We propose a novel high-definition content watermarking algorithm that is highly feasible in UCC (User Created Contents) environment. We begin by addressing an association between broadcasting content and UCC in a view of copyrights, then present watermark requirements by analyzing various UCC editing-effect. Also, we provide a brief review of previous watermarking techniques that are supposed to satisfy the requirements. Our proposed scheme inserts a invisible watermark into both DC and AC components on $8{\times}8$ block DCT domain and extracts them after synchronization using DC image. Experimental results show that our technique satisfies the requirements of invisibility and robustness to a variety of attacks such as rotation, scaling, cropping, and JPEG compression, etc. Note that the proposed scheme is highly resilient to UCC edit attacks that are combined by many different types of watermark attacks.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplement of Alisma canaliculatum and Viscum album on the growth performance and immune response of broiler chickens. One hundred and forty Ross broiler chicks (1 day old) were assigned to 4 treatments in 5 replications with 7 birds per replication. The dietary treatments were NC group (without antibiotics), PC group (basal + 50 ppm Oxytetracycline), AC group (basal + Alisma canaliculatum 0.5%), and VA group (basal + Viscum album 0.5%). The results revealed that body weight gain and feed intake were not significantly different among the treatments. Addition of AC to the diet showed significantly higher feed conversion ratios than the VA addition diet and other treatments (p<0.05). The concentration of linolenic acid, ${\alpha}$-linolenic acid and arachidonic acid in the AC and VA treatment were relatively higher than that in the antibiotic treatment, while there was no difference in the concentration of SFA, USFA, and USFA/SFA. The serum IgG concentration in chickens tended to increase in the AC and VA treatment groups compared to NC group. The IL2 concentration in AC and VA groups was significantly higher than in other group (p<0.05). IL6 was not detected, however. GOT, GPT, and T-billirubin in the VA group were significantly higher than in other groups (p<0.05). Thus, the VA additives can result in the damage of liver and kidney. In conclusion, the dietary supplement of a 0.5% of AC and VA showed a similar growth performance and increased immunity response comparable to supplementing a 50 ppm Oxytetracycline. Therefore, it can be said that the AC and VA are possible alternates of antibiotics.

This paper proposes a modeling method and operating algorithm of an islanding microgrid that is composed of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), wind turbine and diesel generator applied in island areas. Initially, the bilateral AC/DC converter was designed for charge/discharge for frequency and voltage to be maintained within the proper ranges according to the load and weather change, and the operating method was proposed for a diesel generator to operate when power supply from the wind turbine or BESS is insufficient. The proposed modeling and controller design method of BESS was applied to a typical islanded microgrid with a wind turbine and diesel generator. The frequency and voltage was kept within the permissible ranges and the proposed method was proven to be appropriate through simulations.

A rate-distortion based segmentation using recursive merging is presented, which considers texture as a homogeneity by adopting the procedure of a generalized texture approximation. The texture in a region is approximated by SA-DCT and a set of two uniform quantizers with fixed step sizes, one for DC and another for AC. Using the approximated texture, we calculated the rate-distortion based cost. The segmentation using recursive merging is performed by using the rate-distortion based cost. Experimental results for 256$\times$256 Lena show that the region-based coding using the proposed segmentation yields the PSNR improvements of 0.8~ 1.0 dB and 1.2~1.5 dB over that using the rate-distortion based segmentation with DC approximation only and JPEG, respectively.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in non-cognitive factors, specifically achievement goal orientation (AGO) and self-regulated learning (SRL), influencing the academic achievement (AC) of medical and nursing students. 186 students, including 110 medical students and 76 nursing students, completed a survey, which addressed the factors of AGO and SRL. There were significant differences in the factors that affected the academic achievement of medical and nursing students. Multiple regression revealed that the AC of medical students was significantly more affected by mastery-approach AGO (p<0.05), seeking information (p<0.001), and rehearsing/memorizing SRL (p<0.01), while the AC of nursing students was affected by performance-approach AGO, self-efficacy (p<0.001), and time-management SRL. Analysis of variance revealed that significant differences in the sub-factors of AGO and SRL between the medical and nursing students. Thus, it was found that the academic achievement of medical and nursing students was influenced by non-cognitive factors, but there were significant differences in the sub-factors by group. It is suggested that comparative studies with other student groups and a longitudinal study of medical and nursing students need to be conducted, and a personalized counseling and learning intervention focusing on non-cognitive factors should be provided to medical and nursing students.
Cellulosic biomass is a renewable source for biofuel production from non-edible biomass. An optimized pretreatment process is required for the efficient utilization of cellulosic biomass. Among various pretreatment processes, the use of ionic liquids has been reported recently. However, the residual ionic liquid after pretreatment acts as an inhibitor of microbial fermentation. Recently, we isolated mutant Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains resistant to the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([EMIM][Ac]) by using a directed evolutionary approach. When 3% [EMIM][Ac] was added to a medium containing 80 g/l of glucose, mutants D452-B2 and D452-S3 produced 35.6 g/l and 36.3 g/l of ethanol, respectively, for 18 h while the parental strain (S. cerevisiae D452-2) produced 1.3 g/l of ethanol. Thus, these mutant S. cerevisiae strains might prove advantageous when ionic liquids are used for biofuel production from cellulosic biomass.

