  • Control systems are used to limit structural lateral deflections during large external loads such as winds and earthquakes. Most recently, the semi-active control approach has grown in popularity due to inexpensive control devices that consume little power. As a result, recently designed control systems have employed many semi-active control devices for the control of a structure. In the future, it is envisioned that structural control systems will be large-scale systems defined by high actuation and sensor densities. Decentralized control approaches have been used to control large-scale systems that are too complex for a traditional centralized approach, such as linear quadratic regulation (LQR). This paper describes the derivation of energy market-based control (EMBC), a decentralized approach that models the structural control system as a competitive marketplace. The interaction of free-market buyers and sellers result in an optimal allocation of limited control system resources such as control energy. The Kajima-Shizuoka Building and a 20-story benchmark structure are selected as illustrative examples to be used for comparison of the EMBC and centralized LQR approaches.

  • In this paper, we prove the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the following additive functional inequality: ${\parallel}f(2x)+f(2y)+2f(z){\parallel}\;{\leq}\;{\parallel}2f(x+y+z){\parallel}$ We investigate homomorphisms in proper $CQ^*$-algebras and derivations on proper $CQ^*$-algebras associated with the additive functional inequality (0.1).

  • Let U be a ${\sigma}$-square closed Lie ideal of a 2-torsion free ${\sigma}$-prime ${\Gamma}$-ring M. Let $d{\neq}1$ be an automorphism of M such that $[u,d(u)]_{\alpha}{\in}Z(M)$ on U, $d{\sigma}={\sigma}d$ on U, and there exists $u_0$ in $Sa_{\sigma}(M)$ with $M{\Gamma}u_0{\subseteq}U$. Then, $U{\subseteq}Z(M)$. By applying this result, we generalize the results of Oukhtite and Salhi respect to ${\Gamma}$-rings. Finally, for a non-zero derivation of a 2-torsion free ${\sigma}$-prime $\Gamma$-ring, we obtain suitable conditions under which the $\Gamma$-ring must be commutative.

  • This paper introduces an overall system design of a real-time monitoring system that monitors condition of urban railway AC/DC transformers, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers, regulators, and GIS (gas insulated switchgear). For effective diagnosis of urban railway facilities we developed optimized sensors and application technology. The proposed system is combined with wireless technology, implementing remote real-time monitoring of urban railway facilities. The derived real-time monitoring system for power facilities in urban railway substations will be applied not only to diagnose low voltage DC (direct current) railways but also to diagnose design of small power facilities of skyscrapers and apartments.

  • A de-embedding method for multiport networks, especially for coupled odd interconnection lines, is presented in this paper. This method does not require a conversion from S-parameters to T-parameters, which is widely used in the de-embedding technique of multiport networks based on cascaded simple two-port relations, whereas here, we apply an operation to the S-matrix to generate all the uncoupled and coupled coefficients. The derivation of the method is based on the relations of incident and reflected waves between the input of the entire network and the input of the intrinsic device under test (DUT). The characteristics of the intrinsic DUT are eventually achieved and expressed as a function of the S-parameters of the whole network, which are easily obtained. The derived coefficients constitute ABCD-parameters for a convenient implementation of the method into cascaded multiport networks. A validation was performed based on a spice-like circuit simulator, and this verified the proposed method for both uncoupled and coupled cases.

  • The electromagnetic noise generates when natural frequencies of a stator core with wingdings and frame coincide with or approach natural frequencies of the magnetic motive force. In order to suppress such noise, the estimation of natural frequencies of the motor is important at the design stage. However, the natural frequency analysis is not so easy because motor stator is in the laminated plate structure and windings are composed of wires, insulation sheets and vanishs. Thus the accurate prediction of the equivalent material properties of windings becomes an essential task. In this paper, we derive the equivalent material properties using homogenization methods.

  • In the case of existing in free-edge delaminations of composite laminates which are symmetry with respect to mid-plane in laminates also, in the case of asymmetry and anti-symmetry, the generalized quasi-three dimensional displacement field equations developed from quasi-three dimensional displacement field equations can be applied to solve above cases. We introduce three paramenters in this paper, which have not been used in quasi-three dimensional displacement field equations until now. To the laminate subjected to the axial extension strain $\varepsilon$0(C1) in $\chi$-direction, the bending deformation $\chi$$\chi$(C$_2$) around у-direction, the bending deformation w$\chi$(C$_4$) around z-direction and the twisting deformation $\chi$$\chi$y(C$_3$) around $\chi$-direction .The generalized quasi-three dimensional displacement field equations are able to be analyzed efectively.

  • Lower dimensional cases of Einstein's connection were already investigated by many authors for n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. This paper is the first part of the following series of two papers, in which we obtain a surveyable tensorial representation of 8-dimensional Einstein's connection in terms of the unified field tensor, with main emphasis on the derivation of powerful and useful recurrence relations which hold in 8-dimensional Einstein's unified field theory(i.e., 8-g-UFT): I. The recurrence relations in 8-g-UFT II. The Einstein's connection in 8-g-UFT All considerations in these papers are restricted to the second class only, since the case of the first class are done in [1], [2] and the case of the third class, the simplest case, was already studied by many authors.

  • The problem of the computation of derivatives arises in various applications of rational Bezier curves. These applications sometimes require the computation of derivative on numerous points. Therefore, many researches have dealt with the representation for the computation of derivatives with the small computation error. This paper compares the performances of the representations for the derivative of rational Bezier curves in the performances. The performance is measured as computation requirements at the pre-processing stage and at the computation stage based on the theoretical derivation of computational bound as well as the experimental verification. Based on this measurement, this paper discusses which representation is preferable in different situations.

  • In this paper, free vibration analysis of a functionally graded cylindrical nanoshell resting on Pasternak foundation is presented based on the nonlocal elasticity theory. A two-dimensional formulation along the axial and radial directions is presented based on the first-order shear deformation shell theory. Hamilton's principle is employed for derivation of the governing equations of motion. The solution to formulated boundary value problem is obtained based on a harmonic solution and trigonometric functions for various boundary conditions. The numerical results show influence of significant parameters such as small scale parameter, stiffness of Pasternak foundation, mode number, various boundary conditions, and selected dimensionless geometric parameters on natural frequencies of nanoshell.
