Axially functionally graded (AFG) beams are a new class of composite structures that have continuous variations in material and/or geometrical parameters along the axial direction. In this study, the exact analytical solutions for the free vibration of AFG and uniform beams with general elastic supports are obtained by using Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The elastic supports are modeled with linear rotational and lateral translational springs. Moreover, the material and/or geometrical properties of the AFG beams are assumed to vary continuously and together along the length of the beam according to the power-law forms. Accordingly, the accuracy, efficiency and capability of the proposed formulations are demonstrated by comparing the responses of the numerical examples with the available solutions. In the following, the effects of the elastic end restraints and AFG parameters, namely, gradient index and gradient coefficient, on the values of the first three natural frequencies of the AFG and uniform beams are investigated comprehensively. The analytical solutions are presented in tabular and graphical forms and can be used as the benchmark solutions. Furthermore, the results presented herein can be utilized for design of inhomogeneous beams with various supporting conditions.

The free transverse vibrations of axially functionally graded (AFG) cantilever beams with concentrated masses attached at different points are studied in this paper. The material properties of the AFG beam, consisting of metal and ceramic, vary continuously in the axial direction according to an established law form. Approximated solutions for the title problem are obtained by means of the Ritz Method. The influence of the material variation on the natural frequencies of vibration of the functionally graded beam is investigated and compared with the influence of the variation of the cross section. The phenomenon of dynamic stiffening of beams can be observed in various situations. The accuracy of the procedure is verified through results available in the literature that can be represented by the model under study.
The nonlinear dynamic behavior of a nonuniform small-scale nonlocal beam is investigated in this work. The nanobeam is theoretically modeled using the nonlocal Eringen theory, as well as a few of Von-nonlinear Kármán's theories and the classical beam theory. The Hamilton principle extracts partial differential equations (PDE) of an axially functionally graded (AFG) nano-scale beam consisting of SUS304 and Si3N4 throughout its length, and an elastic Winkler-Pasternak substrate supports the tapered AFG nanobeam. The beam thickness is a function of beam length, and it constantly varies throughout the length of the beam. The numerical solution strategy employs an iteration methodology connected with the generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM) to calculate the nonlinear outcomes. The nonlinear numerical results are presented in detail to examine the impact of various parameters such as nonlinear amplitude, nonlocal parameter, the component of the elastic foundation, rate of cross-section change, and volume fraction parameter on the linear and nonlinear free vibration characteristics of AFG nanobeam.
In presented paper, moving load problem of simply supported axially functionally graded (AFG) beam is investigated under temperature rising based on the first shear beam theory. The material properties of beam vary along the axial direction. Material properties of the beam are considered as temperature-dependent. The governing equations of problem are derived by using the Lagrange procedure. In the solution of the problem the Ritz method is used and algebraic polynomials are used with the trivial functions for the Ritz method. In the solution of the moving load problem, the Newmark average acceleration method is used in the time history. In the numerical examples, the effects of material graduation, temperature rising and velocity of moving load on the dynamic responses ofAFG beam are presented and discussed.
In this paper, the problem of static bending of axially functionally graded (AFG) nanobeam is formulated with the local stress(Lσ)- and strain-driven(εD) two-phase local/nonlocal integral models (TPNIMs). The novelty of the present study aims to compare the size-effects of nonlocal integral models on bending deflections of AFG Euler-Bernoulli nano-beams. The integral relation between strain and nonlocal stress components based on two types nonlocal integral models is transformed unitedly and equivalently into differential form with constitutive boundary conditions. Purely LσD- and εD-NIMs would lead to ill-posed mathematical formulation, and Purely εD- and LσD-nonlocal differential models (NDM) may result in inconsistent size-dependent bending responses. The general differential quadrature method is applied to obtain the numerical results for bending deflection and moment of AFG nanobeam subjected to different boundary and loading conditions. The influence of AFG index, nonlocal models, and nonlocal parameters on the bending deflections of AFG Euler-Bernoulli nanobeams is investigated numerically. A consistent softening effects can be obtained for both LσD- and εD-TPNIMs. The results from current work may provide useful guidelines for designing and optimizing AFG Euler-Bernoulli beam based nano instruments.

