  • This paper presents a solution that an analytical model for an induction motor and the formula of regenerative power and instantaneous torque are derived. based on the spiral vector. The torque is controlled linearly through variations of the slip angular velocity, based on the field acceleration method (FAM). And also PWM inverter fed induction motor drives is schemed to be easily a regenerative drive. The voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives that regenerative power occurs with back current type is presented, to easily controlled the feedback power and to proper the adaption of energy shaving drives. The experimental tests verify the performance of the FAM, proving that food behavior of the drive is achieved in the transient and steady state operating condition, and are discussed to save the power that regenerative power is measured at the operating acceleration or deceleration of servo system.

  • A modeling method for the modal analysis of a composite trapezoidal plate undergoing in-plane translational acceleration is presented in this paper. The equations of motion for the plate are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. The effects of the inclination angles, fiber orientation angle and the acceleration on the modal characteristics of the plate are investigated.

  • This article presents a new acceleration/deceleration method for real-time control of autonomous mobile robots. In this method, a function which produces the table of acceleration/deceleration in real-time is proposed. This function, while sat- isfying the basic concept of mechanics, can choose both various ranges of velocity and distance ranges for the selected velocities. Moreover it can control motors in real time. This function is convenient to be realized by programming. In addi- tion, it is faster than other functions because it can be written by assembly language.

  • Effect of a particle's spin is investigated numerically by considering the effect of lift occurring due to difference of rotations of a particle and of fluid such as the Saffman lift and Magnus force. These lift forces have been neglected in many previous works on particle-laden turbulence. The trajectory of particles can be changed by the lift forces, resulting in significant modification of the stochastic characteristics of heavy particles. Probability density functions and autocorrelations are examined of velocity, acceleration of solid particle and acceleration of fluid at the position of solid particle. Changes in velocity statistics are negligible but statistics related with acceleration are a little bit changed by particle's rotation. When a laden particle encounters with coherent structures during the motion, the particle's rotation might significantly affects the motion due to intermittently large fluid acceleration near coherent structures.

  • MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) is an alternative to the dark matter paradigm. MOND asserts that when the magnitude of acceleration is smaller than the acceleration parameter $a_0$, the response of the system to gravity is stronger (larger acceleration) than the one given by Newtonian dynamics. The current value of $a_0$ is obtained mostly by observations of spiral galaxies (rotation curves and the Tully-Fisher relation). We attempt to estimate $a_0$ from the dynamics of elliptical galaxies. We seek elliptical galaxies that act as the lens of gravitational lensing systems and have velocity dispersion data available. We analysed 65 Einstein rings from the Sloan Len ACS survey (SLACS). The mass estimates from gravitation lensing and velocity dispersion agree well with each other, and are consistent with the estimates from population synthesis with a Salpeter IMF. The value of $a_0$ obtained from this analysis agrees with the current value.

  • The unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of an aerofoil gradually accelerating or decelerating at subsonic speeds are investigated through two-dimensional, unsteady, compressible Navier-Stokes simulations. An acceleration factor is defined to provide various acceleration or deceleration characters of the time-dependent flow over the aerofoil. The results show that an increase in the absolute value of the non-dimensional acceleration factor leads to a lesser change in the location and range of flow featues such as shockwave and boundary layer separation in a specific time range. Generally, the gradual speed-up and speed-down of the subsonic aerofoil results in different aerodynamic characteristics whose changes are more significant at angles of attack.

  • This Paper is to apply the well-established coarse mesh finite difference(CMFD) method to the method of characteristics(MOC) transport calculation as an acceleration scheme. The CMFD problem is first formulated at the pin-cell level with the multi-group structure To solve the cell- based multi-group CMFD problem efficiently, a two-group CMFD formulation is also derived from the multi-group CMFD formulation. The performance of the CMFD acceleration is examined for three test problems with different sizes including a realistic quarter core PWR problem. The CMFD formulation provides a significant reduction in the number of ray tracings and thus only about 9 ray tracing iterations are enough for the realistic problem. In computing time, the CMFD accelerated case is about two or three times faster than the coarse-mesh rebalancing(CMR) accelerated case.

  • Rubber components are widely used in many application such as vibration isolators, damping, ride quality. Rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for railway vehicle. Characteristics and useful life prediction of rubber spring was very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability. Non-linear properties of rubber material which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber spring. These are determined by physical tests which are uniaxial tension, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear test. The computer simulation was executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for rubber spring. In order to investigate the useful life, the acceleration test were carried out. Acceleration test results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the acceleration test, several useful life prediction for rubber spring were proposed.

  • Shock waves form in the intergalactic medium as a consequence of accretion, merger, and turbulent motion during the structure formation of the universe. They not only heat gas but also govern non-thermal processes through the acceleration of cosmic rays (CRs), production of magnetic fields, and generation of vorticity. We examine diffusive shock acceleration of the pre-existing as well as freshly injected populations of nonthermal, CR particles at weak cosmological shocks. Since the injection is extremely inefficient at weak shocks, the pre-existing CR population dominates over the injected population. If the pressure due to pre-existing CR protons is about 5 % of the gas thermal pressure in the upstream flow, the downstream CR pressure can absorb typically a few to 10 % of the shock ram pressure at shocks with the Mach number M<3. Yet, the re-acceleration of CR electrons can result in a substantial synchrotron emission behind the shock. The implication of our findings for observed bright radio relics is discussed.

  • The GPS receiver developed by KARI for the satellite launch vehicle should operate under severe dynamic environments such as high acceleration and jerk. Several terrestrial tests including the outdoor centrifuge test are planed in order to verify performances of the GPS receiver before flight. This paper deals with preliminary test results of the GPS receiver using a GPS signal generator before the centrifuge test that is a performance test of the GPS receiver using live GPS satellite signals. Test methods of the GPS receiver for the satellite launch vehicle under high centripetal acceleration and jerk utilizing a GPS signal generator are described. The simulation results are also analyzed in this paper.
