  • There seems to have arisen a preference for wearing white clothes amongst Koreans from the long past, even tracing back to the ancient times in tradition of Shamanism worshipping the sun. This "preference" persevered throughout the passage of time, even with the numerous internal and external pressures to forbid or interrupt this tradition. The wearing of White Clothes by Koreans can also be often found in the various records made by foreign visitors recognized as a noticeable phenomenon, and representative of Korea which seems to have influences even until now in the impressions of the country. Despite of this tradition that seems to have lasted over the last 5000 years, all of a sudden it disappeared within the last 50years. In the contemporary modern fashion of Korea, it seems hard to say, Koreans enjoyably sporting White clothes, is a stand out trait anymore, thus the equation of Koreans equivalent to the people of white not a valid stamen anymore. it could not be said that this tradition is representative of the Korean cultural Identity. Why would this be the case? What happened to the long lasted pattern? In what form or shape has this tradition trasnsformed and reappears before us today? This paper seeks to find the answers to these questions.

  • This paper compared and analyzed costume design shown in two movies that was adapted from the same original work, 'Snow White'. One movie consists of a western director and a western designer team while the other movie is shot by an Asian director and an Asian designer team. Two movies show similarity and difference in expression of characters in 'Snow White'. The findings are as followed;- Both movies project an image of modern women, which is mainly represented by active and confident women, However, Ishioka Eiko, the costume designer of < Mirror, Mirror >, created unique costume in the movie by applying splendid and vivid colors to western costume to make exotic feeling. On the other hand, Colleen Atwood, who was inspired by costume in each historic period and region of the Western. created costume that was closer to the tradition of the Western in his movie, < Snow White and the Huntsman >. The purpose of this study is to help the Korean movie industry to find a way to advance to the world market by fully understanding how the Easterners and the Westerners feel and express 'Snow White'. Moreover, this study may present a chance to review importance and value of the movie costume design area.

  • In this paper we first give a simple proof of the analytic characterization theorems of the operator symbols by using the characterization theorem for white noise functionals. We next give a criterion for the convergence of operators on white noise functionals in terms of their symbols and then use this result to give a proof for the Fock expansion theorem of operators on white noise functionals.

  • This paper presents a new security verification technique based on an image encryption by a white noise image that serves as an encryption key. In the proposed method that resembles holographic process, the encryption process is executed digitally using FFT routine which gives chances for separating corruptive noise from reconstructed primary image The encoded image thus obtained is regarded as an nterference pattern caused by two lightwaves transmitted through the primary image and the white noise image. The decoding process is executed optically and in real-tiem fashion where lightwave transmitted through the white noise image illuminates the encrypted card.

  • White-box cryptography presented by Chow et al. is an obfuscation technique for protecting secret keys in software implementations even if an adversary has full access to the implementation of the encryption algorithm and full control over its execution platforms. Despite its practical importance, progress has not been substantial. In fact, it is repeated that as a proposal for a white-box implementation is reported, an attack of lower complexity is soon announced. This is mainly because most cryptanalytic methods target specific implementations, and there is no general attack tool for white-box cryptography. In this paper, we present an analytic toolbox on white-box implementations of the Chow et al.'s style using lookup tables. According to our toolbox, for a substitution-linear transformation cipher on n bits with S-boxes on m bits, the complexity for recovering the $$O\((3n/max(m_Q,m))2^{3max(m_Q,m)}+2min\{(n/m)L^{m+3}2^{2m},\;(n/m)L^32^{3m}+n{\log}L{\cdot}2^{L/2}\}\)$$, where $m_Q$ is the input size of nonlinear encodings,$m_A$ is the minimized block size of linear encodings, and $L=lcm(m_A,m_Q)$. As a result, a white-box implementation in the Chow et al.'s framework has complexity at most $O\(min\{(2^{2m}/m)n^{m+4},\;n{\log}n{\cdot}2^{n/2}\}\)$ which is much less than $2^n$. To overcome this, we introduce an idea that obfuscates two advanced encryption standard (AES)-128 ciphers at once with input/output encoding on 256 bits. To reduce storage, we use a sparse unsplit input encoding. As a result, our white-box AES implementation has up to 110-bit security against our toolbox, close to that of the original cipher. More generally, we may consider a white-box implementation of the t parallel encryption of AES to increase security.

