  • This paper presents a simple and cost effective circuit topology of single-ended type high frequency quasi-resonant PWM inverter using IGBTs, which can operate under wide soft switching operation range based on ZCS for main power switch as compared with a conventional active voltage-clamped ZVS-PWM high frequency quasi-resonant inverter developed previously. In principle, this new circuit topology can efficiently operate under a constant frequency PWM control-based power regulation scheme. In particular, it is noted that the zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation can achieve for the main active power switch. On the other hand, the zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) commutation can also achieve for the auxiliary active power switch. The operating principle of this high-frequency Inverter treated here and its power regulation characteristics are illustrated on the basis of the simulation and feasible experimental results.

  • This paper presents a simple circuit topology of the auxiliary active quasi-resonant DC link snubber-assisted three phase voltage source soft-switching inverter for small scale PM motor drive applications. The pulse processing drive circuit interface and its soft-switching operation are discussed from an experimental point of view. Moreover, its conductive noise is measured and evaluated for electrical AC servo motor drive as compared with that of the conventional hard switching inverter.

  • In this paper, a New Low Loss Quasi-Parallel Resonant DC-Link(NLQPRDCL) Inverter which shows highly improved PWM capability, low loss characteristic and low voltage stress is presented. A method to minimize freewheeling interval, which is able to largely decrease DC-link operation losses and to steadily guarantee soft switching in the wide operation region is also proposed. In addition, lossless control of zero voltage duration of DC-link makes the proposed inverter maintain the advanced PWM capability even under a very low modulation index. Experiment and simulation were performed to verify validity of the proposed inverter topology.

  • This paper describes a new dc-ac inverter system which for achieving sinusoidal ac waveform makes use of parallel loaded high frequency resonant inverter consisting of full bridge. Each one of the pair of switches in the inverter is driven to synchronous output frequency and the other is driven to PWM signal with resonant frequency proportional to magnitude of sine wave. A forced discontinuous conduction mode is used to realize the quasi-sinusoidal pulse in each switching period. Therefore the inverter generates sinusoidal modulated output voltage including carrier frequency that is resonant frequency. Carrier frequency components of modulated output voltage is filtered by low pass filter. Since current through switches is always zero at its turn-on in the proposed inverter, low stress and low switching loss is achieved. Operating characteristics of the proposed system is analyzed in per unit system using computer simulation. The output voltage of if includes low harmonics and it is almost close to sine wave. Also, the theoretical analysis is proved through the experimental test.

  • In this paper, a novel type of auxiliary active snubbingcircuit assisted quasi-resonant soft-switching pulse width modulation inverter is proposed for consumer induction heating equipments. The operation principle of this high frequency inverter is described using switching modes and equivalent circuits. This newly developed series resonant high frequency inverter can regulate its high frequency output AC power under a principle of constant frequency active edge resonant soft- switching commutation by asymmetrical PWM control system. The high frequency power regulation and actual power conversion efficiency characteristics of consumer induction heating (IH) products using the proposed soft-switching pulse width modulation (PWM) series load resonant high frequency inverter evaluated. The practical effectiveness and operating performance of high frequency inverter are discussion on the basis of simulation and experimental results as compared with the conventional soft-switching high frequency inverter.

  • A new three-phase soft-switching active front-end inverter is presented. The topology consists of a quasi-resonant PWM boost converter with an additional resonant branch, which provides low loss at high frequency operation. This leads to a high conversion efficiency and a remarkable reduction in the siBe of the input inductor. To synchronise the PWM pattern with the resonance cycle, a modified space vector modulation with asymmetrical PWM pattern is used. A high power factor can be achieved for both power flow directions. Due to a new control strategy the converter features a low content of harmonics in the line currents even for distorted line voltages.
