This study was performed to investigate the effect of normal diet with or without naringin supplement on the lipid and antioxidant metabolism in ethanol-treated rats for a short tenn. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups (n=10), which were assigned to one of three dietary categories : $E_8$ : ethanol diet for 8 wks, $E_4N_4$ : ethanol diet for the first 4 wks and normal diet for the last 4 wks, $E_4Nna_4$ : ethanol diet for the first 4 wks and normal diet with naringin supplement for the last 4 wks. Plasma total cholesterol concentrations were significantly higher in ethanol fed rats for 8 weeks. The HDL-C/total-C ratios of the $E_4N_4$ and the $E_4Nna_4$ groups were significantly higher than that of the $E_8$ group, while the atherogenic index was lower in the $E_4N_4$ and the $E_4Nna_4$ groups than in the $E_8$ group. The $E_4N_4$ and $E_4Nna_4$ diets significantly lowered both the hepatic cholesterol and triglyceride levels compared to the $E_8$ group. Accumulation of hepatic lipid droplets was observed to be the highest in the $E_8$ group. In the current study, the naringin supplement to normal diet significantly lowered both the hepatic HMG-CoA reductase and ACAT activities in ethanol pre-treated rats for 4 weeks. Antioxidant enzyme activities were also upregulated when ethanol feeding was ceased. Naringin supplement given for 4 weeks after ethanol cessation resulted in a significant decrease in the plasma cholesterol and hepatic lipids and plasma TBARS as well as the hepatic HMG-CoA reductase and ACAT activities compared to the rats given ethanol diet for the entire 8 weeks. Replacement of normal diet following a short tenn ethanol feeding was effective for the recovery of ethanol-induced fatty liver and for normalizing plasma and hepatic lipid profiles and antioxidant enzyme activities, regardless of an additional phytochemical supplement, naringin. The effect of naringin could seemingly be more evident if its supplementation period had been extended longer than 4 weeks after ethanol cessation.
The monomer N,N'-bis(3-pyrrol-1-yl-propyl)-4,4'-bipyridinium$(PF_6)_2$ was electrochemically polymerized on glassy carbon electrode surface. This polymer film electrode has electroactive sites on its bipyridinium ions distributed at the polymer strands. The formal potentials of the electrodes were -0.41V and -0.81V(vs. SSCE) for each step at phosphate buffer(pH=5.70). The diffusion coefficients of the dopants ions into the polymer matrix were $1.57{\times}10^{-4}$ and $4.35{\times}10^{-5}cm^2s^{-1}$ for first and second redox couple, respectively. The rate constants of electron transfer at $V^{2+/+}$ of the first step was a $57.53s^{-1}$, which was 22 times higher than $V^{+/0}$ one having $2.63s^{-1}$ in the solution. The charge transfer resistance of the polymer film was influenced by the dopant ion of the electrolyte. Thus the resistances were 22.63, 16.81, 12.44 and $11.36k{\Omega}$ for $LiClO_4,\;NaClO_4,\;KClO_4$, and phosphate buffer, respectively. The reaction order of the electropolymerization was first order and the rate constant of the polymerization was $1.31{\times}10^{-1}s^{-1}$ as determined by EQCM method. The G.C./p-BPB type electrode doped with phosphate ions showed a stability and reproducibility in CV procedure over 20 cycles.
Four bacterial strains capable of catabolizing 4-chlorobiphen!;l (4CB) were isolated from the industrial waste waters. The bacterial isolates designated as PO$. P20, P27, and P1242. respectively, were examined for their catabolic activities. And in order to examine molecular homology of the 4CB catabolizing genes of these bacterial isolates. Southern hybridization was conducted with bphABC genes of P. p.srudoalculigrnrs KF707 as a DNA probe. The metabolites of 2-hydroxy-6-0x0-6-(4'-chlorophenyl)hexa-2 .4-dienoic acid and Cchlorobenzoate were detected to be produced by the isolatc:~ in the MM2 liquid cultures. But Cchlorobenzoate was further catabolized to produce 4.-hydroxybenzoate by DJ-12, P08. and P27. but not by P20 and P1242. As results of hybridization, homologous regions were commonly observed in Xhol fragments of 2.2 and 1.8 kb and in EcoRl fragment of 11 kb in the DJ- 12. P08, and P27 isolates. But in any restriction enzyme digests ot the P20 and PI242 isolates. homologous region was not detected. Adiponectin has been known to improve insulin sensitivity and elicit glucose uptake via increased glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) translocation. In the current study, mRNA expression levels of adiponectin and GLUT4 were measured in subcutaneous adipose tissue from C57BL/6 mice fed normal (ND) or high-fat diet (HFD) until 16, 26, 36, 47, or 77 weeks of age starting from 6 weeks of age. Expression levels were also measured in mice with calorie restriction (CR) and in thiazolidinedione (TZD) treated mice. Using quantitative real-time PCR, we demonstrated that GLUT4 expression in adipose tissue significantly decreased in HFD mice groups and increased in CR (p<0.05) and TZD (p=0.007) groups while there was no difference in adiponectin mRNA expression levels between experimental and control groups. General linear regression models were used to assess the association of gene expression levels between adiponectin and GLUT4 and to determine whether adiponectin affects GLUT4 transcription. mRNA expression levels of adiponectin and GLUT4 are significantly associated each other in mice fed a ND (p<0.0001) or HFD (p<0.0001), in groups separated into each age and diet, and CR group (p=0.002), but not in TZD group (p=0.73). These results demonstrated that gene expression of adiponectin and GLUT4 is strongly associated, suggesting that there is a common regulatory mechanism for adiponectin and GLUT4 gene expression and/or adiponectin has a direct role in GLUT4 gene expression in adipose tissue.

