  • A series of new chiral [iminophosphoranyl]ferrocenes, {${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-PPh^2-2-CH(Me)NMe_2$} (1: R = Me, $^iPr$), {${\eta}^5{-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2}^1-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)-2-CH(Me)R_2$} (2: $R^1\;=\;Me,\;^iPr;\;R^2\;=\;NMe_2$, OMe), and $({\eta}^5-C_5H_5)Fe${${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-1-PR_2-2-CH(Me)N=PPh_3$} (3:R = Ph, $C_6H_{11}$) have been prepared from the reaction of [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-(N,N-dimethylamino) ethyl]ferrocene with arylazides (1 & 2) and the reaction of phosphine dichlorides ($R_3PCl_{2}$) with [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-aminoethyl]ferrocene (3), respectively. They form palladium complexes of the type $[Pd(C_3H_5)(L)]BF_4$ (4-6: L = 1-3), where the ligand (L) adopts an ${\eta}^2-N,N\;(2)\;or\;{\eta}^2$-P,N (3) as expected. In the case of 1, a potential terdentate, an ${\eta}^2$-P,N mode is realized with the exclusion of the –=NAr group from the coordination sphere. Complexes 4-6 were employed as catalysts for allylic alkylation of 1,3-diphenylallyl acetate leading to an almost stoichiometric product yield with modest enantiomeric excess (up to 74% ee). Rh(I)-complexes incorporating 1-3 were also prepared in situ for allylic alkylation of cinnamyl acetate as a probe for both regio- and enantioselectivities of the reaction. The reaction exhibited high regiocontrol in favor of a linear achiral isomer regardless of the ligand employed.

  • In this study, the conformable fractional derivative(CFD) of order 𝝔 in conjunction with the LC operator of orderρ is used to develop the model of the transmission of the A(H1N1) influenza infection. A brand-new A(H1N1) influenza infection model is presented, with a population split into four different compartments. Fixed point theorems were used to prove the existence of the solutions and uniqueness of this model. The basic reproduction number R0 was determined. The least and most sensitive variables that could alter R0 were then determined using normalized forward sensitivity indices. Through numerical simulations carried out with the aid of the Adams-Moulton approach, the study also investigated the effects of numerous biological characteristics on the system. The findings demonstrated that if 𝝔 < 1 and ρ < 1 under the CFD, also the findings demonstrated that if 𝝔 = 1 and ρ = 1 under the CFD, the A(H1N1) influenza infection will not vanish.

  • Avian influenza viruses cause a considerable threat to humans and animals. In this study, we investigated whether alkaline disinfectant solution can inactivate H5N1, H3N2, H6N1, and H9N2 subtypes of avian influenza virus. When H5N1, H3N2, H6N1, and H9N2 avian influenza viruses were treated with alkaline solution diluted with PBS (pH 7.2) prior to infection into MDCK cells, alkaline disinfectant solution (at dilutions up to $10^{-2}$) completely inactivated all avian influenza subtypes tested. To confirm the inactivation of avian influenza viruses by alkaline disinfectant solution, we used an immunofluorescence assay with influenza A anti-nucleoprotein antibody and FITC-labeled secondary antibody to stain MDCK cells infected with avian H9N2 influenza viruses. No staining was observed in MDCK rells infected with H9N2 viruses that were pre-treated with a $10^{-2}$ dilution of alkaline disinfectant solution, while strong staining was observed in MDCK cells infected with H9N2 viruses without pre-treatment. Our results indicate that alkaline solution could help to control avian influenza viruses including the highly pathogenic H5N1 subtype.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the current status of vaccination against the pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus among university students from the fields of nursing and allied health from a local community and verify factors influencing vaccination. Methods: The study included 227 students in the fields of nursing and allied health from a provincial university. Data were obtained from these participants between May 31 and June 11, 2010 by using self-report questionnaires. Results: The rate of vaccination against the pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus for these participants was 14.5%. No difference was observed in this regard between majors and school year. Factors that influence vaccination against this virus included previous vaccination against seasonal influenza and participants’ attitudes toward general vaccination. Conclusion: The results suggest that for effective pandemic (H1N1) 2009 vaccination of university students from the fields of nursing and allied health, students who have not been vaccinated should be intensively managed. Developing a vaccination program that encourages a positive attitude toward vaccination is recommended.

