A Comparison of BER Performance for Receivers of NOMA in 5G Mobile Communication System (5G 이동 통신 시스템에서 비직교 다중접속의 수신기들에 대한 BER 성능의 비교)

  • In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, the mobile services require 100 times faster connections. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In NOMA, the users share the channel resources, so that the more users can be served simultaneously. There are several advantages offered by NOMA, such as higher spectrum efficiency and low transmission latency, compared to orthogonal multiple access (OMA), which is usually used in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks, for example, long term evolution (LTE). In this paper, we compare the receivers for NOMA. The standard NOMA receiver, the non-SIC NOMA receiver, and the symmetric superposition coding (SC) NOMA receiver are compared. Specifically, it is shown that the performance of the standard receiver is the best, whereas the performances of the non-SIC receiver and symmetric SC receiver are dependent on the power allocation.

  • This paper presents an energy harvester using piezoelectric elements that is a kind of generator which converts the mechanical power to the electric one using windmill system with many PZT actuators. In this study, low frequency characteristics of the cantilever-type piezoelectric actuator are experimentally investigated. Advantages of the cantilever use are to take a very large displacement and to improve the endurance of the PZT element. The material of cantilever is an aluminum and three kinds of cantilever of which size is $150[mm]{\times}20[mm]{\times}1.5[mm]$, $170[mm]{\times}20[mm]{\times}1.5[mm]$ and $190[mm]{\times}20[mm]{\times}1.5[mm]$ were experimented, respectively. The cantilever was fixed on the vibrator. The characteristics of frequency and mass variation of cantilever end part such as 0[g], 5[g], 10[g] are investigated. Maximum voltage was outputted at the condition of $150[mm]{\times}20[mm]{\times}1.5[mm]$ and 10[g] of mass. It was confirmed that the lower natural frequency at the larger length of cantilever and at the bigger of mass is gotten.

  • A compact dual-band(IEEE 802.11b: 2.4~2.5 GHz, 11a: 5.15~5.825 GHz) 2-channel MIMO antenna for PMP applications is presented. The proposed antenna is composed of a planar inverted F-shape antenna(PIFA) operating at 2 GHz band and a loop antenna operating at 5 GHz band. The proposed antenna is orthogonally arranged at the edge of the ground plane for polarization and pattern diversities with excellent isolation characteristics. The two PIFA antennas operating 2 GHz have connecting line($\lambda_g$/4) face to the feed point for high isolation and low correlation at 2 GHz band. The two loop antennas connected each other in the bottom side to improve the isolation at 5 GHz band. The proposed antenna has a sufficient gain in WLAN service band and is compact sized for the portable media player (PMP) applications.

  • Electromagnetic topology (EMT) technique is a method to analyze each component of the electromagnetic propagation environment and combine them in the form of a network in order to effectively model the complex propagation environment. In a typical commercial communication channel model, since the propagation environment is complex and difficult to predict, a probabilistic propagation channel model that utilizes an average solution, although with low accuracy, is used. However, modeling techniques using EMT technique are considered for application of propagation and coupling analysis of threat electromagnetic waves such as electromagnetic pulses, radio wave models used in electronic warfare, local communication channel models used in 5G and 6G communications that require relatively high accuracy electromagnetic wave propagation characteristics. This paper describes the effective implementation method, algorithm, and program implementation of the electromagnetic topology (EMT) method analyzed in the frequency domain. Also, a method of deriving a response in the time domain to an arbitrary applied signal source with respect to the EMT analysis result in the frequency domain will be discussed.

  • LSP(Line Spectrum Pairs) Parameter is used for speech analysis in vocoders or recognizers since it has advantages of constant spectrum sensitivity. low spectrum distortion and easy linear interpolation. However the method of transforming LPC(Linear Predictive Coding) into LSP is so complex that it takes much time to compute. Among conventional methods, the real root method is considerably simpler than others, but nevertheless, it still suffers from its jndeterministic computation time because the root searching is processed sequentially in frequency region. We suggest a method of reducing the LSP transformation time using voice characteristics The proposed method is to apply search order and interval differently according to the distribution of LSP parameters. in comparison with the conventional real root method, the proposed method results in about 46.5% reduction. And, the total computation time is reduce to about 5% in the G.723.1 vocoder.

