Objectives : Sa-am Acupucture(舍岩鍼法), Taeguk Acupucture(太極鍼法), and 8 Constitution-Acupuncture(八體質鍼法) are largely used acupuncture therapies which utilize Yin and Yang, The Five Elements, Interpromoting and Counteracting Relation(相生 相克 關係). We are here to compare and study each acupuncture methods in order to understand their fundamental principle and theory. Conclusion : 1. When prescribing Herb to patients, we can use the Differentiation of Syndromes method(辨證論治). As there is Constitutional Medicine prescription(四象醫學處方) using constitutional Large & Small Relation of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小 關係), in acupuncture treatment we can use the Differentiation of Syndromes method of Sa-am acupucture, applying constitutional Large & Small feature of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小) in Taeguk Acupucture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture we can derive a suitable prescriptions. 2. Taeguk Acupucture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture is an acupunture method created upon the constitutional theory. Taeguk Acupucture lacks a theory and has problems with its practical use. 8 Constitution-Acupuncture has a theory, thus it can give us the chance to make derived diverse prescriptions for each diseases. 3. Sa-am Acupucture uses exclusively Manual technique(手技法), breathing Posa method(呼吸補瀉法), YoungSu Posa method(迎隨補瀉法) and also retaining method(留鍼法). Taeguk Acupunctune is directed related with WonBang Posa method(圓方補瀉法), twirling method(撚鍼法) and uses retaining method. 8 Constitution-Acupuncture works only with YoungSu Posa method and also One-insertion method(單刺法). 4. If we apply The Five Elements of five Su points and Interpromoting and Counteracting Relation(相生 相克 關係), we can control discords between Jang and Bu organs. Sa-am Acupucture, Taeguk Acupture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture which use five Su points can make better results in Jang and Bu organs disease. 5. Sa-am Acupunture needs diverse applications of Organ picture theory(臟象論), Pathogenesis theory(病機學說) and an proper prescription studies by Differentiation of Syndromes(辨證). Taeguk Acupuncture and 8 Constitution Acupuncture has a organized prescription methods by constitutional Large & Small relation of Jang and Bu organs(臟腑大小), thus we need to focus on objectification in constitutional differentiation.

1. Purpose A branch of acupuncture is to be tender at the sasang contitutional medicine. So studying 『HwangJeNaiKyung』, we find the commencement of sasangin-acupuncture that Dong-Mu was not discovered. 2. Method We select the constitutional acupuncture of 『HwangJeNaiKyung』, and analysis that. 3. Result We can find the constitutional acupuncture of 『HwangJeNaiKyung』 as follows. The first, Acu-point of each constitution is not mentioned. The second, Acupuncture comparing with HyungJiGoRak(形志苦樂) of 『HwangJeNaiKyung』 is effective at mind-treatment. The third, the response of acupuncture supply the commencement that can devide YangIn(陽人) and EumIn(陰人). The forth, according to the fatness and the thinness it must be different with the depth of acupuncture and the time of acupuncture. The fifth, according to the HanYeulHeuSil(寒熱虛實) of constitution, there can be different the depth of acupuncture, the time of acupuncture and the count of acupuncture. But throuth 『HwangJeNaiKyung』 we can not find the commencement of the theory of Dong-Mu's SeungGangWanSok(升降緩束).

Hiccups is one of the omnipresent phenomenon occurring in everyone. Most episodes are time-limited, but, sometimes, they become intractable and protracted for a long time. In most cases, they are idiopathic. But, sometimes there are cases which have diverse kinds of underlying disorders. In this study, the author reports a case of idiopathic and persistent hiccups. He recently encountered a 64 year old male patient with intractable and persistent hiccups for over two weeks. By using the method of 8 Constitutional Acupuncture therapy and herbal medication( Hyangsapyeungwutang) regarding him as RENOTONIA. After 7days of treatment, the symptoms disappeared.

Four-constitutional theory proposed by Dr. Lee, Je-ma has been evolve for last 100years by his followers. One of the major progresses was the emergence of constitutional acupuncture proposed by Dr. Kwan Doh-won. Constitutional acupuncture included the new pulse diagnostic method to determine the body type, pulse diagrams and corresponding acupuncture method called five element acupuncture in which five-element points in 12 meridian channels are used. Dr. Sa-ahm proposed five-element acupuncture three and a half hundred years age. Conjunction of Dr Lee's theory to Dr. Kwan proposed eight constitutions with eight pulse diagrams. He also adopted eight acupuncture prescriptions out of twenty-four Sa-ahm's acupuncture prescriptions. The author, Dr. Yom Tae-hwa, proposed more inclusive theory of 24 constitutions with 24 diagnostic pulse diagrams in Las Vegas International Acupuncture Convention in 1986. This article reviews history of constitutional medicine briefly. Each step of theoretical evolution from four-constitutional theory to twenty-four-constitutional theory is explained. By understanding the theoretical connection between twelve meridian channels based on five-element theory and four-constitutional theory in the article, one will easily accept the emergence of twelve of twenty four constitutional theory. Next, the article is focused on four subcategories under Sao-Yin constitution, which are one-sixth of 24 constitution. in this section classification, pulse diagnostic method, pulse diagram acupuncture prescriptions and herbal prescriptions are explained in detail. Then, clinical trial reports of acupuncture treatment and/or herbal formulas for such constitutions are attached for the rest part of the article. the purpose of this paper is to present the new hypothesis with the result of preliminary clinical trial hoping that additional clinical reports from other practitioners in this field triggers well-designed clinical study in future.

Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the effect of five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) therapy at acupoints on the Yin meridians on obese rats(Sprague Dawley strain, male) induced by high fat diet. Methods : The control and acupuncture groups were provided with high fat diet, and the acupuncture groups were treated with five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) every other day for five weeks. We observed the body weight gain, food intake, riglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, AST, and ALT. Result : The acupuncture group treated with five element acupuncture on the meridians of spleen, heart, pericardium showed significant decrease of body weight, the groups treated on the meridians of lung, heart, pericardium showed signigicant decrease of food intake. Concentration of HDL-cholesterol was significantly increased in the groups treated on the meridians of spleen, heart, pericardium, liver. Conclusion : Reviewing these experimental results, it appears that the five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) therapy at acupoints on the meridians of spleen, heart and pericardium have an efficacy on obesity induced by high fat diet.

Dizziness is a common and often vexing symptom. But the cause of dizziness is very various and generally divided into peripheral and central. Although there are some clinical reports about dizziness. there isn't any report by Constitutional therapy. In this study, the author reports a case of recurrence and persistent vertigo. he was consulted to local E.N.T. and clinically suggested Menier's disease with tinnitus, mild deafness, and vertigo. By using the method of 8 Constitutional Acupuncture therapy and herbal medication(Mihudungsikjang-tang) regarding him as COLONOTONIA. After he regarded and treated as GOLONOTONIA, the symptoms disappeared.

Objectives This study is aimed to develop a Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) on acupuncture treatment for the stroke patients with Post-stroke Urinary Incontinence(PSUI). Methods Experts committee, consisting of stroke or methodology specialists, searched Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and 19 Korean medicine journals. The search terms were selected to screen the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or systematic reviews for the effectiveness of acupuncture on PSUI, compared with placebo or conventional group. Levels of evidence and grades of recommendations were appraised based on Recommendations for Development of Clinical Practice Guideline in Korean Medicine. Results & Conclusions 8 RCT were included to build the CPG. There was a strong evidence to support the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment for PSUI. The moderate evidence was presented that over 3 times a week of the acupuncture should be performed over 4 weeks on the acupoints, such as BL23, CV3, SP6, CV4, CV6, ST28, BL28, BL32, GV20, BL22, GV4 or ST36, for 15-30 minutes. 1-150 Hz frequency is suggested if electro-acupuncture treatments is performed with. It was also suggested that the procedure should begin at the acute stage just after the vital signs of the patients are stabilized. There was a moderate evidence to support safety of acupuncture treatment for PSUI. We recommend acu-points of constitutional acupuncture for Sasangin on the healthy side.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to figure out the effect and safety of electro-acupuncture and acupuncture on cold hypersensitivity on hands and feet(CHHF) by Sasang constitution. Methods 72 subjects were recruited from three Korean medical hospitals from October 2019 to October 2020. Subjects were randomly allocated in 1:1:1 ratio to electro-acupuncture group(EA group), acupuncture group(AC group), and control group. The EA and AC group received treatment twice a week for 5 weeks. We tried to confirm the effectiveness of electro-acupuncture and acupuncture treatment by checking changes in Visual analogue score(VAS), body temperature of LU4, PC8, ST32, LR3, and WHOQOL-BREF score. Results The VAS score of CHHF was reduced after treatment, and the effect continued for 4 weeks after the end of treatment in all Sasang constitution, all treatment groups. In all Sasang constitution, the body temperature of the electro-acupuncture group or acupuncture grouop was higher than that of the control group except LU4 in visit 11. And no clinically significant adverse events have been identified. Conclusions Electro-acupuncture and acupuncture treatment are effective on hypersensitivity on hands on feet, and the effect was shown regardless of Sasang constitution.

Introduction The aim of this study was to report significant improvement of Dyshidrosis(Pompholyx) patient who was diagnosed with 'Soyangin chest-bind symptomatic pattern' based on Sasang Constitutonal medicine. Methods The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, as well as western medicine. To evaluate the results of this treatment, the patient assessed discomfort of dyshidrosis by using Numeral Rating Scale(NRS), percentage(%) and we assessed severity of dyshidrosis by using Dyshidrotic Eczema Area and Severity Index(DASI). Results At the time of admission, the degree of discomfort in the dyshidrosis symptoms was NRS 8 and the severity of dyshidrosis was DASI 16(moderate). After the treatment, her symptoms was improved(NRS 0, DASI 0). Sleep, digestion and defecation condition were also improved. Discussion The patient who had frequent recurrence showed a significant improvement of dyshidrosis and accessory symptoms without any side effects, who was treated with Hyeongbangdojeok-san, acupuncture and western medicine.

Objectives This case study is about a Soeumin patient with jaundice identified as Greater-Yin accompanied Jaundice pattern. In this study, we report significant improvements of anorexia, dyspepsia, fatigue and weight loss after treatment with Hyangsayangyi-tang, Insambaekhaogwanjung-tang and acupuncture.Methods The patient was identified as Greater-Yin accompanied Jaundice pattern and treated with Hyangsayangyi-tang, Insambaekhaogwanjung-tang and acupuncture. The Global Assessment Scale (GAS) was used to assess the improvements of anorexia, dyspepsia, fatigue and pelvic pain after the treatment. And the liver function test was performed to measure the overall function of the liver.Result and Conclusion The symptoms of anorexia, dyspepsia, fatigue and pelvic pain were improved from GAS 100 to GAS 0-10 for four months. And The liver function test showed improved the response to treatment. The levels of AST (aspartate aminotransferase)/ALT (alanine aminotransferase) decreased from 43/42 to 29/14 IU/L. The level of total bilirubin was decreased from 2.7 to 1.9 mg/dL. Furthermore total weight gain was 8 kg from starting weight of 36.5 kg for four months. In conclusion, this study shows that Sasang constitutional medicine can be effective and safe treatment for the Soeumin patient with jaundice.