  • A tree is called starlike if it has exactly one vertex of degree greate. than two. In [4] it was proved that two starlike trees G and H are cospectral if and only if they are isomorphic. We prove here that there exist no two non-isomorphic Laplacian cospectral starlike trees. Further, let G be a simple graph of order n with vertex set V(G) : {1,2, …, n} and let H = {$H_1$, $H_2$, …, $H_{n}$} be a family of rooted graphs. According to [2], the rooted product G(H) is the graph obtained by identifying the root of $H_{i}$ with the i-th vertex of G. In particular, if H is the family of the paths $P_k_1,P_k_2,...P_k_2$ with the rooted vertices of degree one, in this paper the corresponding graph G(H) is called the sunlike graph and is denoted by G($k_1,k_2,...k_n$). For any $(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)\;\in\;{I_*}^n$, where $I_{*}$ = : {0,1}, let G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$ be the subgraph of G which is obtained by deleting the vertices $i_1,i_2,...i_j\;\in\;V(G)\;(O\leq j\leq n)$, provided that $x_i_1=x_i_2=...=x_i_j=o.\;Let \;G[x_1,x_2,...x_n]$ be characteristic polynomial of G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$, understanding that G[0,0,...,0] $\equiv$1. We prove that $G[k_1,k_2,...,k_n]-\sum_{x\in In}[{\prod_{\imath=1}}^n\;P_k_i+x_i-2(\lambda)](-1)...G[x_1,x_2,...,X_n]$ where x=($x_1,x_2,...,x_n$);G[$k_1,k_2,...,k_n$] and $P_n(\lambda)$ denote the characteristic polynomial of G($k_1,k_2,...,k_n$) and $P_n$, respectively. Besides, if G is a graph with $\lambda_1(G)\;\geq1$ we show that $\lambda_1(G)\;\leq\;\lambda_1(G(k_1,k_2,...,k_n))<\lambda_1(G)_{\lambda_1}^{-1}(G}$ for all positive integers $k_1,k_2,...,k_n$, where $\lambda_1$ denotes the largest eigenvalue.

  • Recently, sporadic cases of human infection by genetic reassortants of H7Nx influenza A viruses have been reported; such viruses have also been continuously isolated from avian species. In this study, A/wild bird/South Korea/sw-anu/2023, a novel reassortant of the H7N1 avian influenza virus, was analyzed using full-genome sequencing and molecular characterization. Phylogenetic analysis showed that A/wild bird/South Korea/sw-anu/2023 belonged to the Eurasian lineage of H7Nx viruses. The polymerase basic (PB)2, PB1, polymerase acidic (PA), and nucleoprotein (NP) genes of these viruses were found to be closely related to those of avian influenza viruses isolated from wild birds, while the hemagglutinin (HA), neuraminidase (NA), matrix (M), and nonstructural (NS) genes were similar to those of avian influenza viruses isolated from domestic ducks. In addition, A/wild bird/South Korea/sw-anu/2023 also had a high binding preference for avian-specific glycans in the solid-phase direct binding assay. These results suggest the presence of a new generation of H7N1 avian influenza viruses in wild birds and highlight the reassortment of avian influenza viruses found along the East Asian-Australasian flyway. Overall, H7Nx viruses circulate worldwide, and mutated H7N1 avian viruses may infect humans, which emphasizes the requirement for continued surveillance of the H7N1 avian influenza virus in wild birds and poultry.

  • Given operators $X_i$ and $Y_i$ (i = 1, 2, ${\cdots}$, n) acting on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A acting on $\mathcal{H}$ such that $AX_i$ = $Y_i$ for i= 1, 2, ${\cdots}$, n. In this article, if the range of $X_k$ is dense in H for a certain k in {1, 2, ${\cdots}$, n), then the following are equivalent: (1) There exists a self-adjoint operator A in $\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})$ stich that $AX_i$ = $Y_i$ for I = 1, 2, ${\cdots}$, n. (2) $sup\{{\frac{{\parallel}{\sum}^n_{i=1}Y_if_i{\parallel}}{{\parallel}{\sum}^n_{i=1}X_if_i{\parallel}}:f_i{\in}H}\}$ < ${\infty}$ and < $X_kf,Y_kg$ >=< $Y_kf,X_kg$> for all f, g in $\mathcal{H}$.

  • After the outbreak of the swine-origin influenza A H1N1 virus in April 2009, World Health Organization declared this novel H1N1 virus as the first pandemic influenza virus (2009 pH1N1) of the $21^{st}$ century. To elucidate the characteristics of 2009 pH1N1, the growth properties of A/Korea/01/09 (K/09) was analyzed in cells. Interestingly, the maximal titer of K/09 was higher than that of a seasonal H1N1 virus isolated in Korea 2008 (S/08) though the RNP complex of K/09 was less competent than that of S/08. In addition, the NS1 protein of K/09 was determined as a weak interferon antagonist as compared to that of S/08. Thus, in order to confine genetic determinants of K/09, activities of two major surface glycoproteins were analyzed. Interestingly, K/09 possesses highly reactive NA proteins and weak HA cell-binding avidity. These findings suggest that the surface glycoproteins might be a key factor in the features of 2009 pH1N1.

  • Every year influenza contributes to the death of 72 people in the South korea, 20,000 in the U.S. and perhaps millions worldwide. The swine fever so-called the noble flu A H1N1, a strain of the flu virus, which jumped species and burst into the human population in March and April of this year. The outbreak of 2009 novel H1N1 was the fourth in 100 years. Fortunately, it led to today's comparatively tame swine flu than the vicious 1918, which was original H1N1 pandemic flu virus, killed at least 40 million worldwide in an ongoing pandemic era. Although the 2009 H1N1 which is still in full swing, this global flu epidemic is already teaching scientists valuable lessons about pandemics. Evidence accumulated these days indicates that the 2009 H1N1 was not entirely new to all human immune systems. This article introduces only an outline for our better understanding the basic mechanisms of influenza and the vaccination about longstanding fears of that worst-case scenario engendered pandemic that are paying off today.
