Optimal Design of Electric Field Driven Liquid Crystal Fresnel Lens Using Taguchi's Method (다구찌 실험계획법을 이용한 액정 전계 프레넬 렌즈의 최적 설계)

  • A rigorous electro-optical simulation and ray tracing for an electric field driven liquid crystal Fresnel lens was proposed to obtain design parameters of the electrode pattern of the Fresnel lens. The optimal design was carried out using Taguchi's experimental method for 17.1"($368{\times}229.5$ mm) wide LCD panels with 9 views. For the calculation of the distribution of liquid crystal molecules and the optical transmission of the panel, finite difference method and extended Jones matrix method were used to deal effectively with highly nonlinear and complicated motional equations of the liquid crystal molecules and to obtain the oblique transmission characteristics of the LCD panel. As simulation results, the optimal lengths of the 3 electrodes of the Fresnel lens are 4.0 ${\mu}m$, 30 ${\mu}m$ and 83 ${\mu}m$, respectively, and the locations of the second and third electrodes are 32.9-33.0 ${\mu}m$ and 45.9-46.0 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The optimal applied voltage of the 3 electrodes are found to be 5.75 V, 7.80 V and 11.9 V, respectively.

  • The rapid growth and influence of digital technologies have had a profound effect on modern society. Companies and businesses can connect through SNS(social network service accounts). The importance of mass media empowers the creation of virtual images that are more realistic than time and space. Unlike traditional reproduction or imitation, the virtual images created in this way are reproduced in a form that lacks the original inspiration's essence. Jean Baudrillard described this phenomenon as the theory of simulation. Baudrillard argued that imitated simulated images replace reality. He stated that reality is lost under excessive images in modern society. In response, based on an understanding of the theory of hyper-reality that emerged through the late stages of the order of simulacre, this study aimed to analyze modern fashion's method of reproducing hyper-real images and investigate the method's characteristics. This study examined the characteristics of hyper-reality described by Baudrillard and analyzed the method of artistic expression of hyper-reality. Based on this method of expression, reproducibility, following the stages of image simulation, was derived. A specific case applied to fashion was analyzed, and based on the image reproduction method, specific characteristics of hyper-reality characteristics in fashion were obtained. Sixty-four collections were selected, out of which 155 images and 43 brands demonstrated the principles of image transformation.

  • Aluminum alloy sheet is being applied to automobiles continuously for the purpose of reducing car body weight. However, due to low formability, there's a limit to application of products with a deep forming depth such as door inner parts. Therefore, the difficult-to-form parts are mainly segmented formed then joined together, which is also disadvantageous as it increases the cost of manufacturing. This study proposes a hybrid cold-hot stamping method for the 1-piece door inner part to reduce cost. To design the stamping process, numerical simulation method is established by using the temperature-dependent mechanical properties of AA6016. The formability according to the hybrid cold-hot stamping method is evaluated using numerical analysis. The suitability of the proposed stamping method is then verified through the stamping tryout.

  • In this paper the buckling analysis of the nanoplate made of arbitrary bi-directional functionally graded (BDFG) materials with small scale effects are investigated. To study the small-scale effects on buckling load, the Eringen's nonlocal theory is applied. Employing the principle of minimum potential energy, the governing equations are obtained. Generalize differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to solve the governing equations for various boundary conditions to obtain the buckling load of BDFG nanoplates. These models can degenerate into the classical models if the material length scale parameter is taken to be zero. Comparison between the results of GDQ method and other papers for buckling analysis of a simply supported rectangular nano FGM plate reveals the accuracy of GDQ method. At the end some numerical results are presented to study the effects of material length scale parameter, plate thickness, aspect ratio, Poisson's ratio boundary condition and side to thickness ratio on size dependent Frequency.

  • This study compares various ways of calculating flows for the problems with the presence of shock waves by first-order schemes and higher-order DG method on the tests from the Quirk list, namely: Quirk's problem and its modifications, shock wave diffraction at a 90 degree corner, the problem of double Mach reflection. It is shown that the use of HLLC and Godunov's numerical schemes flows in calculations can lead to instability, the Rusanov-Lax-Friedrichs scheme flow can lead to high dissipation of the solution. The most universal in heavy production calculations are hybrid schemes flows, which allow the suppression of the development of instability and conserve the accuracy of the method.

  • A framework of using and integrating GIS and OR tools for determining the best site selection has been provided. In this research, we demonstrated that both the P-Median heuristic method and MIP method can be successfully applied to the optimum site selection problem of oil tank location selection. Furthermore, the results identified by both approaches are identical. To accomplish this, both GIS road and maritime networks have been constructed and combined to calculated the minimum distance matrix, which is required by both approaches. After the application to the Korean peninsula, the facility locations chosen are Kunsan, Yosu, Busan, and Okgye for each district. As has been shown, the power of GIS and both algorithm have been demonstrated throughout the research and further similar research can also be conducted using the power of GIS and Operations Research tools.

  • The synthesis of a series of fluorinated thiadiazoles 3, triazoles 4 and oxadiazoles 5 are synthesized from thiosemicarbazides 2 containing (2-(6-methyl-2-p-tolyl-lH-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl nucleus. These reactions were carried out by conventional method as well as ultra sound irradiation method. All products have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR, MS study and screened for their antimicrobial activity.

  • The purpose of this study is to set the Hallabong tangor's quality standards based on consumer preference survey. Until now the Hallabong tangor's quality standards has been based on the fruit size. Hallabong tangor's quality in agricultural cooperative, citrus agricultural cooperative, and some agricultural corporation has been selected in accordance with its own brand of quality grade using a non-destruction sorting machine. But, setting the Hallabong tangor's quality standards has been based on the convenient and routine method rather than the scientific and objective method, consumer's preference. According to the grade contents, more than sugar $13^{\circ}Bx$ and less than acid 1.10% has been used uniformly. Thus, in this study, based on the consumers' preference of Hallabong tangor, 5-level grades of sugar and 7-level grades of acidity were divided into the total 35-level grades. Based on this, 5-level grades were set and were divided into selling product grades(1~3) and non-selling product grades(4~5).

  • The large scaled field test by prefabricated vertical drains was performed to evaluate the superiority of vertical discharge capacity for drain materials through compare and analyze the time-settlement behavior with drain spacing and the compression index and consolidation coefficient obtained by laboratory experiments and field monitoring system 1. The relation of measurement settlement( $S_{m}$) versus design settlement( $S_{t}$) and measurement consolidation ratio( $U_{m}$) versus design consolidation ratio( $U_{t}$) were shown $S_{m}$=(1.0~l.1) $S_{t}$, $U_{m}$=(1.13~l.17) $U_{t}$, at 1.0m drain spacing and $S_{m}$=(0.7~0.8) $S_{t}$, $U_{m}$=(0.92~0.99) $U_{t}$ at 1.5m drain spacing, respectively. 2. The relation of field compression index( $C_{cfield}$) and virgin compression index( $V_{cclab}$) was shown $C_{cfield}$=(1.0~1.2) $V_{cclab}$, But it was nearly same value when considered the error with determination method of virgin compression index and prediction method of total settlement. 3. field consolidation coefficient was larger than laboratory consolidation coefficient, and the consolidation coefficient ratio( $C_{h}$/ $C_{v}$) were $C_{h}$=(2.4 ~ 3.0) $C_{v}$. $C_{h}$=(3.5 ~ 4.3) $C_{v}$ at 1.0m and 1.5m drain spacing and increased with increasing of drain spacingngasing of drain spacingng spacingng
