  • Global regulatory pressures relating climate change and environmental responsibility are asking companies to find out the best way for sustaining their continuous business growths. It could be known that inadequate management for environmental issues are bad for business, negatively affecting brand image, causing unnecessary losses and costs for environmental preservation. For this reason, environmentally conscious green business growth has been recognized as an essential requirement for a company to stay in business. Many companies are looking for green business opportunities of improving their environmental and financial results, and struggling with how green fits into their business. In this paper, the Green Six Sigma, an environmentally conscious Six Sigma methodology, is presented as a way to find solutions for green growths. The Six Sigma is known as a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for achieving world-class performance in any process from manufacturing to transactional. In chronological order, the Six Sigma has been evolved from Motorola's quality-oriented methodology to GE's cost-oriented lean approach, and is being evolved and developed as an environment-oriented green growth approach. There is no doubt that the Green Six Sigma, as an engine of green growth, is a power tool for achieving competitive business performance and reducing the impact on the environment.

  • The methodology of Six Sigma originated at Motorola in the early 1980s is nowadays proved to be an effective way in Improving the quality. Many companies find adding Six Sigma to their current business system gives them all or almost all the elements of total quality management(TQM). However most companies where Six Sigma is implemented confront many difficulties in non-manufacturing parts such as transactional and administrative processes. In this paper we discuss distinct aspects of such non-manufacturing process, and investigate activating scheme of Six Sigma in those parts of industry.

  • Six sigma is a business strategy and a systematic methodology using statistically oriented approach to process and product quality improvement. Many cases have reported significant benefits from six sigma implementation. But, some organizations have been reported that six sigma methodology has not given the expected benefits. Further, small and medium sized companies have faced various barriers. The purpose of this paper is to examine the successful case study on the improvements of partnership between large and small/medium-sized companies via six sigma activities. Data were collected using in depth interviews of six sigma champion, master black belt, and black belt from one large company and five medium-sized companies in Gumi industry zone.

  • The purpose of this study was to present the 6 sigma technique in construction projects, and to review the possibility of 6 sigma introduction. DMAIC (Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology was used to increase the utilization of TIMS (Technology Information Management System). The results of this study were as follows. The introduction of the 6 sigma technique was very effective in the construction industry, but there were many difficulties in its application because of the characteristics of construction. As the 6 sigma technique emphasizes management based on data, it is essential to accumulate historical data and to achieve the standardization of the construction business process. Furthermore, it is necessary to apply 6 sigma for the competitiveness of the construction industry, and the development of suitable 6 sigma methodology for the construction industry is required.

  • Six Sigma emphasizes KPI and establishes the present level as well as the goal level through statistical calculation and tries to achieve management innovation through process improvement. But in the area of new product development or service, sufficient data for statistical measurement may not be secured. On the other side, looking for contradictions through problem analysis, TRIZ is a methodology that stresses the process of solving these problems. TRIZ also has its own problems: it is hard to define its initial task, to objectify the measurement of effect, and to optimize the drawn out idea. The purpose of this report is to give a comprehensive understanding about each methodology (Sigma Six and TRIZ) through its analysis, to confirm the need of linking both methodologies, and to suggest a model for this linking process. Also, they will be verified through examples, and the synergy effect will be discussed.

  • In Korea, an enterprise usually operates two kinds of similar innovative activities at the same time and the same place. The activities make medium and small enterprises incur conflicts of taske and wastes of resources.   • Today, many of communication methods based on print media traditionally has moved to the internet. As increase of interest in internet business, effective web site design is needed. While the researches for the evaluation of completed web site are increased, that of web site design procedures are rare. In the design process occur various problems : rework, delay, etc..   • Over recent years, 6 Sigma has become a key methodology in manufacturing for quality improvement and cost reduction. However, challenges have arisen due to the difficulty in analyzing large-scale data generated by smart factories and its traditional, formal application. To address these limitations, a big data-based 6 Sigma approach has been developed, integrating the strengths of 6 Sigma and big data analysis, including statistical verification, mathematical optimization, interpretability, and machine learning. Despite its potential, the practical impact of this big data-based 6 Sigma on manufacturing processes and management performance has not been adequately verified, leading to its limited reliability and underutilization in practice. This study investigates the efficiency impact of DX SS, a big data-based 6 Sigma, on manufacturing processes, and identifies key success policies for its effective introduction and implementation in enterprises. The study highlights the importance of involving all executives and employees and researching key success policies, as demonstrated by cases where methodology implementation failed due to incorrect policies. This research aims to assist manufacturing companies in achieving successful outcomes by actively adopting and utilizing the methodologies presented.

A Study on Evaluation of Service Quality in the Retail Industry using the 6 sigma (6 시그마를 이용한 국내 유통산업의 서비스품질 평가에 관한 연구)

  • There have been various papers about service quality. This article is one of them. This is about the measurement of service quality in the competitive structure between department and discount store. In this paper, we tried to measure the service quality and overall satisfaction by using 6 sigma, degree of combination and top2box which is a little bit different methodology from traditional ones. The data were collected by the internet survey from 1428 and 1605 department and discount store customers respectively. The result shows the different patterns in the each retail industry. Also, there is a significant difference in terms of sigma level in the each retail industry. Finally, we showed the summarized result as the 6 Sigma Portfolio Matrix.

  • Enterprises are continuously trying management innovation activities for survival. Among representative management innovation activities in domestic manufacture enterprise, which are TPS, 6 sigma, Lean 6 sigma etc. Many enterprises through these reform activity have gotten good result. However, these techniques have merits and demerits according to circumstance of enterprise. Specially, there are a lot of difficulties in medium and small size enterprises. In this research, We introduce Lean-SMAIS Method for medium and small size enterprises that is consists of the merit of lean 6 sigma and software(which is called ProEye). We prove Lean-SMAIS method is useful by applying medium and small size enterprise A company.
