Broadband 8 dBi Double Dipole Quasi-Yagi Antenna Using 4×2 Meanderline Array Structure (4×2 미앤더라인 배열 구조를 이용한 광대역 8 dBi 이중 다이폴 준-야기 안테나)

  • In this paper, a broadband double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna using a 4×2 meander line array structure for maintaining 8 dBi gain was studied. The 4×2 meanderline array structure consists of a unit cell in the shape of a meanderline conductor, and it was placed above the second dipole antenna of the double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna. A double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna with generally used multiple strip directors was designed on an FR4 substrate with the same size, and the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics were compared. Comparison results showed that the impedance frequency bandwidth increased by 6.3% compared to when using the multiple strip directors, the frequency bandwidth with a gain of 8 dBi or more increased by 10.1%, and average gain also slightly increased. The frequency band of the fabricated antenna for a voltage standing wave ratio less than 2 was 1.548-2.846 GHz(59.1%), and gain was measured to be more than 8 dBi in the 1.6-2.8 GHz band.

  • A novel single feed wide band CP stacked microstrip antenna using crossed slots has been designed, fabricated and measured. For the single rediating element the designed 10dB return loss bandwidth is 34.5%99.45~13.54 GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 18.7%(11.17~13.39GHz), and 6 dB gain bandwidth is 29%(10.21~13.64GHz). For the 2$\times$2 array designed using a sequential rotation method, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 35.9%(9.69~13.94GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 34.6GHz (9.93~14.03GHz), and 6dB gain bandwidth is 27.4%(10.35~13.6GHz). For the fabricated 8$\times$8 array antenna, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 27.3%(10.17~13.41GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 27.9GHz(10.1~13.4GHz), and the radiation pattern is good agreement with theory. This antenna can be used for broadband applications for communications or broadcasting in Ku band.

  • Muscat Bailey A (MBA) wine was fermented using the indigenous Korean Saccahromyces cerevisiae strains S13 and D8, and the fermentation characteristics were compared with those of S. cerevisiae W-3, an industrial wine yeast. The strains S13 and D8 showed delayed alcohol fermentation compared with the W-3 strain, but the final alcohol contents of the S13 and D8 wines after fermentation were similar to those of the W-3 wine. The S13 wine showed significantly lower malic-acid content than the W-3 wine, but the D8 wine showed a similar level. Both the wines fermented using the S13 and D8 strains showed significantly lower acetaldehyde, methanol, and fusel oil contents, including n-propanol, iso-butyl alcohol, and iso-amyl alcohol, compared to the W-3 wine. Especially, the methanol content was 98.6 mg/L in the S13 wine and 112.0 mg/L in the D8 wine, which were much lower than 192.8 mg/L in the W-3 wine. The S13 wine obtained the highest score in terms of color among the three wines in the sensory evaluation, with lower Hunter's L, a, and b values compared to the W-3 wine.

D(-)- and L(+)-Lactic Acids Contents of Commercial Yogurts (시판 요구르트 중의 D(-)- 및 L(+)-락트산 함량)

  • The ranges of D(-)- and L(+)-lactic acids contents in commercial liquid yogurt were $6.1{\sim}535.8mg/100ml\;and\;70.0{\sim}664.6mg/100ml$, respectively. The ratio of L(+)-lactic acid to D(-)-lactic acid was $0.2{\sim}109.0$. The ranges of D(-)- and L(+)-lactic acids contents in commercial semi-solid yogurt were $10.1{\sim}418.3mg/100g\;and\;515.8{\sim}792.1mg/100g$ respectively. The ratio of L(+)-lactic acid to D(-)-lactic acid was $1.2{\sim}78.4$.

  • This paper present an 8kbps ACLMS-MPC(Amplitude Compensation and Least Mean Square - Multi Pulse Coding) coding method integrated with ACFBD-MPC(Amplitude Compensation Frequency Band Division - Multi Pulse Coding) and LMS-MPC(Least Mean Square - Multi Pulse Coding) used V/UV/S(Voiced / Unvoiced / Silence) switching, compensation in a multi-pulses each pitch interval and Unvoiced approximate-synthesis by using specific frequency in order to reduce distortion of synthesis waveform. In integrating several methods, it is important to adjust the bit rate of voiced and unvoiced sound source to 8kbps while reducing the distortion of the speech waveform. In adjusting the bit rate of voiced and unvoiced sound source to 8 kbps, the speech waveform can be synthesized efficiently by restoring the individual pitch intervals using multi pulse in the representative interval. I was implemented that the ACLMS-MPC method and evaluate the SNR of APC-LMS in coding condition in 8kbps. As a result, SNR of ACLMS-MPC was 15.0dB for female voice and 14.3dB for male voice respectively. Therefore, I found that ACLMS-MPC was improved by 0.3dB~1.8dB for male voice and 0.3dB~1.6dB for female voice compared to existing MPC, ACFBD-MPC and LMS-MPC. These methods are expected to be applied to a method of speech coding using sound source in a low bit rate such as a cellular phone or internet phone. In the future, I will study the evaluation of the sound quality of 6.9kbps speech coding method that simultaneously compensation the amplitude and position of multi-pulse source.

