In this review, lipid A, from its discovery to recent findings, is presented as a drug target and therapeutic molecule. First, the biosynthetic pathway for lipid A, the Raetz pathway, serves as a good drug target for antibiotic development. Several assay methods used to screen for inhibitors of lipid A synthesis will be presented, and some of the promising lead compounds will be described. Second, utilization of lipid A biosynthetic pathways by various bacterial species can generate modified lipid A molecules with therapeutic value.

Among varieties of the mediastinal tumors, benign developmental cysts [Entergenous cysts] occur about 10% of them. From the primitive foregut, tracheobronchial tree and esophagus develop at 3 weeks of its embryonal age, and bronchogenic cyst arises from accessory or supernumerary lung bud. Usually it remains isolated with surrounding structures, and causes no specific symptoms. But few cases of bronchogenic cysts have fistulous communication with esophagus causing compressive symptoms. We report a case of unusual complicated case of bronchogenic cyst with review of literatures.

The densified mixture design algorithm (DMDA) was employed to manufacture high-performance lightweight concrete (LWAC) using silt dredged from reservoirs in southern Taiwan. Dredged silt undergoing hydration and high-temperature sintering was made into a lightweight aggregate for concrete mixing. The workability and durability of the resulting concrete were examined. The LWAC made from dredged silt had high flowability, which implies good workability. Additionally, the LWAC also had good compressive strength and anti-corrosion properties, high surface electrical resistivity and ultrasonic pulse velocity as well as low chloride penetration, all of which are indicators of good durability.

A terrestrial cave snail (Gastropoda: Subulinidae), Sinistras chois n. gen., n. sp., from the Gungi-cave in Jeju Island, South Korea represents a monotypic genus, and is proposed as a new genus in the family Subulinidae. Diagnostic features of the genus include a sinistral shell, that has a minute-sized, elongate conic-shaped, apical microsculpture with low tubercles. The chromosome number and karyotype are 2n=56 and 8M+15SM+5ST, respectively.

디지털 기술의 발전은 디지털 미디어의 발달을 가져왔고 이는 곧 디지털 미디어의 다양한 영역 확장으로 이어졌다. 기존 미디어의 한계를 벗어난 다양한 시도들은 새로운 패러다임을 만들어 내며 하나의 미디어 영역을 구축해 나아가고 있다. 그런 영역 중에 하나인 Facade projection은 현실 공간이나 인위적 공간에 프로젝터로 이미지나 영상을 투영하여 공간의 디지털화, 가상현실, 착시와 같은 효과들을 만들어 내며 미디어 작품이나 상업적인 미디어로서의 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 본 연구는 Facade projection에 사용되어지는 디지털 이미지나 영상들이 어떤 방식으로 만들어지고 있는지 사례분석과 그 과정을 연구 분석하고자 한다.

We give a constructive proof that a (partial) evaluation of a multivariate algebraic function with algebraic numbers is again an algebraic function. Especially, we obtain a bound on the degree of an evaluation with the degrees of the original algebraic function and the algebraic numbers evaluated. Furthermore, we show that our bound is sharp with an example.

최근 인터넷쇼핑몰은 판매자 중심에서 구매자 중심으로 변화하고 있으며, 새로운 사용자 경험(User Experience)의 요구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 표준 및 접근성을 고려하여 사용성(Usability)과 효율성을 기반으로 상호작용하는 동적인 Web Application 기술을 적용하여 새로운 사용자 경험(User Experience)을 제공하고 전자상거래의 새로운 패러다임을 제시할 수 있는 사용자(구매자) 및 관리자(판매자)의 동적인 유저인터페이스(UI : User Interface)가 가능한 Web Application을 제언 하는 데에 그 목적이 있다.

As FPD technology is getting improved, there are a lot of issues on signal processing and analysis, and its relative importance has been increasing day by day. In particular, response time sad in the evaluation item of FPD has been measured by oscilloscope. In this paper, we propose an effective measurement method of response time in FPD. The proposed method is to calculate the rising/ falling time by using statistical techniques of histogram and analyzing an energy distribution. Ultimately, the method has proved the utility and reliability by comparison of oscilloscope

A total of 2,510 police personnel aged 20-59 were examined to determine the prosthodontic demands. The results were as follows. 1. Prosthodontic demands increase with aging. 2. Periodontic problem is the major cause of the prosthodontic needs in old personnel. 3. Trauma is the more popular cause of the prosthodontic need than periodontal problem in policeman. 4. The major cause of the untreatment is the lacks of time. 5. The younger persons have more fear of dental treatment. 6. Prostodontic demands show declining trends.

The weighted median hybrid filters are proposed. These filters take weighting factors in calculating the output of subfilters of median hybrid filters. The properties of weighted median hybrid filters are analysed and compared to the conventional median filter. The results indicate that these filters preserve details of edge better than and are computationally much more efficient than conventional median filter.