In this paper is studied the effect of considering the theory of Timoshenko in the vibration of AFG beams that support ground masses. As it is known, Timoshenko theory takes into account the shear deformation and the rotational inertia, provides more accurate results in the general study of beams and is mandatory in the case of high frequencies or non-slender beams. The Rayleigh-Ritz Method is employed to obtain approximated solutions of the problem. The accuracy of the procedure is verified through results available in the literature that can be represented by the model under study. The incidence of the Timoshenko theory is analyzed for different cases of beam slenderness, variation of its cross section and compositions of its constituent material, as well as different amounts and positions of the attached masses.
Nonlinear internal modals interactions analysis of axially functionally graded nanorods is evaluated on the basis of nonlocal elasticity theory and Rayleigh beam model for the first time. Functionally graded materials can be determined as nonhomogeneous composites which are obtained by combining of two various materials in order to get a new ideal material. In this research, material properties of nanorods are supposed to be calmly varied along the axial direction. Hamilton's principle is used to derive the equations with consideration of Von-Kármán's geometrically nonlinearity. Harmonic Differential Quadrature (HDQ) and Multiple Scale (MS) solution techniques are used to derive an approximate-analytic solution to the linear and nonlinear free axial vibration problem of non-classical nanorods for clamped-clamped and clamped-free boundary conditions. A parametric study is carried out to indicate the effects of index of AFG, aspect ratio, mode number, internal resonances and nonlinear amplitude on nonlinear nonlocal frequencies of axially functionally graded nanorods. Also, the effects of nonlocal and nonlinear coefficients and AFG index on relationships of internal resonances have been investigated. The presented theatrical-semi analytical model has the ability to predict very suitable results for extracting the internal modal interactions in the AFG nanorod.
In the present paper, the numerical dynamic analysis of a functionally graded nano-scale nonuniform tube was investigated according to the high-order beam theory coupled with the nonlocal gradient strain theory. The supposed cross-section is changed along the pipe length, and the material distribution, which combines both metal and ceramics, is smoothly changed in the pipe length direction, which is called axially functionally graded (AFG) pipe. Moreover, the porosity voids are dispersed in the cross-section and the radial pattern that the existence of both material distribution along the tube length and porosity voids make a two-dimensional functionally graded (2D-FG) truncated conical pipe. On the basis of the Hamilton principle, the governing equations and the associated boundary conditions equations are derived, and then a numerical approach is applied to solve the obtained equations.
In the present study, free vibration of an axially functionally graded (AFG) pile embedded in Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation is analyzed within the framework of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The material properties of the pile vary continuously in the axial direction according to the power-law form. The frequency equation is obtained by using Lagrange's equations. The unknown functions denoting the transverse deflections of the AFG pile is expressed in modal form. In this study, the effects of material variations, the parameters of the elastic foundation on the fundamental frequencies are examined. It is believed that the tabulated results will be a reference with which other researchers can compare their results.

Purpose: This study aimed to quantify the influence of tooth position within the field-of-view (FOV) on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging artifacts' intensity when assessing teeth restored with various intracanal materials. Materials and Methods: Seventy single-rooted teeth were divided into 7 groups (10 teeth per group): NiCr post (NC), AgPd post (AP), metal core fiberglass post (MCFG), fiberglass post (FG), anatomical fiberglass post (AFG), fiberglass post cemented with core build-up cement (FGCo), and anatomical fiberglass post cemented with core build-up cement (AFGCo). All posts were cemented using a regular dual-curing resin cement (Allcem), except FGCo and AFGCo which were cemented with a core build-up dual-curing resin cement (AllcemCore). Each tooth was scanned on a CS9000 in 5 positions within the FOV: a central position, anterior horizontal peripheral, peripheral superior, peripheral inferior, and posterior horizontal peripheral position. Hyperdense, hypodense, remaining teeth areas and ROI areas were quantitatively analyzed using ImageJ software. Results: Posterior horizontal peripheral position increased the intensity of artifacts on FGCo and AFGCo post groups (P<0.05), and specifically the hypodense artifact intensity on FG and AFG post groups (P<0.05). NC and AP groups presented greater intensity of artifacts than any other post groups(P<0.05). Conclusion: Artifact intensity increases in the presence of high atomic number materials and when the object is not centered within the FOV. The impact of positioning within the FOV on artifact was greater for fiberglass posts cemented with core build-up dual-curing cement than for metal posts and fiberglass posts cemented with regular dual-curing cement.
