Improved Active Power Filter Performance Based on an Indirect Current Control Technique

  • This paper presents a method for the performance improvement of a shunt active power filter (SAPF) using the indirect current control (ICC) scheme. Compared to the conventional direct current control (DCC) scheme, the ICC gives better performance with a lower number of sensors. A simplified and efficient control algorithm using a low cost Intel 80C196KC microcontroller is implemented using only two current sensors for the source current and one voltage sensor for the DC-link voltage of the SAPF circuit. The objective is to eliminate harmonics and to compensate the reactive power produced by non-linear loads such as an uncontrolled rectifier feeding an inductive load. The APF is realized using a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) with a dc bus capacitor. Experimental results are presented to prove the better performance of the ICC method over the DCC one.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. However, it also has some drawbacks such as relatively high torque ripple and acoustic noise which are caused by the torque production mechanism. To reduce torque ripple and to have precise speed control, PLL technique is adopted. The PLL system in conjunction with dynamic dwell angle control scheme has good speed regulation characteristics. Digital control system with a 80c196kc micro-controller is used to be realized this drive system. Test results show that the suggested control system has the ability of dynamic and precise speed control.

  • This paper presents a study of the performance of a brushless DC motor (BLDCM) speed control system. Recently, most motor controls are implemented in digital electronics. Digital controllers tend to be more accurate, less susceptible to noise and more flexible in terms of programming. The system used a digital PI controller in order to implement the constant speed of Brushless DC motor. Microprocessor used in this experiment is 80c196kc. The applied motor has been constructed using a 50W, 150V, 3000rpm, four-pole motor.

  • In this paper, this system makes use of the analog sensor and converts the feature of fish analog signal when sensor is operating with CPU(80C196KC). Then, After signal processing, this feature Is classified a special feature and a outline of fish by using the neural network, one of the artificial intelligence scheme. This neural network classifies fish pattern of very simple and short calculation. This has linear activation function and the error backpropagation is used as a learning algorithm. And the neural network is learned in off-line process. Because an adaptation period of neural network is too long time when random initial weights are used, off-line learning Is induced to decrease the Progress time We confirmed this method has better performance than somewhat outdated machines.

  • We have fabricated a sensor system for on-line monitoring the oxygen permeability and diffusivity of six different polymer films using the miniaturized 6 cathode(Ag)-single anode(Ag/AgCl) type hexagonal oxygen electrode. This system consists of multiple input front-end electronics, signal conditioning circuit using the embedded microcontroller 80C196KC, PC interface circuit and PC with the OS for microcontroller and the operating program for this system. The digital low-[ass filter was programmed and the simulated filter characteristics were enough to eliminate the noise from sensor signal. According to the experimental results, the linearity coefficients of the output voltage to oxygen partial pressure for each sensor electrode of six cathode type oxygen sensor are 0.998, 0.997, 0.998, 0.997, 0.997, 0.997 respectively, and the response times are all within 4 minutes.

  • In this study, as the preliminary step for developing an unmanned vehicle to deliver a container-box, we designed and implemented Automatic Guided Vehicle(AGV) Simulator for the purpose of Port Facilities Automation. It is preferable to research the intelligent AGV for delivery all day long. For complementing AGV simulator driving, we used multiple-sensor systems with vision, ultrasonic, IR and adapted the high-speed wireless LAN that satisfies the IEEE 802.11 Standard for bi-directional communication between main processor in AGV and Host computer. Here, we mounted on bottom frame in AGV Pentium-III processor, which combine and compute the information from each sensor system and control the AGV driving, and used the 80C196KC micro-controller to control the actuating and steering motors.

  • In this paper, one chip PWM pattern generator which eliminates time delay of computations and improves utilization factor of voltage is proposed. Both amplitude of sinusoidal signal and triangular signal are directly controlled. Thus, time delay of computations can be eliminated, and it is possible to track accurately instantaneous current for a sudden change of load with microprocessor 80C196KC. In addition, setting dead-time is also possible for wide range. From experimental work with inverter system for driving induction motor, the validity of proposed one chip PWM pattern generator is verified.

  • A portable electronic nose system has been fabricated and characterized using an oxide semiconductor gas sensor array and pattern recognition techniques such as principal component analysis and back-propagation artificial neural network. The sensor array consists of six thick-film gas sensors whose sensing layers are Pd-doped $WO_{3}$, Pt-doped $SnO_{2}$, $TiO_{2}-Sb_{2}O_{5}-Pd$-doped $SnO_{2}$, $TiO_{2}-Sb_{2}O_{5}-Pd$-doped $SnO_{2}$ + Pd coated layer, $Al_{2}O_{3}$-doped ZnO and $PdCl_{2}$-doped $SnO_{2}$. The portable electronic nose system consists of an 16bit Intel 80c196kc as CPU, an EPROM for storing system main program, an EEPROM for containing optimized connection weights of artificial neural network, an LCD for displaying gas concentrations. As an application the system has been used to identify 26 carbon monoxide/hydrocarbon (CO/HC) car exhausting gases in the concentration range of CO 0%/HC 0 ppm to CO 7.6%/HC 400 ppm and the identification has been successfully demonstrated.

Remote Measurement for Automobile′s ECU Diagnostic Signals based on the PDA (PDA 기반의 차량 진단신호의 원격 계측)

  • In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's self diagnostic signals of vehicle without wire. In order to measure the ECU's self diagnostic signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and a designed display terminal according to the ISO, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. A 80C196KC processor is used for communicating ECU's self diagnostic signals and the results are sent to PDA monitoring system. Software on PDA is developed to monitor the ECU's self diagnostic signals using the Embedded Visual C++ compiler in which RS232 port is programmed by half duplex method. The algorithms for measuring the ECU's self diagnostic signals are verified to monitor ECU's state. At the same time, the information to fix the vehicle's problem can be shown on the developed PDA software. The possibility for remote measurement of ECU self diagnostic signal using PDA is also verified through the developed systems and algorithms.

  • Generally, Slotless PM BLDC drive system is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference and encoder be installed in case of the 3 phase motor. So, the Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor, and the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs and encoder, we used only two Hall-ICs for the permanent magnet rotor position and for the speed feedback signals, and also for a microcontroller of 16-bit type (80C196KC) with the 3 phase Slotless PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed. Two Hall-IC Hc and $H_B$ are placed on the endplate at 120 degree intervals, and with these elements, we can estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a rotating rotor.
