Objectives: Samul-tang is commonly used to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy. This study aimed to establish an efficient method of extracting ACTS002 based on Samul-tang using the yield, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and antioxidant assay. Methods: ACTS002 was extracted from each extraction solvent, and the contents of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (5-HMF), paeoniflorin, and ferulic acid were quantitatively analyzed and compared using HPLC. Moreover, the antioxidant activities of ACTS002 were measured using total flavonoids, total phenolic compounds, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS), and Ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP). Results: All of the components were set as the index contents because they were easy to process. The antioxidant activity of total flavonoids was the highest in 70% ethyl alcohol extracts, and total phenolic compounds were the highest in 50% ethyl alcohol extracts. In DPPH, 50% ethyl alcohol extracts showed the highest activity, and in ABTS 70% ethyl alcohol extracts were the highest. In FRAP, 70% ethyl alcohol extracts showed the highest activity. Conclusions: ACTS002 can control quality by setting 5-HMF, paeoniflorin, and ferulic acid as the index contents. The antioxidant activity measurement was relatively high in the 50% and 70% ethyl alcohol extracts. Our results can predict the possibility of a pharmacological activity and the standardization of ACTS002.

This study was performed to evaluate effects of pH and heavy metals on soil pollution in 167 sites of Gangwon-do. The overall pH range of soils was 4.3~8.4 The average soil pollution of Cd was 0.089 mg/kg (0.000~3.493 mg/kg), Cu 3.093 mg/kg (0.078~60.263 mg/kg), Pb 4.74 mg/kg (0.01~38.08 mg/kg), Hg 0.054 mg/kg (0.002~1.050 mg/kg), and As 0.971 mg/kg (0.031~77.051 mg/kg), but $Cr^{6+}$ was not detected in these soils. The average concentration of heavy metals in these soils was acceptable under the preliminary standard of soil preservation acts in Korea.

Laodiceanism is the blueprint from which Hardy draws one of his most ingenuous effects: the creating of a Laodicean around which the novel constructs its ambiguity. Hardy's command of "ingenuity" joins both the leading heroine Paula and the minor character Dare into the same category of a Laodicean. Alongside Paula, Dare is the most important ingredient in the novel in that he acts as an enigmatic persona defying the reader's attempts to establish a coherent type. This paper aims to offer a close reading of Dare's life story, which is chosen for discussion as he has been deemed as a simple functionary and thus apparently escaped serious critical notice thus far. It is stressed that the structure of sensations Dare embodies is fascinating in the sense that it is a locus where the coexistence of both meaning and nonmeaning would not amount to harmonious peace or stability so much as permits the impossibility of single and central significance. In this coexistence is inscribed a notion that the binaries in opposition are endlessly inter-mingled in dialogic tension, which is the hallmark of Laodiceanism that Hardy aims to present through the creation of Dare.

In this study, it was studied whether a new measurement factor "frictional vibration" that occurs due to the material flow of the die and sheet metal in the flange area during deep drawing process, could be measured using an vibration sensor. The blank holder force acting on the flange area during drawing processing acts as a friction force in the opposite direction into which the sheet material flows and causes friction vibration. As the blank holder force increases, the friction force increases, and as the blank holder force decreases, the friction force also decreases. Because of this, friction vibration also increases and decreases in proportion to the size of the blank holder force. According to this theory, whether frictional vibration occurs was measured using a flange simulator and a vibration sensor. The initial pressure was created using a torque wrench, and it was confirmed that the amplitude increased by about 4 times when torque 6 Nm was increased. When the forming velocity was rapidly changed to 300 mm/min, the amplitude increased approximately 4 times. It was confirmed that the amplitude of frictional vibration according to the measurement location was greater the further away from the specimen. It was verified that a new measurement factor "friction vibration" in the flange area can be measured and used for online monitoring.

