Collaborative Visualization of Warfare Simulation using a Commercial Game Engine (상업용 게임 엔진을 활용한 전투 시뮬레이션 결과의 협업 가시화)

  • The needs for reusable 3D visualization tool has been being raised in various industries. Especially in the defense modeling and simulation (M&S) domain, there are abundant researches about reusable and interoperable visualization system, since it has a critical role to the efficient decision making by offering diverse validation and analyzing processes. To facilitate the effectiveness, states-of-the-arts M&S systems are applying VR (Virtual Reality) or AR (Augmented Reality) technologies. To reduce the work burden authors design a collaborative visualization environment based on a commercial game engine Unity3D. We define the requirements of the warfare simulation by analyzing pros and cons of existing tools and engines such as SIMDIS or Vega, and apply functionalities of the commercial game engine to satisfy the requirements. A prototype has been implemented as the collaborative visualization environment of iCAVE at KAIST, which is a facility for immersive virtual environment. The facility is intraoperative with smart devices.

  • Experiments using real guided weapons for the development of the LADAR(Laser radar) are not practical. Therefore, we need computing environment that can simulate the 3D detections by LADAR. Such simulations require dealing with large sized data representing buildings and terrain over large area. And they also need the information of 3D target objects, for example, material and echo rate of building walls. However, currently used 3D models are mostly focused on visualization maintained as file-based formats and do not contain such semantic information. In this study, as a solution to these problems, a method to use a spatial DBMS and a 3D model suitable for LADAR simulation is suggested. The 3D models found in previous studies are developed to serve different purposes, thus, it is not easy to choose one among them which is optimized for LADAR simulation. In this study, 4 representative 3D models are first defined, each of which are tested for different performance scenarios. As a result, one model, "Body-Face", is selected as being the most suitable model for the simulation. Using this model, a test simulation is carried out.

A Study on the Performance of Digital Subscriber Line in Gaussian and Far-end Crosstalk Noises Environment Using Semi-analytic Simulation (Semi-analytic 시뮬레이션을 이용한 가우스 및 원단누화 잡음환경에서의 디지털가입자라인의 BER 성능에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we have evaluated BER performance of digital subscriber line(DSL) using the twisted-pair channel model by means of Semi-analytic simulation technique. As a result, it was known that the Semi-analytic simulation was proved to be a good technique because of the attenuation of 0.5dB. To keep the BER=10$\^$-7/, 4dB of E$\^$b//N$\^$0/ is needed more when the DSL length extends to 5000m, while 2dB increase of E$\^$b//N$\^$0/ is required when Nyquist frequency goes to 512kb/s with the keeping same distance. In addition, the effect by FEXT noise is serious, when the FEXT noise damping constant, k is over 10/sup-10/ in DSL length and 10$\^$-14/ in the aspect of Nyquist frequency. As the basic, results of this analysis can be used in setting in internal and external standardization of DSL system in the future.

  • A key use of applying building information modeling (BIM) to the construction stage of a project is to help identify construction obstacles and to visualize construction status according to the progress of the construction schedule. When employing 4D simulation for this purpose, start and finish dates for each activity and a 3D model of the activity must be prepared. In this work, in order to simplify the configuration of a 4D model, minimum attribute information of the BIM model produced in the design stage was used to construct a system that generated activity information in the construction stage using a clustering algorithm. Its usefulness as actual schedule management information was then analyzed.

  • In this paper, Dualband meander microstrip antenna is proposed for Wireless Body Area Network application. Designed antenna is mounted on the phantom to maintain a constant distance of the substrate, and studied the characteristics related to change in several meaningful parameters to improve performance. Characteristics of antenna, returnloss, radiation pattern, gain, bandwidth, are analyzed using Computer Simulation Technologes(CST) software. The proposed antenna operates at 4.33Ghz and 6.09GHz ~ 9.88GHz for UWB. The antenna showed that returnloss and -10dB bandwidth are -42.30dB and 410Mhz at 4.33GHz, maximum -29.11dB and 3.75GHz at 6.1GHz ~ 9.8GHz.

