퍼스널 컴퓨터의 고성능화에 따라 90년대에는 PC와 워크스테이션(W/S)의 구분이 불분명해지고 상급기종의 PC는 현재 수퍼미니급의 영역까지 파고들어 갈 것이다. CPU는 32비트 프로세서로 완전히 전환할 것이며, OS(operating system)는 MS-DOS가 멀티 태스킹이 되지 않으므로 멀 티태스킹이 가능한 OS/2와 UNIX가 주로 사용될 것이다. 또는 90년대에는 PC네트워크가 본격 적으로 이용될 것이며 OS/2의 네트워크 기능이 보다 강화될 것이다. 이용자와의 인터페이스도 문자로 키인되는 명령어양식에서 그림을 이용한 그래픽 유저 인터페이스(GUI)가 일반화할 것 이다. 또한 그래픽 기능이 강화되어 프린터로 인쇄될 이미지를 화면상에 그대로 표시되게 하는 WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get)기능이 실현될 것이다.

Stresses were calculated for finite-width orthotropic laminates with a circular hole and remote uniaxial loading using a two-dimensional finite-element analysis with both uniform stress and uniform displacement boundary conditions. Five different laminates were analyzed: quasi-isotropic [0.deg./.+-.45.deg./90.deg.].$\_$s/, 0.deg., 90.deg., [0.deg./90.deg.]$\_$s/, and [.+-.45.deg.]$\_$s/, Computed results are presented for selected combinations of hole diameter-sheet-width ratio d/w and length-to width ratio L/w. For small L/w values, the stress-concentration factors K$\_$tn/ were significantly different for the uniform stress and uniform displacement boundary conditions. Typically, for the uniform stress conditions, the K$\_$tn/ values were much larger than for the infinite-strip reference conditions; however, for the uniform displacement conditon, they were only slighty smaller than for this reference. The results for long strips are also presented as width-correction factor. For d/w.leg.33, these width-correction factors are nearly equal for all five laminates.

The s-type pyocin, one kind of bacteriocins, is a bactericidal substabce of protein nature produced by certain Pseudomonas aeruginosa and is active against some other strains of the same or closely related species. Among many Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains collected from the patients at the Hospitals in Seoul and Taegu cities, some Pseudomonas aeruginosa pyocinogeny were determined by pyocin typing. As a result, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 90-2-2205 was selected as the S-type pyocin producing microorganism due to its highest antimicrobial and protease sensitivity.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact behaviors of laminated composite plates subjected to the transverse low-velocity impact by the steel ball. A plate finite element model based on Whitney and Pagano's the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) in conjunction with experimental static contact laws is formulated and then compared with the results of the impact experiments. Because the input data and the output data printed at every integration time step are lots of amount, these are interactively poecessed by the developed pre-processor(PREPLOT) and postprecessor(POSTPLOT). All results from these procesors are automatically generated by CALCOMP plotter. Test materials are glass/expoxy composite materials. The specimens are composed of [$0^{\circ} /45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/0^{\circ}/]2s\ and \[90^{\circ}/45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}/90^{\circ}/$]2s stacking sequences and have $4.5^t{\times}200^w{\times}200^l$(mm) and $4.5^t{\times}300^w{\times}300^l$(mm) dimensions.

The s-type pyocin was purified from the lysate of the mitomycin C-induced Pseudomonas aeruginosa 90-2-2205 cells by the other of ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 chromatography and Sephadex G-200 gel filtration. The purity was confirmed by the polyacry-lamide gel electrophoresis. The molecular weight of the purified pyocin was estimated 180, 000 by gel filtration. The pyocin was analyzed to be a complex of some polypeptides by the SDS-PAGE. The pyocin was stable by heat treatment and at pH 6-7.5 by adding 10-3% gelatin and 0.2M NaCl to the 10mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH7.5). Its killing action against the sensitive cells was assumably a single hit process.

The performance of frame synchronization can be represented by the values of three characteristic variables-average misframe interval, average syncloss detection time, average reframe time. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of frame synchronization of the standardized 90Mb/s optical transmission system by Markov chain method, with the suggestion of an extended algorithm for performance improvement. Maximum average reframe time of 1.18 ms can be obtained by the suggested algorithm, which is compared with that of 2.28 ms for the existing algorithm.

Torilin was isolated from haxane fraction of Torilis Fructus extract. Torilin produced inhibition of the acetic acid-induced and phenylquinone-induced writhing syndrome at the oral doses of 30 and 90 mg/kg in mice. It also increased the pain threshold at the oral doses of 30, 90 and 270 mg/kg in the tail pressure method and the Randall-Selitto method. However, it did not show a hypothermic action at the oral doses of 30 and 90 mg/kg in mice. The compound exhibited strong anticarrageenan activity at the oral doses of 90 and 270 mg/kg in rats, and had inhibitory effect on the vascular permeability at the oral doses of 30 and 90 mg/kg in mice. It also showed potent inhibition of leucocyte emigration in CMC-pouch at the doses of 3 and 9 mg/rat, sc. The acute toxicity of torilin was very weak: the $LD_{50}$ values were more than 5000 mg/kg, po and 2000 mg/kg, ip in mice. From the above mentioned results, it was suggested that torilin had potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.

Objective : The aims of this study were to show the clinical aspects and to investigate psychiatric traits by SCL-90-R in patients who visited Oriental Medicine Hospital Emergency Room. Method : We studied twenty patients who visited Daejeon University Oriental Medicine Hospital from May, 2003 to September, 2003. Results : 1. The ratio of male to female patients was 1:3 and age distribution was most frequent in 30s&40s. 2. The most frequent cause of illness was stress in occupation and overwork. The greater part of patients came to hospital in 12hours after an attack. 3. In chief problem, somatic symptoms such as headache, dizziness, numbness and chest discomfort were most frequent. In diagnosis, somatization disorder was most frequent. 4. After treatment, most of symptoms were improved. 5. Psychiatric traits by SCL-90-R correlated with somatization and anxiety.

In the 90s, due the Japanese students' degradation in reading comprehension from literacy escape, it was serious social phenomenon that brought reading crisis in Japan. However, school libraries and related institutions regarded this as a turning point and started to reset revise their legislations and focused on environmental improvement of children's reading activities from various aspects by conduction reading related activities. This study is to help understanding macro-environment of Japanese school libraries by introducing and summarizing all the efforts from each fields for restructuring reading environment mainly around the school libraries from 90's in Japan.

Background: Over two decades of observations in the field in South East Asia and Hawai'i suggest that majority of the commercial dairy herds are of black hair coat. Hence a simple study to determine the accuracy of the observation was conducted with two large dairy herds in Hawaii in the mid-1990s. Methods: A retrospective study on longevity of Holstein cattle in the tropics was conducted using DairyComp-305 lactation information coupled with phenotypic evaluation of hair coat color in two large dairy farms. Cows were classified into 3 groups: a) black (B, >90%); b) black/white (BW, 50:50) and c) white (W, >90%). Cows with other hair coat distribution were excluded from the study. In farm A, 211 out of 970 cows were identified having 4 or more lactations. In farm B, 690 out of 1,350 cows were identified with 2 or more lactations for the study. Results: The regression analyses and the Wilcoxon-Log-rank test for survival probability showed that Holstein cattle with 90% black hair coat had greater longevity compared to Holstein cattle with 90% white hair coat. Conclusions: This study suggests that longevity of Holstein cattle in tropical regions was influenced by hair coat color and characteristics.