This paper proposes a method to drive an AC plasma display panel(PDP) with a significantly improved contrast ratio. In the proposed method, during the first sub-field of one frame, all PDP cells are reset by the ramp waveform, and during the other sub-fields, only the cells turned on in the previous sub-field are reset. No light is emitted during the reset period of every sub-field except the first sub-field. For a 10-bit picture, the luminance of the dark level for the proposed method is 10 times lower than that for the conventional method, in which the ramp waveform for the reset is used in every sub-field. Accordingly, the contrast ratio for the proposed method is 10 times higher than that for the conventional method. For the 10-bit picture, the measured contrast ratio was about 3080:1 for the proposed method and about 285:1 for the conventional method, resulting in 10.8 times increase in the contrast ratio. This result shows that the proposed method can realize an image with high contrast ratio.
Background : Mucus hypersecretion in the patients with airway diseases represents poor prognosis as well as discomfort. However, there is no known therapy for its effective control. One important component of mucus is mucin, a glycosylated protein, which endows mucus with viscosity. We studied whether a proteinase has a role in mucin secretion and if so, which. Methods : (1) Inhibition of mucin secretion Group-specific proteinase inhibitors were tested to evaluate whether a proteinase belonging to a group of proteinases plays a role in mucin secretion. Phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride(PMSF, a serine proteinase inhibitor), E-64(a cysteine proteinase inhibitor), Pepstatin(an aspartic proteinase inhibitor) and 1, 10-Phenanthroline(a metalloproteinase inhibitor) were treated into the Calu-3 cell line for 24 hours. The enzyme linked immunoabsorbant assay(ELISA) for MUC5AC was performed to evaluate the amount of mucin secretion and to compare with a control. (2) Stimulation of mucin secretion Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9), MMP-12 and TACE(TNF-alpha converting enzyme), which are known to be related with airway diseases, were used to be treated into Calu-3 for 24 hours. ELISA for MUC5AC was performed to evaluate the amount of mucin secretion and to compare with the controls. Results : (1) PMSF($10^{-4}M$), E-64($10^{-4}M$), Pepstatin($10^{-6}M$) and 1, 10-Phenanthroline($10^{-4}M$) reduced the MUC5AC secretion by $1{\pm}4.9%$(mean${\pm}$standard deviation; P=1.0 compared with the control), $-6{\pm}3.9%$(P=0.34), $-13{\pm}9.7%$(P=0.34) and $41{\pm}8.2%$(P=0.03), respectively. (2) The amounts of MUC5AC secretion stimulated by MMP-9(250ng/ml), MMP-12(100ng/ml) and TACE(200ng/ml) were $103{\pm}6%$(P=0.39), $102{\pm}8%$(P=1.0) and $107{\pm}13%$(P=0.39), respectively, compared with the controls. Conclusion : Metalloproteinase(s) is (are) suggested to play a role in mucin secretion. It appears that metalloproteinases, other than MMP-9, MMP-12 or TACE, affect the mucin secretion in this in vitro model.

The practical applications of ordinary high-fluidity concrete have been limited due to several drawbacks, such as high hydration heat, high amount of shrinkage, and non-economic strength development. On the other hand, due to its advantages, such as improvement of construction quality, reduction of construction cost and period, the development of high-fluidity concrete is a pressing need. This study examined the properties of high-fluidity concrete, which can be manufactured on the low binders using a viscosity agent to prevent the segregation of materials. The optimal viscosity agent was selected by an evaluation of the mechanical properties of high-fluidity concrete among six viscosity agents. The acrylic type and urethane type viscosity agents showed the best performance within the range where no material separation occurred. The mechanical properties were evaluated to examine the optimal amount of AC and UT viscosity agent added by mixing two viscosity agents according to the adding ratio and blending them together with high performance water reducing agent. When the ratio of the AC : UT viscosity agents was 5:5, it was most suited for high-fluidity concrete with low binders by increasing the workability and effect of the reducing viscosity.

In this paper, we suggest a new front panel structure with ridged front panel dielectric layer and hollow gap. The proposed structure can decrease a driving voltage and increase Xe content due to strong electric fields. In the experiment, we have used 6" test panel with 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 30 % and 50 % Xe contents and 450 torr gas pressure. When comparing with a conventional structure in Xe 10 %, the proposed structure with same Xe content decreased a firing and sustain voltage by about 74 V and 79 V, also the luminance and luminous efficacy of proposed structure with 50 % Xe content were improved by about 33 % and 50.9 %..9 %.
