Mechanical Behavior of $Al_2O_3/Cr_2O_3-ZrO_2/HfO_2$ System ($Al_2O_3/Cr_2O_3-ZrO_2/HfO_2$ 계의 기계적 거동)

  • Several $Al_2O_3$-based polycrystalline which had different dopant ratio in the range of 0.5mol% were prepared by doping pure $Cr_2O_3$ $HfO_2$. Single crystalline which had same composition with above polycrystalline were made by means of floating zone method. This study examined the role of each dopant for enhancing the mechanical properties of $Al_2O_3$-based Ceramics. Optical micrographs $({ imes}200)$ of $Al_2O_3-Cr_2O_3$ single crystal showing not only radial crack (rc) on the specimen surface but median crack(mc) and lateral crack(lc) under surface at the edge of indentation mark. Fracture toughness of Al2O3-based Ceramics was increased with $ZrO_2$ content. Alloying effect of $Cr_2O_3$ contributed to the hardness of $Al_2O_3$ based ceramics.

  • This paper shows property conversion of water and removing characteristics of Escherichia coli for discharge tube with $ZrO_2$ beads. At the result of the removal characteristic experiments of Escherichia coli using the discharge tube with $ZrO_2$ beads, because the electric field is also increased when input voltage is increased, the removal characteristic of Escherichia coli was appeared relation connection to input voltage. And if a passing number of test water in discharge tube with $ZrO_2$beads is increased, the removal ratio of Escherichia coli is to be increased because passing number of electric field section is increased. And if diameter of $ZrO_2$beads is increased, the removal time of Escherichia coli is to be decreased because dielectric polalization of $ZrO_2$beads. Also, the removal ratio of Escherichia coli of the discharge tube with $ZrO_2$beads. is appeared higher than the removal ratio of the discharge tube without $ZrO_2$beads. And a satulation punt of ozone and $H_2$ $O_2$generation density inner water was appeared near 60[min].

Piezoeletric properties of Pb(Fe$_{1/2}Sb_{1/2})$O$_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})o_3$system ceramics (Pb(Fe$_{1/2}Sb_{1/2})$O$_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})o_3$ 계 세라믹스의 압전 특성)

  • In this paper, the structure, dieletric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$/Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$$O_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics were investigated and the effects of donor Nb$^{+5}$ on these properties were characterized for the application of the actuator. In xPb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$)O$_3$+ (1-x) Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics, tetragonality decreased as x and Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ wt% were increased. In 0.05Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}$}$)O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system, grain size was smallest but showed best dielectric and piezoelectric properties. The specimen sintered at 120$0^{\circ}C$ in 0.05pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$ )O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$+ Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ 0.6wt% exihibited best piezoeletric properties such as $K^{p}$ =64%, d$_{33}$ =490 [$\times$10$^{-12}$ C/N] and strain was 1320[$\times$10$^{-6}$ Δ$\ell$/$\ell$]at AC 6kV/cm

  • Quaternary TiZrAlN nanocomposite thin films with a composition of 20.7Ti-22.2Zr-2.7Al-54.4N (at.%) were deposited by the closed-field unbalanced magnetron sputtering (CFUBMS) method and oxidized in air at temperatures between 500 and $700^{\circ}C$. The oxides formed were $TiO_2$, $ZrO_2$, and $Al_2O_3$. The films had inferior oxidation resistance because the amounts of $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ were large while the amount of $Al_2O_3$ was small. The oxidation progressed primarily by the inward diffusion of oxygen and the outward diffusion of nitrogen.

  • When ceramic membrance was made from metal salt solution in place of metal akoxide solution, crack free and good adhesion to supporter was optimized for sol stability and good adhesion force. A starting sol was prepared from aluminum oxychloride aqueous solutjion in order to inhibit the grain growthof Al2O3 during heat treatment. The crack free dip coating can't be achieved in 1mol/ι zirconium oxychloride solution because of the high viscosity which interferes with the hydration copolymerization between Al3+ ion and Zr4+ ion. Thus Al2O3-ZrO2 sol stability and viscosity for dip coating was effective when 0.01 mol/ι zirconium oxychloride was added. The minimizing of crack and achieving better adhesion to the supporter wa obtained by microwave drying, surfactant addition and ultrasonic dip coating in wet atmosphere. The result seems to minimize the capillary force and improve the adhesive ability to supporter during the process. Where the average pore size of Al2O3-ZrO2 ultrafilter ceramic membrane measured 17 Å by the BET method and observed γ-Al2O3 phase with tetragonal zirconia after firing at 700℃.

  • This study was aimed at observing the influence of laser irradiation on a $ZrO_2-8%Y_2O_3$ ceramic coating layer fabricated by plasma spraying. The $ZrO_2-8%Y_2O_3$ ceramic powder was plasma sprayed onto SS400 carbon steel substrate and laser irradiated on the coating layer under various conditions of laser power and beam diameters. As to the as-sprayed specimen and laser-treated specimen, a hardness test and a microstructure analysis were performed. Hardness was measured by a microhardness tester; microstructure was observed by an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope. The result was that the microstructure of the laser-irradiated coating layer was dense; porosities almost disappeared and hardness increased. It was also observed that microcracks occured in the laser-irradiated coating layer.