ERCC2 is an essential component of the nucleotide excision repair pathway which is involved in the effective maintenance of genome integrity. Association studies on ERCC2 polymorphisms and glioma risk have yielded inconclusive results. This meta-analysis was performed to gain a better insight into the relationship between ERCC2 polymorphisms and glioma risk. A systematic literature search updated to December 2, 2013 was performed in the Pubmed and EMBASE databases. Crude pooled odds ratios (ORs) with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were used to estimate the association between ERCC2 polymorphisms and glioma risk under a suitable effect model according to heterogeneity. All analyses were performed using Review Manager 5 (version 5.2) and STATA (version 12.0). The combined results demonstrated rs13181 to be significantly associated with glioma risk (G allele versus T allele: OR=1.15, 95% CI=1.05-1.26, P=0.002; dominant model: OR=1.22, 95% CI=1.07-1.39, P=0.002; recessive model: OR=1.18, 95% CI=0.98-1.41, P=0.070). We also found that rs13181 acts in an allele dose-dependent manner (GG versus TT: OR=1.30, 95% CI=1.07-1.57, P=0.009; TG versus TT: OR=1.20, 95%=CI 1.05-1.37, P=0.009; trend test, P=0.004). However, no evidence was found in analyses for the association between other 3 ERCC2 polymorphisms (rs238406, rs1799793, and rs1052555) and susceptibility to glioma development. Our meta-analysis suggests that rs13181 is significantly associated with glioma risk in an allele dose-dependent manner, whereas, 3 other ERCC2 polymorphisms (rs238406, rs1799793, and rs1052555) may have no influence.

Simultaneous mobility reduction of explosives and heavy metals in an operational range by monopotassium phosphate (MKP) and bentonite spreading technology was investigated. Potassium ion and phosphate ion in MKP act as explosives sorption enhancer and insoluble heavy metal phosphate formation, respectively, while bentonite acts as the explosives adsorbent. Then, the decrease in surface water concentration of the pollutants and resulting risk reduction for local residents of the operational range, by MKP/bentonite application was estimated. Under untreated scenario, the noncancer hazard index (HI) exceeded unity on February, July and August, mainly due to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT); however, MKP/bentonite treatment was expected to lower the noncancer hazard index by decreasing the surface water concentration of explosives and heavy metals (especially TNT). For example, on July, estimated surface water concentration and HI of TNT were 0.01 mg/L and 1.1, respectively, meanwhile the sorption coefficient of TNT was 3.9 mg¹⁻ⁿkg⁻¹Lⁿ. However, by MKP/bentonite treatment, the TNT sorption coefficient increased to 113.8 mg¹⁻ⁿkg⁻¹Lⁿ and the surface water concentration and HI decreased to about 0.002 mg/L and 0.2, respectively. Based on the result, it can be concluded that MKP/bentonite spreading is a benign technology that can mitigate the risk posed by the pollutants migration from operational ranges.

In this paper, a multi-hop transmission protocol based on parallel communication of secondary users (SUs) is proposed. The primary multi-hop network coexists with a set of SUs by cooperative spectrum sharing. The main optimization target of our protocol is the overall performance of the secondary system with the guarantee of the primary outage performance. The energy consumption of the primary system is reduced by the cooperation of SUs. The aim of the primary source is to communicate with the primary destination via a number of primary relays. SUs may serve as extra decode-and-forward relays for the primary network. When an SU acts as a relay for a primary user (PU), some other SUs that satisfy the condition for parallel communication are selected to simultaneously access the primary spectrum for secondary transmissions. For the proposed protocol, two opportunistic routing strategies are proposed, and a search algorithm to select the SUs for parallel communication is described. The throughput of the SUs and the PU is illustrated. Numerical results demonstrate that the average throughput of the SUs is greatly improved, and the end-to-end throughput of the PU is slightly increased in the proposed protocol when there are more than seven SUs.

Background and Aim : Health care and cosmetics as well as quality of life is now a matter of concern and many categories of complementary and alternative medicine fall into the territory of the medical practice of Korean medicine. Accordingly, penalties are being taken for unlicensed medical practices of Korean medicine in so called complementary and alternative medicine area. There is a possibility of violating the law for the public part because it is not clearly stipulated in the law as to what is a licensed medical practice. Materials and Method : The significance of the Medical Service Act and the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Public Health Crimes were reviewed, and the related supreme court cases were discussed upon the legal aspect of processing the unlicensed medical practice of Korean medicine. The legal information was provided from the National Law Information Center of the Ministry of Government Legislation, and the information websites of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. Results : The concept of medical practice, which is essential in judging the case of unlicensed medical practice, is 'prevention and treatment of diseases through diagnosis, examination, prescribing, medication, or surgical procedures based on medical expertise', and the 'acts that may result in harm and injury of health unless performed by a medical person'. With respect to the medical practice of Korean medicine, the concept includes 'prevention and treatment of diseases using the principle of traditional Korean Medicine'. Conclusions : The concept of medical practice should be clearly stipulated in the law for the control over the unlicensed medical practices of Korean medicine. And it is important to move from the current concept of medical person-oriented medical practice emerging from the national system of healthcare control, to a concept that can accept the era of health managing-oriented medical environment and the co-governance of the healthcare providers and consumers for the future.

