Two-Phase Hybrid Forward Convertor with Series-Parallel Auto-Regulated Transformer Windings and a Common Output Inductor

  • For conventional interleaved two-phase forward converters with a common output inductor, the maximum duty cycle is 0.5, which limits the voltage range and increases the difficulty of the transformer's optimization. A new two-phase hybrid forward converter with series-parallel auto-regulated transformer windings is presented in this paper. With interleaved control signals for the two phases, the secondary windings of the transformers can work in series when the duty cycle is larger than 0.5, and they can work in parallel when duty cycle is lower than 0.5. Therefore, the maximum duty cycle is extended and the turns ratio of the transformer can be optimized. Duty cycle dependent auto-regulated windings result in the steady states of the converter being different in different duty cycle ranges (D>0.5 and D<0.5). Fortunately, the steady state gains of the proposed hybrid converter are identical at different duty cycle ranges, which means a stepless shift between two states. A prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis. A conventional control loop is compatible for the whole input voltage range and load range thanks to the stepless shifting between the different duty cycle ranges.

Atomic Layer Deposition and Characterization of Tantalum Oxide Films Using Ta(OC2H5)5 and $\textrm{NH}_3$ ($\textrm{Ta}(\textrm{OC}_{2}\textrm{H}_{5})_{5}$$\textrm{NH}_3$를 이용한 산화탄탈륨 막의 원자층 증착 및 특성)

  • Ta(OC2H5)5와 NH3를 이용하여 Cycle-CVD법으로 산화탄탈륨 막을 증착하였다. Cycle-CVD법에서는 Ta(OC2H5)5와 NH3사이에 불활성 기체를 주입한다. 하나의 cycle은 Ta(OC2H5)5주입, Ar주입, NH3 주입, Ar 주입의 네 단계로 이루어진다. Cycle-CVD법으로 산화탄탈륨 막을 증착할 때, 온도 $250-280^{\circ}C$에서 박막의 증착 기구는 원자층 증착(Atomic Layer Deposition:ALD)이었다. $265^{\circ}C$에서 Ta(OC2H5)5:Ar:NH3:Ar:NH3:Ar의 한 cycle에서 각 단계의 주입 시간을 1-60초:5초:5초:5초로 Ta(OC2H5)5 주입 시간을 변화시키면서 산화탄탈륨 막을 Cycle-CVD법으로 증착하였다. Ta(OC2H5)5주입시간이 증가하여도 cycle 당 두께가 $1.5\AA$/cycle로 일정하였다. $265^{\circ}C$에서 증착된 박막의 누설 전류는 2MV/cm에서 2x10-2A/$\textrm{cm}^2$이었고 열처리후의 산화탄탈륨 막의 누설 전류값은 $10-4A\textrm{cm}^2$ 이하고 감소하였다. 증착한 산화탄탈륨 막의 성분을 Auger 전자 분광법으로 분석하였다. 2$65^{\circ}C$에서 증착한 막의 성분은 탄탈륨 33at%, 산소 50at%, 탄소 5at%, 질소 12at% 이었으며 90$0^{\circ}C$, O2300torr에서 10분 동안 열처리한 박막은 탄탈륨 33at%, 산소 60wt%, 탄소 4at%, 질소 3at%이었다. 박막의 열처리 온도가 높을수록 불순물인 탄소와 질소의 박막 내 잔류량이 감소하였다. 열처리 후의 박막은 O/Ta 화학정량비가 증가하였으며 Ta의 4f7/5와 4f 5/2의 결합 강도가 열처리 전 박막보다 증가하였다. 열처리 후 누설 전류가 감소하는 것은 불순물 감소와 화학정량비 개선 및 Ta-O 결합 강도의증가에 의한 것으로 생각된다.

The Method for Colorizing SAR Images of Kompsat-5 Using Cycle GAN with Multi-scale Discriminators (다양한 크기의 식별자를 적용한 Cycle GAN을 이용한 다목적실용위성 5호 SAR 영상 색상 구현 방법)

  • Kompsat-5 is the first Earth Observation Satellite which is equipped with an SAR in Korea. SAR images are generated by receiving signals reflected from an object by microwaves emitted from a SAR antenna. Because the wavelengths of microwaves are longer than the size of particles in the atmosphere, it can penetrate clouds and fog, and high-resolution images can be obtained without distinction between day and night. However, there is no color information in SAR images. To overcome these limitations of SAR images, colorization of SAR images using Cycle GAN, a deep learning model developed for domain translation, was conducted. Training of Cycle GAN is unstable due to the unsupervised learning based on unpaired dataset. Therefore, we proposed MS Cycle GAN applying multi-scale discriminator to solve the training instability of Cycle GAN and to improve the performance of colorization in this paper. To compare colorization performance of MS Cycle GAN and Cycle GAN, generated images by both models were compared qualitatively and quantitatively. Training Cycle GAN with multi-scale discriminator shows the losses of generators and discriminators are significantly reduced compared to the conventional Cycle GAN, and we identified that generated images by MS Cycle GAN are well-matched with the characteristics of regions such as leaves, rivers, and land.