  • This study was carried out to develop the Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards utilizing the relinquished sludges occurring from the making process of Korean classic paper Hanji. The bark of paper mulberry(Broussonetia kazinoki Sieb.) has been used as a raw material since past hundreds and thousands years. Korean paper(Hanji) sludge was divided into two kinds, the one was the white sludge from the first stage and the other was the black sludge occurring from the final stage of Korean paper(Hanji) making. Four levels of the mixed ratio of each white or black sludge to wood fiber(10:90, 20:80, 30:70 and 40:60), three levels of the resin adhesives(PMDI, urea and phenol resin) and three levels of the density(0.60, 0.75 and 0.90) were designed to investigate the mechanical properties of Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards. From the results and discussion, it could be concluded as follows : 1. In the white and black sludge-wood fiber composite boards, bending modulus of rupture showed the clear decreasing tendency according to the increase of sludge additive, but it was clearly increased with the increase of specific gravity. Modulus of elasticity showed the same tendency as in the modulus of rupture, and also tensile and internal bonding strength had the same tendencies as in these bending properties. 2. Among the resin adhesives, PMDI or urea resin showed great values in MOR of white sludge-wood fiber composite board, but urea resin was greater than PMDI in MOR and MOE of black sludge-wood fiber composite board. Tensile and internal bonding strength showed the same tendencies as in white sludge-wood fiber composite board. 3. It is suggested that the white sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with PMDI or black sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with urea resin were able to made similar boards to general fiberboard by the mixed ratio 20:80 of sludge to wood fiber.

  • A new technique for recycling process water was developed in order to reduce the calcium hardness of the closed OCC recycling system. Calcium ions present in the white water were precipitated as calcium carbonate by a reaction with sodium carbonate and the CaCO$_3$precipitates were easily removed from the system by a dissolved air flotation(DAF) method. After the DAF stage, CO$_2$-gas was purged into the water because the pH of Na$_2$CO$_3$-treated white water was reduced to neutral by CO$_2$gas. Since CaCO$_3$precipitate tends to stick onto the fine fiber surface and then is selectively removed from the water, a proper amount of suspended solid in the process water acts as an important factor in deciding the removal efficiency. By the application of Na$_2$CO$_3$addition - DAF - CO$_2$purging to the short circulated white water the calcium hardness was significantly reduced by 92% and more. The removal of calcium ions with fine fibers led to drainage improvement, reduction of fresh water consumption, and enhanced efficiency of wet-end chemicals.

  • This paper analizes two numerical integration methods, both based on the Runge Kutta 4-th order formula for deterministic systems, for digital simulation of a differential equation driven by white noise. It is shown that a "standard' Runge Kutta method for stochasitic systems yields solutions of Stratonovich differential equations, while Riggs and Phillips' method results in solutions of Ito differential equations. Therefore the white noise differential equation must be converted into the equivalent Ito equation before the latter method is used. Digital simulation results for a simple differential equation are also presented.nted.

  • In this paper. we propose a novel auto white balance algorithm which is one of the representative functions on cameras. White balance is the process of removing unrealistic color casts, which will make the captured white objects appear white. For white balance, we employ $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ color space which is the most complete color model available and is conventionally used to describe all the colors visible to the human eye and estimate the color difference on white objects with distribution of the image which is called the reference white estimation. For accuracy, we form groups or sets of pixels that are altered by the light sources and other elements. Moreover, Standard group is decided by judgment of specific-case images with the information of groups. Then, the reference white estimation is performed by the color sampling which is to choose all the accumulated pixels contained within the standard group. The color gain for image compensation by considering the color saturation is also computed. the proposed algorithm provides a significant performance.

  • To realize a high luminous efficacy and a high emission color purity for the white-LEDs, the understanding for luminescence properties of the phosphors is significantly important because the performance of white-LEDs is directly affected by the luminescence properties of the phosphors. In this paper, therefore, we reviewed some commercially available $Eu^{2+}$- and $Ce^{3+}$- activated phosphors and discussed for the luminescence properties of these phosphors.