  • The sutdies were carried out to evaluate the consituents in the rihzomes of the cultivated Korean Rhubarb (Polygonaceae). From the acetone fraction ofl methanol extract Compound I (1, 8-dihydroxy-3-methyl anthraquinone, chrysophanic acid), Compound II($chrysophanol-8-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$), Compound III ($emodin-8-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$) and Compound IV ($aloe-emodin-8-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$), and from the ether fraction Compound V(1, 8-dihydorxy-3-emthyl-6-methoxy anthraquinone, physcion) and Compound VI (1, 6, 8-thitydroxy-3-emthyl anthrauinone, emodin), and also from the n-buthanol fraction Compound VII ($rhapontigenin-3-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside, rhaponticin$) and Compound VIII ($piceatannol-3'-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$), were isolated and identified on the basis of their physico-chemical and spectroscopic evidences (UV, IR, H-NMR, C-NMR, EI-MS), respectively.

Effect of water extract and distillate from the mixture of black goat meat and medicinal herb on osteoblast proliferation and osteoclast formation (흑염소와 약용식물 복합 증탕추출액 및 증류액이 조골세포 증식과 파골세포 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The effects of water extract and distillate from the mixture of black goat meat and medicinal herb on MG-63 osteoblast proliferation and mouse bone marrow derived osteoclast formation were investigated. Methods: Proximate composition, volatile basic nitrogen (VBN), mineral content, free amino acid composition and free fatty acid composition in black goat meat were determined. Water extract and distillate were prepared with three groups; goat meat only (BG-E, BG-D), six herbs added group (BG-E6, BG-D6), and eight herbs added group (BG-E8, BG-D8). Osteoblast proliferation, mineralization and calcium uptake activity of MG-63 cells were measured and tartrate resistant acid phosphatase activity of osteoclasts was analyzed. Results: Black goat meat had remarkably low fat and high level of calcium. Glutamic acid was the most abundant amino acid. Herbs added extract groups (BG-E6 and BG-E8) showed increased MG-63 cell proliferation in a concentration dependent manner, while all the distillates did not show the effect. All extracts and distillates showed significantly increased osteoblast mineralization depending on the concentration. In particular, herb added extract, BG-E6, increased 170.3% of control and the distillate of BG-D and BG-D6 increased up to 168.5% and 159.8%, respectively. Calcium uptake activities of all water extracts showed remarkable increase of BG-E6 and BG-E8 up to 615.5% and 628.1% of control, respectively. Ditillates had no effect except BG-D6. All water extracts significantly reduced the activity of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) in osteoclasts derived from mouse bone marrow. Conclusion: Combination of black goat meat and medicinal herb increased the MG-63 cell proliferation and effectively inhibited osteoclast differentiation in both water extracts and distillate of them, which implies that they could be used as potent functional food materials for bone health.

  • Five lignan glycosides, seven megastigmane glycosides, and seven phenolic compounds were isolated by repeated column chromatography from the MeOH extract of Salsola komarovii. Their structures were determined to be lariciresinol-9-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (1), alangilignoside C (2), conicaoside (3), (+)-lyoniresinol 9'-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (4), (8S,8'R,7'R)-9'-[(${\beta}$-glucopyranosyl)oxy]lyoniresinol (5), blumenyl B ${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (6), blumenyl A ${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (7), staphylionoside D (8), icariside $B_2$ (9), (6R,9S)-3-oxo-${\alpha}$-ionol ${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (10), 3-oxo-${\alpha}$-ionol 9-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-apiofuranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}6$)-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (11), blumenol B 9-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-apiofuranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}6$)-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (12), benzyl 6-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-apiofuranosyl-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (13), canthoside C (14), tachioside (15), isotachioside (16), biophenol 2 (17), 2-(3,4-dihydroxy)-phenyl-ethyl-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranoside (18), and cuneataside C (19) by spectroscopic methods. All the isolated compounds 1 - 19 were reported from this source for the first time. Compounds 2, 3 and 6 upregulated NGF secretion to $118.8{\pm}3.6%$, $128.2{\pm}9.3%$ and $111.1{\pm}7.1%$ without significant cell toxicity.

