AC loss is one of the main research area in AC power application using high temperature superconductor(HTS), such as HTS transformer, HTS current limiter and HTS cable, because it is closely related to efficiency, economic estimation and design of power device. A lot of research for various arrangements of HTS tapes have been performed to increase a capacity of transport current because single HTS tape can not satisfy the demanded current capacity in HTS power application. In this paper, we studied magnetization loss by different several arrangements of BSCCO tapes such as Edge-to-Edge type, Face-to-Face type and Matrix type through numerical analysis by 2D-FEM and measurement. As a result, we got the result that the magnetization loss of Face-to-Face type arrangements was lower than those of other arrangement types under the conditions of the same stacking number. We think that the result was due to shield effect by demagnetization of adjacent HTS tapes which are located face to face.
NZP velocities were investigated on Ag sheathed multi filamentary Bi-2223 tape and direction type HTS cable. The critical current($I_c$) of Ag sheathed Bi-2223 tape and direction type HTS cable were 12 A, 63 A at 77 K, 0 T. NZP velocities of tape with two condition of DC and AC were almost same at each temperature. In case of DC, the NZP velocities of numerical analysis and experiment were almost same. NZP velocities of direction type HTS cable were 1.9-2.4 cm/sec. The result shows that the total transport current of spiral type HTS cable in $LN_2$ was 475[A], and transport current passed through almost the outer layer (2-layer). Also, AC transport losses in outer layer of HTS cable was proportion to $I^2$ and higher than losses of inner layer. And in case of $I_p=I_c$, calculated numerical loss density was concentrated on the edge of tape and most of loss density in cable was distributed outer layer more than inner layer.
Superconducting power cable is one of the most promising energy application of high-T$\sub$2/ superconductor(HTS). Thus we investigated previously the electrical and mechanical characteristics on Bi-2223 Ag sheathed tape. And a prototype HTS cable have been designed constructed and tested. In case of 19-filament type transport losses agree with the results of norris theory(strip). The critical current of HTS cable(1, 19-filament) in LN$_2$was 116[A], 240[A] and degradation coefficient(k) was 0.71, 0.73 respectively. In case of 19-filament cable critical current was decreased because of mechanical strain at pitch. And AC loss of HTS cable(19-filament) was 0.7 [W/m] in 240[A] loading
The estimation of AC losses is demanded for higher efficiency and stability in AC use of superconducting coils. Hysteresis loss occurred by a.c. transport current is called of self field loss, and it is major part of losses generated in a.c. superconducting wire in case of located in low external magnetic field as superconducting transformer with iron core, or in short twist pitch wire, multiply stacking cable. In this paper, we calculate self field loss of superconducting wire.
In this study we investigated ac transport current losses in the face to face stack for the anti-parallel current flow, and compared the electromagnetic properties with those of the single SC tape as well as those of the same stack for the parallel current path. The gap between the SC tapes in the stack varied in order to verify the electromagnetic influence of the neighbors when current flows in opposite direction, and the model was implemented in the finite element method program by the commercial software, COMSOL Multiphysics 4.2a. Conclusively speaking, the loss was remarkably decreased for the anti-parallel current case, which is attributed the magnetic flux compensation between the SC layers due to the opposite direction of the current flows. As the gap between SC tapes was increased, the loss mitigation became less effective. Besides, the current density distribution is very flat cross the sample width for the narrower gap case, which is believed to be benefit for the power electric system. These results are all in good agreement with those predicted theoretically for an infinite bifilar stack.
Superconducting transmission cable is one of interesting part in power application using high temperature super-conducting wire as transformance. One important parameter in HTS cable design is transport current distribution because it is related with current transmission capacity and loss. In this paper, we present the calculation theory of current distribution for multi-layer cable using the electric circuit model and in example, calculation results of current distribution and AC loss in each layer of 4-layer HTS transmission cable.
Superconducting power cable is one of the most promising energy application of high-Tc superconductors (HTS). Thus, we investigated previously the characteristics on electrical and mechanical Bi-2223 Ag sheathed tape. And a prototype HTS cable have been designed, constructed and tested. The result shows that the transport current of HTS cable (1, 19-filament) in LN2 was 116[A], 240[A], respectively. And AC loss of HTS cable(19-filament) was 1.7 [W/m] in 240 [A] loading.
Reduce AC loss is very important in superconductor power machine. And HTS power application are needed an increment of current capacity. in this paper estimate AC loss effect and increase of current according tocomposition stack with 1G wire and 2G wire by measurement. A Method of composition stack are YBCO-BSCCO, YBCO-BSCCO-BSCCO-YBCO and BSCCO-YBCO-YBCO-BSCCO. also, test result compared analytic equation by Norries
We have studied alternating transport current losses in the vertically stacked high temperature superconducting tapes(HTS) using numerical techniques. In the case of stacked conductors, HTS tapes are exposed to self-field generated by transport current itself and also experienced external magnetic field around adjacent tapes. It is well known that magnetic interactions between neighbored tapes have significant effect on their properties of superconducting tapes such as current distribution, AC loss, and critical current. In this paper, we investigated the transport current losses in stacked conductors consisting of a few of the HTS tapes using numerical analysis. Current distributions are calculated in HTS tape cross-section taking account of magnetic field dependencies, which are represented superconducting nonlinear properties. Dissipated losses in tape and stacked conductors were integrated with current distribution and electric field intensity in the whole conductor region. Finally estimated results were discussed and verified through the analytical theory.
High temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable system consists of HTS cable, termination and cryogenic system. And the HTS cable consists of the former, HTS phase conductor, electric insulation, HTS shield and cryostat. Taking the advantage of HTS shield, the cold dielectric has been adopted. The phase conductor and the shield have been designed to minimize the AC loss below 1W/m/phase. The former has been designed to transport the fault current of 25kA, at fault condition. This paper describes the design process of 22.9kV HTS cable considering AC losses at normal state and the stability at fault condition.