This study investigated the removal characteristics of highly concentrated $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization using converter slag as a seed crystal. The optimal pH range for removal and recovery of $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization was measured to be 8.0~8.75, in which total removal efficiencies for $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite precipitation and crystallization were 34.3~61.0% and 91.0~96.2%, respectively. The maximum removal efficiencies for $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P by struvite crystallization were 29.4% at pH 8.5 and 65.1% at pH 8.0, respectively. The removal efficiency of $NH_4$-N by struvite crystallization decreased with increasing calcium ion concentration. The analysis results of SEM, EDS and XRD exhibited that $NH_4$-N and $PO_4$-P in meta-stable region of struvite crystallization could be eliminated through formation of magnesium ammonia phosphate (MAP) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) on seed crystals by struvite precipitation and crystallization.
The purpose of this study are to examine the characters of the lower half body shape in the middle aged women and to make slacks patttern on the base of four difference body shapes as follows. The lower half body shapes were classified into 4 types on the basis of their lateral view silhouette, whose characters were summarized as followings. (1) "Type 1" meant the right body shape with the standard protrusion of abdomen and hips. (2) "Type 2" showed the body shape with prominent hips, which had the flat abdominal silhouette and the greatly curved hips silhouette. (3) "Type 3" was the body shape with the prominent abdomen and the flat hips, in which the frontal view silhouette of the abdomen was greatly curved and the rear view silhouette of hips is less curved. (4) "Type 4" was characterized with prominent abdomen and hips. The slaks patterns were based on the lower half body shape characters and resulted in followings. (1) In the type 1, little difference from conventional patterns was seen in experiment pattern, in which the front waist girth was W/4{\times}0.5cm+0.5cm+fold(2.5cm) and the back waist girth W/4+0.5cm-0.5cm+dart(3.5cm). The front hip girth was defined as H/4+2.0cm+0.5cm and the back hip girth as H/4+2.0cm-0.5cm due to its increased ease amount produced by abdominal fat deposition. (2) In the type 2 experimental pattern, the front and back differences of the waist girth and the hip girth were defined as 1.0cm and 2.0cm separately. Accordingly, the front waist girth was W/4+0.5cm+ 1.0cm+fold(2.0cm), the back waist girth W/4+0.5cm-1.0cm+dart(6.5cm), the front hip girth H/4+2.0cm+1.0cm and the back hip girth H/4+2.0cm-1.0cm. (3) In type 3, the front waist girth was set up as W/4+0.5cm+0.5cm+fold (4.5cm) for the increased front fold amount and the back waist girth was W/4+0.5cm+0.5cm+dart(3.0cm). The front hip girth was made as H/4+2.5cm+0.5cm and the back hip girth H/4+2.5cm-0.5cm. (4) In type 4, considered were $\circled1$ the increased fornt fold amount due to the abdonimal protrusion, $\circled2$ the increased back dart amount and the decreased back dart length owing to the hips prominent and $\circled3$ the front and back differences of waist and hip girth for the lateral view silhouette. Therefore the front waist girth was defined as W/4+0.5cm+2.0cm+flod (5.0cm), the back waist girth as W/4+0.5cm-20.cm+dart(4.0cm), the front hip girth as H/4+2.0cm+1.0cm and the back hip girth as H/4+2.0cm-1.0cm. The sensory evaluation of appearance and comfort was appeared more suitable on the experiment pattern than on the conventional pattern.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of calcium hydroxide and glass ionomer cement fillings on the levels of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ in experimentally inflamed rat dental pulp. The dental pulp in the mandibular incisor of wistar rat was irritated by cutting a 5mm deep hole in the dentin with a twist drill bur of 0.5mm diameter, without cooling. The cavities were filled with calcium hydroxide(light-cured) and glass ionomer cement(light cured). The untreated pulp served as control tissue specimen. After cavity preparations, the rat with or without various treatment were sacrificed in various time by decapitation. The dental pulp tissue were carefully removed and the concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ were determined by radioimmunoassay. And pulps were examined histologically to observe inflammatory feature. The result were obtained as follows : 1. The inflammatory features of pulps were observed microscopically in all experimental groups. And degree of inflammation was decreased with time. 2. The concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ for all experimental groups were significantly higher than those for control group 6 hours after cavity preparation(p<0.05). 3. The group filled with calcium hydroxide was the lowest, and the group filled with glass ionomer cement, the group of irritation in that order showed increased concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ 6 hours after cavity preparation. In the concentrations of $LTB_4$, significant differences among 3 groups were noted(p<0.05). 4. The group filled with calcium hydroxide was the lowest, and the group filled with glass ionomer cement, the group of irritation in that order showed increased concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ 24 hours after cavity preparation. And there were statistically significant difference in concentrations of $LTB_4$ between the group of irritation and the group filled with calcium hydroxide(p<0.05). 5. The group filled with calcium hydroxide was the lowest, and the group filled with glass ionomer cement, the group of irritation in that order showed increased concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ 48 hours after cavity preparation. But no statistically difference was found (p>0.05). 6. The concentrations of $LTB_4$ and $LTC_4$ in all experimental groups were highest level at 6 hour after experiment and decreased as time progresses(correlation coefficient>0.8).

