제주산 우뭇가사리로 부터 추출한 한천용액의 유동특성 (Rheological Properties of Agar Solution from Cheju Seaweed, Gellidium amansii)

  • 온도변화에 따라 상태가 변하는 가역적 교질특성과 강한 gel화능으로 식품첨가물 뿐만 아니라 공업적으로 널리 쓰이는 한천을 식품산업에서 신소재로서 기능성물질로 개발하기 위하여 제주 우도산 우뭇가사리로 부터 한천을 열수 추출하여 유동학적 특성을 검토하였다. 한천용액은 비뉴우톤 유체로서 농도가 높아짐에 따라 pseudoplastic특성을 강하게 나타내었으며, 한천용액의 유동특성값으로 유동성지수는 $0.5\~5\%$의 범위에서 $80^{\circ}C,\;60^{\circ}C$$50^{\circ}C$에서 각각 $0.62\~0.69,\;0.46\~0.67$$0.34\~0.64$이였으며, 농도의 증가에 따라 감소 하였다. 그리고 점조도지수는 $0.12\~1.26\;Pa{\cdot}s^n,\;0.12\~7.28\;Pa{\cdot}s^n$$3.9\~19952.6\;Pa{\cdot}s^n$이였고, 농도가 증가할수록 그 값이 증가하였다. 점조도지수의 농도의존성은 한천농도 $2\%$를 경계로 기울기가 서로 다른 두개의 직선관계를 보였으며, 온도의존성은 Arrhenius식에 잘 따랐으며, 한천용액의 농도 $0.5\~5\%$ 범위에서 활성화에너지는 $0.09\~13.51\;Kcal/g{\cdot}mol$이였다.

부산 지역 주민들의 김치 구매 및 섭취 선호도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Preference for Purchase and Ingestion of Kimchi among Busan Residents)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the preference for purchase and ingestion of Korean traditional food Kimchi among the different age groups in order to find a way to increase Kimchi consumption. The result of a questionnaire is from 51 male respondents(14.6%) and 299 female ones(85%). This indicates that most of the female respondents buy Kimchi. Second, 61.7% of the respondents have experience purchasing ready-made Kimchi. Third, the most preferred purchase place of Kimchi is a big mart or a department store. Fourth, the important factors of purchasing come nutrition, price, brand, color or package in that order. Also, 60.9% of respondents show that they "should eat Kimchi". Fifth, the reason of eating Kimchi is taste in the age groups under 20s and 30s and above 50s. Lastly, the analysis on the importance of ingestion shows as follows: respondents in their 20s are 57 persons(16.3%), 30s 59(16.9%), 40s 162(46.3%), and 50s 72(20.6%), showing 40s the highest among them.

수열합성된 황화아연 나노입자의 소결 압력에 따른 중적외선향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Enhancement of MIR Transmittance of Hydrothermally Synthesized ZnS Nanoparticles with Sintering Pressure)

  • This study investigated the influence of various sintering pressures of ZnS nanoparticles prepared by hydrothermal synthesis performed at 220 ℃ for 20 h. The hydrothermally synthesized ZnS nanoparticles formed a cubic phase. The ZnS nanoparticles were sintered using a hot-press process at 850 ℃ for 2 h under pressures of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 MPa. The ZnS ceramics indicate the cubic phase is the major phase and the hexagonal phase is the minor phase. In the ZnS ceramics, as the sintering pressure increased, a decrement in the hexagonal phase was confirmed. When the sintering pressure equaled or exceeded 30 MPa, the transmittance and density improved with reductions in porosity and hexagonal phase. A sintering pressure of 60 MPa delivered the highest transmittance (69.7%).