Autonomic nervous system (ANS) acts as a control system functioning largely below the level of consciousness, and controls visceral functions. The activity of the ANS has been assessed by means of the heart rate variability (HRV). It has been reported that HRV is dependent on sex, age, body mass index, and smoking, etc. However, the effects of posture and sleep deprivation on HRV have rarely been reported. Objective of our work was to find out which posture is appropriate for stable HRV. We measured the number of sleep deprivation and HRV using power spectrum in six stages for 30 minutes. Increased low frequency (LF) power and high frequency (HF) power indicate enhanced sympathetic and parasympathetic activity, respectively. We determined the LF/HF ratio to minimize individual difference. It was found that sleep deprivation by awakening up subjects was affected by posture, which resulted in changes of LF/HF. Although LF/HF varied with time, it was more stable in sitting than in supine. In conclusion, we recommend sitting posture when measuring HRV because of less sleep deprivation resulting in less variation in LF/HF.

The usage of appropriate disinfectants is essential for infection control in dental hospitals, dental clinics. Inadequate use of disinfectants is the cause of human or environmental toxicity and is a waste of cost. This study was aimed to assess the level of knowledge on the disinfection and chemical disinfectants among dental workers in dental hospitals, dental clinics. It's ultimately intended to serve as a basis for the preparation of more effective, appropriate educational programs on the disinfection and manuals on the use of disinfectants for dental workers. This study enforced a questionnaire with 184 dental workers employed in dental hospitals, dental clinics from 15 Aug. to 15 Sep. 2007, in the area of Daejeon. The obtained result were as follows; 1. The population sociological feature of dental hospital and dental clinic showed that significant differences of dental service career(pM0.039). Dental service career of dental workers shows; below 3 years 42.9%, 4~6 years 34.7%, more than 7 years 22.4% in dental hospitals, below 3 years 30.4%, 4~6 years 26.7%, more than 7 years 43.0% in dental clinics(pM0.039). 2. The average score of dental workers knowledge in 'Critical item soaks in high-level disinfectants for 20minutes was 2.73V0.49 point, got from knowledge of dental instrument is appropriate to immerse before sterilization in the dental device disinfection(pM0.002). 3. In the general disinfection which it follows in education experience of chemical disinfectants direction for use, 'Direction for use by Spaulding process classification' responded that the correct answer was the education experience dental workers 60.0%, the education non-experience dental workers 39.5%(p=0.026). 4. In the dental device disinfection which it follows in education experience of chemical disinfectants direction for use. 'High level disinfection is not applied for the non-critical items and equipment' responded that the education experience dental workers 49.2%, the education non-experience dental workers 31.9%(pM0.045), 'Semi-critical items is applied same method in presence of the infection disease which it acts responded that the education experience dental workers 44.6% answer back, the education non-experience dental workers 24.4%(pM0.017). 5. 'A hand disinfectants of anticeptics have effect' the education experience dental workers 78.5% answer back, the education non-experience dental workers 52.9%(pM0.003). 1t uses with hand disinfectants when the instruments which be imbrued and patient contact', the education experience dental workers 78.5% answer back, the education non-experience dental workers 62.2%(pM0.026), 'Boric acid solution uses for the skin disinfectants the education experience dental workers 52.3% answer back, the education non-experience dental workers is 37.0%(pM0.016), 'Gluconate have effective difference which it follows in chemical disinfectant consistency and the solution type' education experience dental workers 72.3% answer back, education non-experience dental workers 47.9%(pM0.004). 6. The education experience dental workers were appeared higher than the education non-experience dental workers in knowledge of the disinfection and chemical disinfectants. Consequently system and the specialty education which is standardized continuously must be provided to all dental workers.
