  • ABS material is easy to process, impact resistance and heat resistance is strong. ABS material is often used as a substitute for the interior and exterior metal material for an automobile. As the demand of ABS increases, fabricating education using ABS has also been increasing its importance. As part of its education, ABS material is used in the mold fabricating part of the regional and national skills competition. At this time, the force of the vise for fixing the ABS material in the processing using the ABS material can affect the final shape after machining. However, it has not been an accurate description of the notes and instructions of working in education. Therefore, in this study, we study the impact the force of vise affect structural shape in the fabricating education using ABS material and during fabricating education of ABS material, trying to present the notes of the appropriate it.

  • In this paper, study of vehicle fire cases caused by connector and power wiring of anti-lock brake system(ABS) module damage is presented. The purpose of ABS module is to improve braking and steering ability under sudden stop of the vehicle by repeatedly activating and releasing the brake with electric signal via electric control unit. The electric control unit for ABS may experience incomplete contact between power line and signal line or electrical breakdown on the printed circuit board by undergoing repetitive signal change which would consequently result in electrical heat and spark, eventually leading to automotive fire. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide fundamental data by analyzing connector and power wiring of ABS module damage conducive to the precise investigation on the cause of vehicle fire.

  • Recent studies have discovered that a conventional passive isolation system may suffer from an excessive isolator displacement when subjected to a near-fault earthquake that usually has a long-period velocity pulse waveform. Semi-active isolation using variable friction dampers (VFD), which requires a suitable control law, may provide a solution to this problem. To control the VFD in a semi-active isolation system more efficiently, this paper investigates experimentally the possible use of a control law whose control logic is similar to that of the anti-lock braking systems (ABS) widely used in the automobile industry. This ABS-type controller has the advantages of being simple and easily implemented, because it only requires the measurement of the isolation-layer velocity and does not require system modeling for gain design. Most importantly, it does not interfere with the isolation period, which usually decides the isolation efficiency. In order to verify its feasibility and effectiveness, the ABS-type controller was implemented on a variable-friction isolation system whose slip force is regulated by an embedded piezoelectric actuator, and a seismic simulation test was conducted for this isolation system. The experimental results demonstrate that, as compared to a passive isolation system with various levels of added damping, the semi-active isolation system using the ABS-type controller has the better overall performance when both the far-field and the near-fault earthquakes with different PGA levels are considered.

  • Antilock brake system(ABS) prevent the wheels of road vehicle from locking up and skidding so that the braking force is from static friction instead of kinetic friction. Therefore ABS helps drivers maintain steering control during breaking situation particularly at an emergency stopping situation. So when trying to stop the road vehicle it is best to have the most friction possible for faster deceleration ABS keep the wheels turning which means there is more friction between the tires of vehicles and the road surface. Because of this advantage, ABS are now a commonly installed feature for passenger's safety in road vehicles. In this study, hydraulic system of ABS of vehicle is composed of 3port-2position solenoid valve. In order to minimize ...

  • This paper addresses sliding mode control of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with a disturbance observer for model uncertainties such as vehicle parameter variation, un-modeled dynamics, and external disturbances. By using a nominal vehicle model, a sliding mode controller is designed to achieve a desired wheel slip ratio for ABS control. To compensate the model uncertainties, a disturbance observer is introduced with the help of a transfer function of a hydraulic brake dynamics. A proposed sliding mode controller with a disturbance observer is evaluated through simulations for model uncertainties. The simulation results show that the disturbance observer can enhance performances of sliding mode control for ABS.

  • This paper presents the sliding mode control methods for anti-lock brake system (ABS) with the friction force observer. Using a simplified quarter car model, the sliding mode controller for ABS is designed to track the desired wheel slip ratio. Here, new method to find the desired wheel slip ratio which produces the maximum friction force between road and tire is suggested. The desired wheel slip ratio is varying according road and tire conditions to produce maximum friction force. In order to find optimum desired wheel slip ratio, the sliding mode observer for friction force is used. The proposed sliding mode controller with observer is evaluated in simulation, and the control design is shown to have high performance on roads with constant and varying adhesion coefficients.

  • It is necessary to carry out quantitative analysis for the ABS hydraulic modulator to upgrade the system performances. Mathematical modeling method for the ABS hydraulic modulator, is suggested in the view of electromagnetism and fluid mechanics. Also, an analytic method is proposed for the resultant forces of electromagnetism and hydraulic pressure generated in the real vehicle ABS. The relationships between the design factor of Inlet & outlet solenoid valve and the system performance of ABS, are investigated through the analytical precess.

  • The PC/ABS blends were manufactured with high shear rate processing. Changes of the blend morphology were analyzed according to the screw speed and processing time. To find optimal conditions of the high shear rate processing of the PC/ABS blend, blend morphology and size of the dispersed phase, ABS, were observed with a SEM. Also, tensile properties of the PC/ABS blends were measured to investigate the effect of the high shear rate process with the screw speed of 500 rpm to 3000 rpm for processing times of 10s to 40s. Especially, to observe the dispersed phase of the PC/ABS blend clearly, fracture surfaces of the PC/ABS blend were etched with chromic acid solution. As screw speed and processing time increase, dispersed phase size of the PC/ABS blend decreases and mechanical properties of the blend decrease as well. Especially, at screw speed over than 1000 rpm of high shear rate processing, mechanical properties of the PC/ABS blends decrease drastically due to the degradation of the blend during the high shear rate processing. Consequently, the optimal condition of screw speed of the high shear processing of the PC/ABS blend is set at 1000rpm, in this study. Under optimal condition, the PC/ABS blend has relatively high mechanical properties with the relatively stable micro-structure having nanometer scale dispersed phase.