  • Due to the environmental problems caused by the greenhouse effect, regulation of $CO_2$ emissions is getting stronger day by day. In paricular, regulations of automobiles $CO_2$ emissions are being strengthen. However, existing $CO_2$ measurement methods do not reflect the environment and operating conditions on actual roads. Emissions of $CO_2$ can be increased by various conditions such as environmental condition(temperature and humidity) and driver's tendency(aggressive and passive). Therefore it is necessary to reflect the conditions of various actual roads such as 5-cycle test method on behalf of the existing $CO_2$ emission measurement method. The 5-cycle measurement method has five test modes; FTP-75, HWFET, US06, SC03, Cold FTP-75. The method reflects the following three environments and operating conditions as compared to conventional method; Using heater at low temperature, Aggressive driving such as rapid acceleration or deceleration, Using air conditioner at high temperature. Because of these various conditions of each test cycle, the 5-cycle method can reflect actual environments and operating conditions. This paper attempt to analyze $CO_2$ emission characteristics based on the results measured through the 5-cycle mode and develop the correction formula that can derive the results of the 5-cycle test method using existing test methods. As a result, the developed correction formula is expected to reduce $CO_2$ emissions and cut down expense for testing 5-cycle mode.

  • Gartner's Hype Cycle model is widely used to describe technology maturity, acceptability, and commercialization. In the Hype Cycle model, the techniques go through five stages, those are Innovation Trigger(first stage), stage Peak of Inflated Expectations(second stage), Trough of Disillusionment(third stage), Slope of Enlightenment(fourth stage) and Plateau of Productivity(fifth stage). In many studies, Hype Cycle is widely used as a basis for future prediction of technology, but the verification is somewhat lacking. In this paper, we analyzed the technologies that appeared in the Hype Cycle for the emerging technologies from 1995 to 2017. Through this, we found technologies that appeared as non first stage when first appearing, and techniques that showed a reversal of the maturity stage. In addition, we found that none of the technologies from 1995 to 2017 had gone through stages 1-5.

  • Ovarian cycle, marsupial development and molt cycle of Archaeomysis kokuboi were studied to understand these processes as a whole event. Based on morphological characters the marsupial development is divided into 3 stages, Embryonic stage (duration time of 4 days), Nauplioid stage (5 days) and Postnauplioid stage (4 days). Morphological description was ma de for the 3 stages, and each stage was examined in relation to the corresponding stages of ovarian cycle and molt cycle.

  • The closed cycle diesel system is operated in closed circuit system where there is non air breathing with working fluid consists of combination of oxygen, argon and recycled exhaust gas far obtaining underwater or underground power sources. Experimental apparatus using the MTU8V183SE92 high pressurized engine adapted for closed cycle running, capable of operating at the system pressure of maximum 5 bar is constructed with ACAP as data acquisition system in order to operate equally in the open cycle in surface or the closed cycle in submerged conditions. The general features and the characteristics of combustion of HP(high pressure) diesel engine, specially designed and manufactured only for CCDE, are investigated. The test results of performance of HP diesel engine in closed cycle system are presented with respect to power and boost pressure and compared with those of low pressure diesel engine. A 0.5-2.0 GHz Dual-Loop SAR-controlled Duty-Cycle Corrector Using a Mixed Search Algorithm

  • This paper presents a fast-lock dual-loop successive approximation register-controlled duty-cycle corrector (SARDCC) circuit using a mixed (binary+sequential) search algorithm. A wider duty-cycle correction range, higher operating frequency, and higher duty-cycle correction accuracy have been achieved by utilizing the dual-loop architecture and the binary search SAR that achieves the fast duty-cycle correcting property. By transforming the binary search SAR into a sequential search counter after the first DCC lock-in, the proposed dual-loop SARDCC keeps the closed-loop characteristic and tracks variations in process, voltage, and temperature (PVT). The measured duty cycle error is less than ${\pm}0.86%$ for a wide input duty-cycle range of 15-85 % over a wide frequency range of 0.5-2.0 GHz. The proposed dual-loop SARDCC is fabricated in a 0.18-${\mu}m$, 1.8-V CMOS process and occupies an active area of $0.075mm^2$.

  • Fuel economy label will be used as a national indicator in energy management, leading to the development of car technology manufacturer and plays a role in providing consumer vehicle purchase information. But the government's fuel economy label is continued consumer complaint is different and diminishing fuel economy were introduced by the government to measure the exact fuel economy label than resetting the 5-cycle test method in the US for the domestic vehicle standards. Originally two test mode in order to reduce the impact of the sharp increase in the resources required but methods of calculating a measured result value by driving all of the five test mode a variety of environmental conditions and the running pattern is reflected to the fuel economy label (city( FTP-75 mode), highway(HWFET mode)) and using 5-cycle correction formula for calculating a fuel consumption value and the equivalent value to calculate the result of the 5-cycle test. The compensation was calculated expression 30s, 5-Cycle Test Method of vehicles in 2011 was considered necessary to review the existing 5-cycle correction formula for the New Type car due to the recent rapid development of automotive technology. In this study, recent technology is targeting 14 units New Type car applied over the same test method and the existing check test mode specific fuel economy properties and, as a result of analyzing the corrected expression differences that have already been developed with the existing test vehicle resulting large did not show the difference was found to correction formula also not getting the existing fuel correction expression significant effect on the improvement of the current automobile technology as a maximum error of less than 1.5%.

Performance Analysis of a Combined Cycle of Kalina and Absorption Refrigeration for Recovery of Low-Temperature Heat Source (저온 열원의 활용을 위한 칼리나/흡수냉동 복합사이클의 성능 해석)

  • Recently, the power and refrigeration cogeneration based on Kalina cycle has attracted much attention for more efficient utilization of low-grade energy. This study presents a thermodynamic performance analysis of a cogeneration cycle of power and absorption refrigeration based on Kalina cycle. The cycle combines Kalina cycle (KCS-11) and absorption cycles by adding a condenser and an evaporator between turbine and absorber. The effects of ammonia mass fraction and separation pressure were investigated on the system performance of the system. Results showed that the energy utilization of the system could be greatly improved compared to the basic Kalina cycle.
