In this paper, we propose a protocol structure of a portable 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcast relay device that utilizes a 5G mobile communication network as a transport channel, and construct a prototype to conduct a broadcast relay performance test through a 5G mobile communication network. The test shows that the encoding time of the 4K UHD encoder is from a minimum of 86.28ms to a maximum of 88.41ms, the relay delay time in the 5G mobile communication network is 13.645ms on average, the delay variation is 17.49ms, and the glass-to-glass delay time is 289.90 on average, the delay variation is 27.63ms. Using the developed prototype, a relay test between Seoul and Anseong is conducted, and the possibility of 4K UHD broadcasting through a 5G mobile communication network is confirmed.

Wireless access technologies are emerging to enable high data rates for mobile users and novel applications that encompass both human and machine-type interactions. An essential approach to meet the rising demands on network capacity and offer high coverage for wireless users on upcoming fifth generation (5G) networks is heterogeneous networks (HetNets), which are generated by combining the installation of macro cells with a large number of densely distributed small cells Deployment in 5G architecture has several issues because to the rising complexity of network topology in 5G HetNets with many distinct base station types. Aside from the numerous benefits that dense small cell deployment delivers, it also introduces key mobility management issues such as frequent handover (HO), failures, delays and pingpong HO. This article investigates 5G HetNet mobility management in terms of radio resource control. This article also discusses the key challenges for 5G mobility management.
In line with the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, 5G technology has become common technology, and 5G technology is evaluated as a technology that minimizes the speed and response speed compared to 4G using technologies such as network slicing and ultra-multiple access. 5G NR stands for 5G mobile communication standard, and network slicing cuts the network into parallel connections to optimize the network. In addition, the risk of hacking is increasing as data is processed in the base station unit. In addition, since the number of accessible devices per unit area increases exponentially, there is a possibility of base station attack after hacking a large number of devices in the unit area. To solve this problem, this study proposes the introduction of quantum cryptography and 5G security standardization.
The 5G is the 5th generation mobile network that provides enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable & low latency communications, and massive machine-type communications. New services can be provided through multi-access edge computing, network function virtualization, and network slicing, which are key technologies in 5G mobile communication. However, these new technologies provide new attack paths and threats. In this paper, we analyzed the overall threats of 5G mobile communication through a literature review. First, defines 5G mobile communication, analyzes its features and technology architecture, and summarizes possible security issues. Addition, it presents security threats from the perspective of user devices, radio access network, multi-access edge computing, and core networks that constitute 5G mobile communication. After that, security requirements for threat factors were derived through literature analysis. The purpose of this study is to conduct a fundamental analysis to examine and assess the overall threat factors associated with 5G mobile communication. Through this, it will be possible to protect the information and assets of individuals and organizations that use 5G mobile communication technology, respond to various threat situations, and increase the overall level of 5G security.

Network and network functions virtualization (NFV) promise a number of attractive benefits and thus have driven mobile network operators to transform their previously static networks to more dynamic and software-defined networks. In this article, we share a mobile network operator's view based on implementation and deployment experiences in the wild during the past few years towards a software-defined 5G core network. More specifically, we present a practical point of view from mobile network operators and elaborate on why some of the virtualization benefits such as total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction are not easily realized as initially intended. Then, we describe 5G visions, services, and their requirements commonly agreed across mobile operators globally. Given the requirements, we then introduce desirable characteristics of 5G mobile core network and its key enabling technologies.

We herein analyze the service traffic characteristics and spectrum of the 5G mobile communication and suggest the effective 5G network deployment method for 5G mobile communication services. The data rates of the 5G mobile communication are from several kbps (voice and IoT) up to 1 Gbps (hologram, among others). The 5G mobile communication services show the diverse cell coverage environments owing to the use of diverse service data rates and multiple spectrum bands. To effectively support the 5G mobile communication services, the network deployment requires the optimization of the service coverages for new service environments and multiple spectrum bands. Considering the 5G spectrum bandwidth debated at present, if the 5G services of 100 Mbps can be supported in the 200 m cell edge using the 3.5 GHz spectrum bands, the 5G services of the 1 Gbps hologram and 500-Mbps 4k UHD can be supported in the cell edges of 50 m and 100 m using the 28 GHz spectrum bands. Therefore, the 5G services can be supported effectively by the 5G network deployment using spectrum portfolio configurations to match the diverse 5G services and multiple bands.
We implemented a real-time cloud robotics application by offloading robot navigation engine over to 5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) sever. We also ran a fleet management system (FMS) in the server and controlled the movements of multiple robots at the same time. The mobile robots under the test were connected to the server through 5G SA network. Public 5G network, which is already commercialized, has been temporarily modified to support this validation by the network operator. Robot engines are containerized based on micro-service architecture and have been deployed using Kubernetes - a container orchestration tool. We successfully demonstrated that mobile robots are able to avoid obstacles in real-time when the engines are remotely running in 5G MEC server. Test results are compared with 5G Public Cloud and 4G (LTE) Public Cloud as well.
As implementation of the in-band full duplex (IFD) transceiver becomes feasible, research interest is growing with respect to using IFD communication with cellular networks. However, the cellular network in which the IFD communication is applied inevitably suffers from an increase of the co-channel interference (CCI) due to IFD simultaneous transmission and reception. In this paper, we analyze the performance of a cellular network based on uni-directional IFD (UD-IFD) communication, wherein an IFD base station simultaneously supports downlink and uplink transmissions of half-duplex (HD) users. In addition, a multi-pair CCI cancellation (MP-CCIC) method combining CCIC and user pairing is proposed to improve the performance of the UD-IFD network. Simulation results showed that, compared to a conventional HD cellular network without using CCIC, capacity gain was not obtained in the UD-IFD cellular network. On the other hand, when applying the proposed MP-CCIC, the capacity of the UD-IFD cellular network greatly improved compared to that of an HD cellular network.

Recently, South Korea preferentially allocated frequencies to build 5G networks as a core competitiveness of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Although the government recognize the importance of 5G construction and preoccupation, network operators have limited to some services, testing the possibility of practical use of 5G. They hesitated to actively build and to carry out the service of a complete 5G network. While 5G is being developed and standardized like this, no one is sure of this step exactly what 5G will be. Thus, following research questions are asked by various stakeholders of 5G market: What is an ideal service providing method for the practical use of 5th generation mobile network? And what are the critical elements to be considered when selecting the service providing method? Therefore, the study aims to investigate 5G service providing issues and elements to be considered and to provide most appropriate service providing method for the practical use of 5G. The results identify that 'Specialized Service' is most appropriate method at the aspects of benefit and opportunity as well as the aspect of risk. In addition, the outcomes imply that the experts replying to the survey not only expect the expansion of emerging market, but also concern the social risk and cost. Since the study dealt with economic, social and business issues in providing 5G service, it might contribute not only to practical research, but also to academic research regarding 5G service method.
A new resource management algorithm is proposed for 5G networks which have a coordinated network architecture. By sharing the contol information among multiple neighbor cells and managing in centralized structure, the propsed algorithm fully utilizes the benefits of network coordination to increase fairness and throughput at the same time. This optimization of network performance is achieved while operating within a tolerable amount of signaling overhead and computational complexity. Simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme improve the network capacity up to 40% for cell edge users and provide network-wise fairness as much as 23% in terms of the well-knwon Jain's Fainess Index.