A Study on the Visual Effects According to the Lines in Cloth Designing (의복 디자인 선에 따른 시각적 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Authors have performed the sensory evaluation tests according to each given items after selecting various lines in order to assess the visual effects by the lines in cloth designing. The evaluations were done by means of ranking tests followed by paired comparison tests. The results obtained were as follows : 1. In the item in than "Shoulder width looks wide", the design C3 showed the best visual effect, and then B1, F8, and A5 comes in order. In "Shoulder width looks narrow", they were A2, F5, F7, and B2 in order. 2. In "Bust looks big", the effect was best in F9, and then B1, F5, C3, and A5 and order. "Bust looks small" item showed A3, C1, and F1 in order. 3. In "Waist looks thick", they were B2, D1, and F7 while in "Waist looks thin", they were B3, F8, and D6 in order. 4. In the item in that "Hip looks big", the best effect was in F9, and then E3, C2, and B4 in order. In "Hip looks small", the best one was C1, and then comes. E1, F6, and F8. 5. In "Upper body looks thick", they were D2, D4, F8, C3 and A5 in order whild in "Upper body looks thin", they were A1, F5, and D7 in order. 6. In the item "Lower body lookds thick", they were F9, C2, E3, B3, and D3 in order. In "Lower body looks thin", the best one was C1, and then D1, E2, F6, and F8 comes in order. 7. In "whole body looks thick", they were F9, F3, D3, and A5, and in "Whole body looks thin", they were F5, A1, C1, and D6 in order. 8. In "Height looks tall", the effects were in order of A4, D6, E1, and F7 while in "Height looks short", they were E3, F9, B4, D2, and D1. 8. In "Height looks tall", the effects were in order of A4, D6, E1, and F7 while in "Height looks short", they were E3, F9, B4, D2, and D1. F9, B4, D2, and D1.

Eight cases of incidentally diagnosed as subclinical rickets (우연히 발견된 무증상 구루병 8예)

  • Purpose : Vitamin D plays a key role in bone mineralization of the skeleton and vitamin D deficiency can lead to rickets. It is well known that vitamin D deficiency is common in breast fed infants. Of these patients, clinically, some have no signs of rickets, but laboratory and radiographic findings are diagnostic for vitamin D deficiency rickets (subclinical vitamin D deficiency rickets). The purpose of this study is to clarify current causes and ways to prevent this disease. Methods : We reviewed the clinical and laboratory characteristics of children who were incidentally diagnosed as subclinical rickets during treatment of other disease such as pneumonia, gastroenteritis, urinary tract infection at Eulji Hospital, Seoul, Korea from March, 2003 to July 2007. Results : Eight patients (six boys and two girls) were diagnosed with subclinical vitamin D deficiency rickets. The mean age of the patients was $12.6{\pm}5.8months$, and they were diagnosed from January to July. The associated diseases were pneumonia, urinary tract infection, acute gastroenteritis, and iron deficiency anemia. All patients were breast-fed. Two showed growth failure. The mean serum alkaline phosphatase was $1995.8{\pm}739.5IU/L$, the mean calcium count was $9.5{\pm}0.6mg/dL$, and the mean phosphorus content was $3.6{\pm}1.5mg/dL$. The mean intact parathyroid hormone was $214.8{\pm}155.9pg/mL$ (reference range, 9-65), the mean 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D was $82.4{\pm}49.3pg/mL$ (reference range, 2070), and the mean 25-hydroxyvitamin D was $29.6{\pm}10.6ng/mL$ (reference range, 1030). A radiographic examination showed cupping, fraying, and flaring of metaphyses in all patients. Six patients were administered calcitriol (400 IU/day) for three months. A consequent radiographic and laboratory examination showed improvement. The first two patients were initially diagnosed with metaphyseal dysplasia, without the detection of vitamin D deficiency and they spontaneously improved without vitamin D supplements. However, two years later, they showed mild scoliosis and metaphyseal dysplasia, respectively. Conclusion : Breast-feeding without supplementation involves high risk of vitamin D deficiency. Some infants may also develop rickets; therefore, such groups should be considered for vitamin D supplementation.
