction by Colby's efficacy method were evaluated. Percent inhibition of barnyardgrass growth by quinclorac, molinate and propanil at recommended rate were 78.1, 26.1, and 61.7%, respectively. The dose combination shown above 85% in weeding efficacy were from 0.300kg of quinclorac with 0.75kg of molinate and 0.150kg of quinclorac with all rates of propanil. Therefore, combination of quinclorac with molinate tended to additive interaction and that of quinclorac with propanil appeared partially synergistic interaction. Conclusively, for reducing the application rate of quinclorac, the combination of quinclorac with propanil was more synergistic than that of quinclorac with molinate.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of oxadiazon, molinate, thiobencarb before seeding on control of red rice and barnyardgrass in water-seeded rice. High application rate plot among oxadiazon treatment plots could observe phytotoxicity symptoms depending on field conditions, but these injury recovered gradually with time. Molinate and thiobencarb application plots at the concentration of 225~400, 210~420g ai/l0a respectively were not observed phytotoxicity. Control of red rice was different according to kinds of herbicides and application rates. Oxadiazon showed higher control performance at the concentration of more than 60g ai/10a. Control effect of molinate and thiobencarb against red rice was enhanced with the increase of application rate, and both herbicides showed satisfactory effect at more than 300g ai/10a. Control of barnyardgrass showed up to 90~100% in all tested herbicides. There was no significant yield reduction by oxadiazon, molinate, and thiobencarb application before seeding in all tested field. In the pot experiment, crop injury, seedling stand, and early growth were more advantageous at time of drainge after one day after seeding than flooding until rooting.
Herbicidal activities of newly synthesized experimental compound, KSC-13906 [Erythro N-{(4,6-dimethoxy pyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbgnyl}-2-(2-fluoro-1- hydroxy-n-propyl)benzenesulfonamide, US Patent 5,461,025], were investigated in greenhouse and field for development as a paddy herbicide. KSC-13906 exihibited excellent weeding effects and selectivity to rice under submerged paddy condition in geenhouse. At the application rate of $2.5{\sim}5$ g ai/ha treated on surface of water, KSC-13906 effectively controlled three annual weeds such as Echinochloa crus-galli var. oryzicola. Scirpus juncoides, and Monochoria vaginalis as well as five perennial weeds such as Cyperus serotinus, Sagittaria pygmaea, Eleocharis kuroguwai, Potamogeton distinctus, and S. trifolia. However, there was no effect on Aneilema keisak and Lindernia procumbens. Especially, KSC-13906 effectively controlled Echinochloa crus-galli var. oryzicola at growth stages ranging from pre-emergence to 3-leaf stage. Antagonistic interaction was found between pyrazosulfuron-ethyl and mefenacet, but not between KSC-13906 ana mefenacet. KSC-13906 had high selectivity to transplanted rice, but caused phytotoxic effect on direct-seeded rice when treated before 3-leaf stage. Herbicidal activity of KSC-13906 on the Echinochloa crus-galli var. oryzicola was 7-folds greater than that of pyrazosulfuron-ethyl in terms of relative dose ratio of the herbicides. These results suggest that KSC-13906 possesses selective herbicidal potency in rice.
The potential as natural herbicide of d-limonene natural agent was conducted on several weeds in a greenhouse and Sciyos angulatus in field condition. Herbicidal activity of foliar application at a concentration of 100 and 200 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ of d-limonene on seven weed species was completely killed in a greenhouse condition. Also, d-limonene at a concentration of 50 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ was completely killing on Abutilon theophrasti, Aeschynomene indica, Echinochloa crus-galli and Digitaria ciliaris 3 days after treatment. While pre-emergence treatment of d-limonene concentration of 12.5 to 200 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ showed not significant visible damages. Phytotoxic symptoms of d-limonene by foliar treatment were characterized by wilting and burn-down of leaves and stems followed by discoloration, finally, plant death. Crop selectivity at d-limonene concentration of 100 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ over to five main crops including Zea mays by foliar application was not at all. Field trial of foliar treatment with d-limonene 70 to 140 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ have effectively controled over 5~20 leaf stages of S. angulatus at the natural habitats. And herbicidal efficacy of foliar application on S. angulatus with carrier volume in field condition was increased with dose dependent manners. These results suggest that d-limonene is considered possible as herbicide, and may be further optimized for natural agent for environmental friendly natural herbicide.
This experiment was carried out to select some herbicides for edible wild greens, Album monanthum, Petasites japonicus, and Aster scaber. The herbicides tested were napropamide 21.8% EC, nitralin 50% WP, and pendimethalin 31.7% EC. Dorminant weeds in the field were Echinochloa crus-galli, Digitaria sanguinalis, Persicaria hydropiper, Chenopodium album, and Siegesbeckia pubescens. Simpson's index was calculated to 0.26~0.30, which showed that weed occurrence in the field was quite various. Control efficacy in the field treated with napropamide EC 872g(ai/ha)., nitralin WP 1,000g(ai/ha), and pendimethalin EC 634g(ai/ha) were 81.4%~85.6%, 79.4%~82.8%, and 86.8%~92.2%, respectively. The typical phytotoxic symptoms to herbicides were germination inhibition, growth retardation, and malformation.