Conditions for Preparing Glycyrrhiza uralensis Extract for Inhibiting Biofilm Formation of Streptococcus mutans

  • Licorice, which has an extensive history of use as an herbal medicine, has been suggested to have oral health benefits. However, to date, no systematic study has been conducted on the preparation method of licorice extracts for oral health. In this study, licorice extracts prepared using water and ethanol were investigated for its ability to inhibit the biofilm formation of Streptococcus mutans. The licorice extract prepared with around 60% ethanol effectively inhibited the biofilm formation of S. mutans. Licorice extracted with 50% ethanol almost completely inhibited the biofilm formation at 1.5 g/L of licorice extract. This inhibitory activity was confirmed in a microplate assay and a flow cell system. Glycyrrhetic acid was extracted from licorice effectively with 60% ethanol concentration. The strong inhibitory activity of glycyrrhetic acid and the synergistic inhibition with glycyrrhizin on biofilm formation were suggested as major reasons for a concentration-specific extraction. These results suggest that licorice extract prepared using around 60% ethanol effectively inhibits the biofilm formation of S. mutans.

기후변화 연구에 관한 한국기상학회 60년사 (60 Years of Korean Meteorological Society on Climate Change)

  • This paper aims to examine from various perspectives how domestic research studies and projects related to climate change have been conducted to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean Meteorological Society (KMS). The 『50-year History of the Korean Meteorological Society』, published more than a decade ago, has never dealt with the history of development of individual fields of meteorology such as climate change. Therefore, it is of significance to look at the history of research activities and studies achieved by KMS members in the area of climate change over the past 60 years. The research on climate change in KMS is classified by era from the beginning to the latest and the contents are examined by major research projects at that time. During the past 60 years, climatological research in KMS has been mainly focused on general climate, synoptic climate, and applied climate (urban climate) until the 2000s. However, since the 1990s, climate change has become an important area for climate research. The 2000s are the beginning era of climate change research, since the major projects and researches for climate change has begun in the period. The 2010s can be a time when climate change prediction and monitoring are expanded and refined to meet the rapidly increasing demands for climate information from a wide range of areas. We concluded that the development of the research capabilities of the society over the past 60 years, in particular in the past two decades, in the field of climate change research is remarkable.

노화와 요통에 따른 요추부 추간판 크기 변화 (The Change of Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Size on Aging and Low Back Pain)

  • 과거로부터 사회 경제학적인 문제로 주목을 받고 있는 요통은 노화와 유의한 관계가 있음이 보고되고 있으며, 이러한 노화에 의해 추간판의 여러 형태 조직학적 변화도 이미 여러 연구를 통해 보고되었으나 노화에 따른 추간판의 크기 변화에 대한 연구와 이러한 추간판의 변화가 요통과 관련이 있는지에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지고 있지 않고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 노화에 의한 추간판 변인의 변화를 알아보고, 이런 요인들이 정상 피검자와 요통 환자 사이에 차이가 있는지를 MRI 실계측에 의해 알아보고자 수행하였다. 본 연구는 근골격계 질환이 없는 20대$\sim$60대의 정상 성인 50명과 $20{\sim}60$대 요통 환자 50명을 대상으로 L4-5, L5-S1 추간판의 가로 직경, 세로 직경 그리고 면적을 MRI 영상을 통해 실계측하여 노화에 따른 변화와 정상 피검자와 요통 환자 사이의 차이를 비교하는 방식으로 진행하였다. 본 연구 결과 L4-5와 L5-S1 추간판의 가로 및 세로 직경, 면적은 노화에 의해 의미 있는 증가 경향을 보였으며 정상 피검자에 비해 요통 환자의 추간판 변인들이 큰 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 추간판의 크기 변화는 노화에 의한 자발적인 변화이며, 요통 환자의 추간판 변인 증가를 요통 진단에 참조할 수 있는 자료로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 사료되나, 차후 광범위한 피검자를 대상으로 하는 보다 폭넓고 다각적인 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다.