  • 스마트시티 하천관리를 위해 선행된 연구에서는 도시하천관련 데이터를 수집-정제-제공하는 도시하천 통합데이터 플랫폼을 개발하였다. 이에 하천 분석을 위한 유역 유출, 하천 흐름 그리고 도시유출 등의 모듈과 하천 환경, 친수, 종합 평가 모델을 연계하여 도시하천관리 연계플랫폼으로 연구개발을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 스마트시티 하천관리를 위한 시나리오 기반 제방 파제 시뮬레이션 분석 결과 가시화 모듈에 관한 연구를 진행한다. 부산 EDC 지역을 대상으로 DEM, 항공영상, 위성영상, 하천 지리 정보, 하천 단면도 등의 데이터를 결합하여 하천 및 유역 전산 3D 형상 모델링을 진행한다. 또한 하천 내부 유량 및 파제 제체 모델링, 유동장 격자 모델링을 통해 제방 붕괴 범람 시뮬레이션 대상 지역을 구현한다. 해당 EDC 지역 구현 모델에 연속방정식, 운동량방정식, 수송방정식 등 지배방정식과 삼상 유동 기법 등 수치 해석 기법을 활용하여 제방 파제 시뮬레이션을 수행한다. 시뮬레이션의 침수범위 및 침수심 분포 결과는 위경도를 포함한 ASCII Grid로 반환되며 GeoServer를 통한 좌표계 설정 및 도시하천 연계플랫폼에서 가시화하는 연구를 진행하였다. 제방 파제 시나리오는 제방 높이 2m, 제방 폭 7.5m, 파제 길이 20m로 설정하여 4개의 붕괴 위치를 지정하였고, 지정된 위치에 대한 제방 파제 3D 시뮬레이션을 통해 도출된 Case 별 2D/3D 영상과 침수심 공간 분포에 대한 Raster Graphics를 전처리하여 시나리오별 침수범위-침수심을 도시하천 연계플랫폼 상에서 가시화하는 연구를 진행하였다. 도시하천 연계플랫폼의 시나리오 기반 제방 파제 시뮬레이션 모듈을 통하여 스마트시티의 제방 파제 피해 양상 및 대책 마련 의사결정 보조로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Resonant Type Wireless Power Transfer Using an Optimized Antenna at 1m Distance (1m 거리에서 최적화된 안테나를 통한 공진방식 무선전력전송)

  • This paper has optimized WPT (wireless power transfer) antenna, and compared EM (electromagnetic) simulation result with measurement for the magnetic resonant type standard of A4WP (alliance for wireless power) using 6.78MHz frequency and 1m distance. Power transmission distance is affected by various factors such as system shape, antenna size, and resonator coil pitch etc, which were confirmed by the EM simulation. By simulation an optimized WPT antenna was designed for a fixed distance, and the transmission loss ${\mid}S_{21}{\mid}$ has been calculated with changing distance. Measurement was carried for the fabricated antenna, and the measured transmission loss is 1.5dB with 70% efficiency at maximum 1.3m distance compared to the simulated loss of 1.6dB with 69% efficiency

  • The utilization of simulation has been limited in planning construction process because it is difficult to collect data and build a model using simulation method. This study collects construction operation data and analyzes the characteristics of its distribution. Through the statistical analysis on the empirical data, this study identifies Beta distribution functions is one of the most proper in duplicating the characteristics of construction equipment operation data into a computer simulation. The information obtained in this study can support preparing input data for another simulation.

Development of EM Wave Absorber for Suppression Noise from PCB Using Sendust and Mn-Zn Ferrite (Sendust와 Mn-Zn Ferrite를 이용한 PCB로부터의 전자파 방사 억제용 전파흡수체 개발)

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the EM wave absorber consists of Sendust and Mn-Zn ferrite for suppressing EM wave noise from PCB in ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band of 2.4 GHz. We fabricated several samples in different ratios of Sendust to Mn-Zn ferrite with CPE(Chlorinated Ploy-ethylene) as binder and confirmed that optimum composition ratio of absorbing materials was Sendust. Mn-Zn ferrite : CPE=70:5:20 wt.%. The absorbing abilities were simulated according to different thickness of EM wave absorber as the function of material constants calculated by measured data. Measured absorption ability was analyzed and compared with simulated result. The simulated result agree well with the measured ones. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber with thickness of 0.85 mm has absorption ability of 5.4 dB at 2.4 GHz and over 3 dB in frequency rage of 1.4$\sim$4.1 GHz.

Design of an X-band patch array antenna for an energy saving system (절전센서용 X-밴드 대역 패치 어레이 안테나 설계)

  • This paper introduces an X-band microstrip patch array antenna that can be suitable for an energy saving system. The presented patch antenna comprises with 2-element linear array. The antenna is simulated using CST MWS and manufactured using FR-4(h=1.0mm, ${\varepsilon}r=4.4$). The estimated bandwidth, gain and beamwidth are 4%(VSWR$\leq$2), 6.3dBi and about 60o in elevation and 15o in azimuth, respectively. The antenna is fabricated and optimized based on the simulation result and installed on the backside of the sensor circuit and measured. The measured bandwidth, gain and beamwidth are 7%(VSWR$\leq$2), 4.8dBi and about 55o(El)/15o(Az), respectively.