  • A new process of emulsiion-spray pyrolysis for synthesizing ceramic powders was developed and the characteristics of Al2O3-20w/o ZrO2 composite powders prepared by this method were investigated. The composite powders synthesized in this study were spherical dense particles with 0.1~0.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of diameter. As found in powders derived by the emulsion-hot kerosene drying method, all zirconia in Al2O3-20w/o ZrO2 powders heat-treated at 120$0^{\circ}C$ was in the tetragonal form at room temperature. The relative density and the fracture toughness of composites sintered at 1$650^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs were 95% and 5.2MPa.m1/2, respectively.

Dielectric Properties in the Pb1-3x/2Lax[(Mg1/3Ta2/3)0.66Zr0.34]O3 Systems

  • The dielectric constant and loss of poling/non-poling was measured in the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ samples. The addition of $La^{3+}$ to the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ did not cause a large change in grain size. But the addition of $La^{3+}$ did show transition temperature, which shifted toward low temperature in the $Pb[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})Zr]O_3$ systems. In addition, the dielectric and pyroelectric properties (${\varepsilon}{\sim}20000$, $p{\sim}0.03C/m^2K$) of this system using $La^{3+}$ have been greatly improved. Pyroelectrics $Pb_{0.97}La_{0.02}(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ system was found to have a relatively high ferroelectric FOMs ($F_V{\sim}0.035m^2/C$, $F_D{\sim}0.52{\times}10^{-4}Pa^{-1/2}$) at room temperature. Spontaneous polarization showed a value of $0.27{\sim}0.35C/m^2$ in the composition added to $La^{3+}$. The piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}=350{\sim}490pC/N$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_P=0.25{\sim}0.35$) are obtained in $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ compositions with $La^{3+}$ dopant.

An Efficient and Green Approach for the Esterification of Aromatic Acids with Various Alcohols over H3PO4/TiO2-ZrO2

  • $TiO_2-ZrO_2$ was prepared with surfactant through a sol-gel method. Catalysts containing 5 - 35% $H_3PO_4$ were prepared using these oxides. Subsequently the catalytic performance of prepared catalysts was determined for liquid phase esterification of aromatic acids. $H_3PO_4/TiO_2-ZrO_2$ has been used as catalyst to synthesize various novel esters by esterification of some aromatic acids with aliphatic alcohols (2-propanol, 1-butanol, iso butanol, 3-pentanol, 1-hexanol, heptanol, cyclo heptanol, octanol and decanol). Under optimized conditions, maximum yields and selectivity (100%) to the corresponding ester, was obtained by using 25 wt % $H_3PO_4/TiO_2-ZrO_2$ as catalyst. The Catalyst can be easily recycled after reaction and can be reused without any significant loss of activity/selectivity performance. No by-product formation, high yields, short reaction times, mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity with reusability of the catalyst are the salient features of the present synthetic protocol. The reaction was carried out under solvent-free condition.

Effects of Sintering Additives and Atmospheres on the Piezoelectric and Sintering Properties of $Pb_{0.98}Cd_{0.02}Zr_{0.36}Ti_{0.39}Ni_{0.083}Nb_{0.167}O_3$ (소결첨가제와 분위기가 $Pb_{0.98}Cd_{0.02}Zr_{0.36}Ti_{0.39}Ni_{0.083}Nb_{0.167}O_3$의 소결 및 압전 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of SiO2 MnO2 and sintering atmospheres (O2, N2) on the piezoelectric properties and densification behaviors of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 were investigated. The addition of SiO2 to the system enhanced the rate of densification but supressed the rate of grain growth. On the other hand the addition of MnO2 to the system did not nearly affect the rate of densification but increased slightly the rate of grain growth The densification of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 was promoted with increasing the partial pressure of O2. The relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 sintered under O2 atmosphere were higher than under N2 atmosphere. Whereas the mechanical quality factor (Qm) of specimens sintered under O2 atmosphere were lower than under N2 atmosphere. Thus the sintering atmosphere of O2 and N2 in Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 containing of SiO2 or MnO2 acted as donor and acceptor respectively. As the amount of SiO2 increased the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 but the mechanical quality factor (Qm) did not nearly change, In the case of the addition of MnO2 to the system the relative dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) of Pb0.98Cd0.02Zr0.36Ti0.39Ni0.083Nb0.167O3 sintered under O2 atmosphere decreased rapidly with increasing the amount of MnO2 but they were unchanged with increasing the amount of MnO2 under N2 sintering atmosphere. Therefore the differences of the relative dielect-ric constant ($\varepsilon$r) and piezoelectric constant (d33) due to sintering atmosphere were diminished as the amount of MnO2 increased.