압박의류 착용에 의한 신체변화 연구 (Effect of Wearing Compression Clothing on Body Shape)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of compression clothing on the body shape of the human subjects. Thirty seven healthy females being overweighted with local adiposity on the buttocks and legs between the ages of 20's to 50's were used as the human subjects for the study. The selected subjects wore the compression clothing during 60 days by 8 hours a day. At the start(T0), after 30(T30) and after 60 days of treatment(T60), a cutaneous echography was measured on the right trochanter area of each volunteer in order to assess the thickness of the subcutaneous fatty tissue. At the start(T0), after 30(T30) and after 60 days of treatment(T60), the body weight of each volunteer was taken and the instrumental variations of skinfold measurements of the abdominal fold and inner thigh circumference of the waist, hips and thigh were conducted. The results show that the echography and weight loss of subjects were reduced to 8.34% and 2.08% after 60 days, respectively. Moreover, the skinfold of subjects was also reduced. Finally, skin elastometry of subjects increased.

중년기 이후의 주거공간 규모에 영향을 미치는 특성 (Influential Factors on Size of Residential Space in Later Life)

  • This study has been performed to analyze size and deficit problem of residential space in later life. In this study, 216 Koreans aged 50 to 79 were surveyed for their current residential space ad family related items such as age, marital status, living arrangement, birth order, and housing status. The results are drawn as follows: 1. The space size significantly fluctuates by marital status, number of generations living together, tenure, and structure type; For example, use of indoor area per person ranges from 7.01 pyoung for three-generation households to 19.53 for one-generation households. 2. s for space deficit, very old widowed females, 60's living in rented or multi-family housing units, and those living in three generations are high risk groups of the space deficit below 7 young per person. In this study, further researches are recommended as follows; Regarding the highest risk group of space deficit, life styles causing space-related conflicts should be studied, and accordingly proper welfare services for the causal life styles be offered. Housing maintenance & utility costs be investigated and guidelines should be proposed for any surplus groups among the 60's, so that their space surplus can be reduced by suitable adjustment process.

담수조류의 대량번식에 따른 피해를 최소화하기 위한 녹조제거기 개발 (The development of algae removal system to minimize the damage of algae bloom on freshwater)

  • 본 연구는 담수조류의 대량 번식에 따른 정수장의 여과막 박힘, 어류의 대량폐사 등 각종 피해를 최소화하기 위하여 응집제를 이용한 응집-여과공정을 녹조제거시스템에 적용하기 위한 것이다. 응집-여과 공정에서 최적의 응집상태를 결정하기 위하여 시료로는 낙동강 원수를 사용하였고 Jar test와 실험실용 반응기를 사용하여 알칼리도, 탁도, Chl-a, pH를 측정하였다. 응집시간, 응집제 주입량, 드럼필터 회전속도 그리고 Chl-a는 각각 5min, 5mg/l, 3rpm 그리고 90㎍/l의 조건에서 높은 조류제거율을 보였다. Alum을 사용하였을 때의 조류 및 탁도 평균제거율은 50~60%, 30~50%이었고, PAC는 Chl-a의 제거율이 Alum보다 약 20% 더 좋은 효율을 보였다.

정상 노인의 연령에 따른 철자 산출 특성 (Characteristics of Orthographic Retrieval with Age in the Elderly)

  • Many studies have reported an age-related decline in the ability to spell words correctly. The aim of this study was to investigate the deterioration on retrieving orthographic knowledge in 64 normal elderly Korean persons. The subjects were 64 in total: they were composed of 22 persons in their 50s, 20 persons in their 60s, and 22 persons in their 70s or older. We instructed them to write from a dictation of 60 words stimuli (20 regular words, 20 irregular words, 20 nonwords). Older adults made more errors than younger adults, and the age-related decline in performance was greater for irregular than regular and nonwords. With respect to the error pattern in the irregular words, the subjects showed more phonological plausible errors than phonological implausible errors. The number of self-correction was high in nonwords. Based on the results, we found that aging differentially affects the retrieval of orthographic knowledge on regular, irregular and nonwords.