  • 본 논문에서는 백라이트로 사용되는 CCFL의 점등을 위한 인버터를 연구대상으로 하였다. CCFL의 고전압 점등을 위해 다층 longitudinal 모드구조의 압전세라믹을 이용하였다. CCFL의 점등은 공진특성을 이용하는 것이므로 기계적인 공진주파수와 스위칭 주파수가 거의 일치할 수 있도록 L-C공진회로를 설계하였다. 인버터의 토플로지는 플라이백 기법을 적용하였으며 이를 위해서 권선의 배치에 의해 손실을 고려한 고주파 트랜스포머를 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과를 통하여 이에 대한 타당성을 입증하였다. 이로부터 공진주파수 48[kHz], 점등전압 600[V] 및 점등전류 6[mA] 얻었으며, 적용된 CCFL 램프사양은 관직경 $2.2{\phi}$와 관길이 314[mm], 압전세라믹 $43{\times}5.5{\times}2.3[mm]$를 이용하였다.

Studies of Magnetic Properties of Ni-Zn-Cu Ferrite with Low Loss and High Permeability (저손질, 고투자율을 갖는 Ni-Zn-Cu ferrite의 자기적 특성 연구)

  • We have studied on the magnetic properties of the specimen with additives Bi$_2$O$_3$and$V_2O_5$ that sintered at 900 $^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours for sybthesizing optimal Ni-Zn-Cu ferrite. Curie temperature rises from 240 $^{\circ}C$ to 270 $^{\circ}C$ as Ni contents increase. Magentic maximum induction$(B_m)$ increases from 2650 G to 3300 G, 3500 G in the specimens with $V_2O_5$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$resectively. On the contrary coercive force $(H_c)$ lowers to 2.05 Oe~1.05 Oe. Permeability all increase in the specimen with additives. In the specimen with additive Bi$_2$O$_3$, we have obtained the low relative loss factor of $6.3{\times}10^{-5}~7.84{\times}10^{-5}$ in the range of 1MHz due to increase of resistivity in grain boundary. In the specimen with additive $V_2O_5$ in spite of increase permeability relative loss factor increase of due to decrease of Q-value.

  • This paper presents performance comparison of several high-resolution frequency estimation algorithms for pure real tone signal. Algorithms are DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform - for reference purpose), Jacobsen, Candan, reassignment and Cedron. Each algorithm is evaluated under various experimental conditions, e.g., different SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), window function and window length and performance is compared in the perspective of bias, MSE (Mean Square-Error) and variance. Experimental results indicate that Cedron algorithms works well in the most cases. For actual usage in the engineering problem, each algorithm needs additional analysis and modification.

Measurement and Analysis of Clutter Loss in Urban/Suburban below 24 GHz (24 GHz 이하 도심/부도심의 클러터 손실 측정 및 분석)

  • Recently, measurements on clutter loss due to buildings in urban/suburban areas at 3, 6, 10, 18, and 24 GHz have been performed by the Radio Research Agency with the purpose of predicting the clutter loss close to actual urban/suburban propagation for 5G mobile communication. In this work, we have compared the urban clutter loss to suburban clutter loss for a transmit antenna height of 85 m. Furthermore, we have estimated the error between the predicted loss as per ITU-R P.2108 and the measured clutter loss. Our results indicate that for higher frequencies, the measured clutter loss in urban/suburban areas is higher and so lower than the predicted clutter loss. In conclusion, it is necessary to improve the prediction model for clutter loss by taking into account the measured clutter loss in urban/suburban areas in the prediction model.

  • Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has high peak to power ratio (PAPR). High PAPR makes problems such as signal distortion and circuit cost increasing. To solve the problemsm several PAPR reduction methods have been proposed. However, synchronization and orthogonality in OFDM systems may be a limitation to reduce latency for 5G networks. Generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) is one of the possible solutions for asynchronous and non-orthogonal systems, which are more preferable to reduce the latency. However, multiple subsymbols in GFDM result in more superposition in time domain, GFDM has higher PAPR. Selective mapping (SLM) is one of PAPR reduction techniques in OFDM, which uses phase shift. The PAPR of GFDM SLM is compared to conventional GFDM and OFDM SLM in terms of PAPR reduction enhancement via numerical simulations. In addition, the out-of-band performance is analyzed in the aspect of asynchronous condition interference.