Purpose: To report a case of immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related ophthalmic disease associated with adult xanthogranulomatous disease. Case summary: A 38-year-old male with a history of cholecystectomy visited our clinic for bilateral periorbital swelling. Histopathology of the orbital biopsy showed diffuse infiltration of foamy histiocytes with Touton giant cells and lymphoid follicles, with a diagnosis of adult-onset xanthogranuloma. After excisional biopsy, he was treated with azathioprine and prednisolone. Four years after treatment, he again visited the clinic due to bilateral, yellowish eyelid masses. Serological examinations were all nonspecific findings, except for elevation of IgG and IgG4 levels. Magnetic resonance imaging showed bilateral symmetric soft tissue enlargement with slightly heterogeneous T1/T2 isosignal intensity, with contrast enhancement at the superolateral aspect of extraconal spaces. Excisional biopsy and blepharoplasty were performed. Immunohistochemical sections showed that the IgG4+/IgG plasma cell ratio was 10-20% and the IgG4 plasma cell count was 22/high power field (HPF). His past sections of 2013 from the pathology department were again stained and showed that the IgG4+/IgG plasma cell ratio was 40-50% and the IgG4 plasma cell count was 59/HPF. Thus, he was definitely diagnosed with IgG4-related ophthalmic disease. Conclusions: If there is recurrent eyelid swelling, IgG4-related ophthalmic disease should be considered as a differential diagnosis. And the patient with adult xanthogranulomatous disease can be diagnosed with IgG4-related ophthalmic disease.

As dipeptidyl peptidase-4(DPP-4) inhibitors are used widely as a secondary treatment for type 2 diabetes because they tend to be well tolerated with minimal side effects, the human DPP-4(hDPP-4) gene was injected into a pig zygote through micro-injection, and 1-cell stage fertilized embryos were then transplanted surgically into the oviduct. Three pigs were fertilized with hDPP-4 genes and produced sixteen piglets, in which one male piglet was identified to be transgenic. Finally, transgenic pigs showing hDPP-4 gene expression in the tail were produced. Western blot and RT-PCR analysis confirmed that the hDPP-4 is expressed strongly in the membrane cells of the transgenic pig, and that the hDPP-4 gene appears in various tissues and tails. This suggests that the expression vector is normally expressed in transgenic pigs. These results are anticipated to be a model animal to check the endocrine function for insulin resistance that occurs in a hDPP-4 transgenic pig and to increase its value for use as a material in newly developed medicines.
This study compared DLP values along with phantom entrance surface doses and the image quality of chest CT scans made using a Care Dose 4D+Care kV System, scans that are made using only the Care Dose 4D function, and scans that are made with changes made by applying 80 kVp, 100 kVp, 120 kVp, and 140 kVp to the Care Dose 4D and tube voltage to search for methods to maintain the highest image quality with minimal patient doses. It was shown that DLP values decreased 6.727% when scans were taken with Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV semi 100 and 6.481% when scans were taken with Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV. With Chest Non as a standard, skin surface doses decreased 16.519% when scans were taken with Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV semi 100 and 15.705% when scans were taken with Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV. With comparisons of image quality, when comparisons were made with Chest Non, comparisons made of SNR values and CNR values in all scanning conditions including Care Dose 4D + Care kV showed that there were no significant differences at P>0.05. Imaging using Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV in chest CT showed that exposure doses decreased similarly to result values gained from the best conditions through manual adjustments of kV and mAS, and there were no significant differences in image SNR and CNR. If the Chest Care Dose 4D + Care kV function is used, image quality is maintained and patient exposure to radiation can be reduced.
